"Speaking of passing time, what do you think Guinevere will choose at the end of all of this?" Callista posed, twisting to the side on his lap. He sunk back, his being relaxing as he let out a long heavy sigh. "That will be up to her. After all I don't want to spoil that part for myself." His grin eliciting a chuckle out of Callista.
"If you say so but I'm hungry, let's go find something to eat." She purred, rising to her feet helping Jarren off. "I think your appetite as of late has stared to get out of hand. It would be best that you go on a diet for some time." Offended by his words, she threatened to land a punch he easily caught and stole a kiss.
"Chuu~~" The two smiled at each other before breaking apart. "I can't think that Clomere would want you all to herself. How selfish can she really be?!" Her tone laced with skepticism as she narrowed her eyes. "As selfish as you are but not as obvious as you though." Her face showed her contempt.
"Aw~Why would you think so low of me darling? I'm far more allowing than her." Her tone though low was merely theatrical. "Well I may have misspoke about you two being as equally selfish, clearly you two are on your own league differently." Still the answer didn't settle well with her.
"Darling~ I didn't think that you would be so mean with me. I'll break down into tears at his rate and haunt your dreams with my purrs and moans." He laughed it off, ruffling her hair as the two slipped into something more outdoors. "Well that will be another anomaly to terrify me in my dreams. But I doubt that you would be able to to contend with the monsters lurking in my head."
She straightened her hair only for him to undo it once more. "Hey!" She cried but he merely laughed it off. The two walked out of their room, the halls laced with a modern aesthetic. The halls covered with a scarlet carpet with gold edges. The lights with chic lighting as the walls were adorned with high end paintings.
The two walked out, their hands holding akin to a loving couple making their way to the elevator. With a ding, their figures emerged at the bottom floor. Bellboys moved around, new guests checking in as others left. The two didn't bother with the world around them as they left.
The sun's rays shining hard on them, the two adorned in light clothing. The sights of malcore driven cars filled their ears, well paved streets and soldiers monitoring about bringing an air of reassurance and comfort to the place.
*Whoosh*
A car passed them attracting Callista's attention. "Why don't we have such cars back in Redfall?" Her tone unsatisfied as the two kept on walking. "We have an entire kingdom in our hands and you are still unsatisfied. I don't see the difference between you and Clomere."
She leaned into his figure making him exude a low grunt. "Ah! You don't have to be so rough! Or you just might regret it when we head back." A playful smile teetered on her lips, her eye lashes fluttering with a hint of mischievousness to them. "Well I'm sure that you'll make sure of it dearie." Her tone sweet and alluring as she whispered in his ears.
"Don't tempt me dear." His tone low and husky further driving her near the edge. "Oh, but please...' She dragged on clearly ready for what he was about to throw at her. He merely let out a chuckle as the two kept on walking down the street before the sight of a luxurious restaurant came into view.
The two didn't waste a lot of time making their way in. The air far different from the one outside. It was way cooler and more reserved, the air carrying a waft of opulence as the host sat patiently skimming through his tablet. "We're here for out table." His tone flat as he gave his names.
Aliases to use before they chose to make an actual move in Reuthar. "Of course, a servant should lead you to your reserved table and please, if you have any problem please don't hesitate to tell the staff." And with that the two made their way inwards. The sound of forks clattering filled their ears alongside calm reserved whispers.
With a mere glance it was easy to tell what bracket the people they saw belonged to. The two however didn't bother with the first level as they made their way up the elevator and onto the third floor. Here rooms were way more distant from each other, the air deadly calm as their steps echoed through the hallway.
With a few more steps, the two came to their room. "Please..." The man mused as he opened the door. "Thank you." Callista blankly mused as she made her entrance, Jarren giving a fair nod before shutting the door behind them. What laid in front of them was more than just a buffet, it was a feast meant for ten people.
A wide array of dishes lay prepared for the two, ranging from sea food to greens and meat, be it steamed, steaked or grilled. Each choice brought to them making them wish to try everything dished out. "Oh my! You didn't have to spoil me so dear." Callista mused, her tone showing her shock as she made her way to the table.
Jarren gentlemanly helping her take a seat, the two looked to the side where a gorgeous scenery came into view of Reuthar. "I can see the capital from here." She mused playfully as she dug into her greens. "So can I but I think that it would be too soon to head there. After all we have some unfinished business with Brose and James."
His voice cool as he took a sip of his tea. The steak he had dug in was tantalizing, the flavors melting in his tongue creating a sweetening euphoria of bliss coursing down this throat. "But I want to play with the big fish!" She pouted, her cheeks bloating up. "As much as I know you want to, try to keep yourself busy with something else. Focus on the carp before making a move on kingfish."
His tone flat with a playful edge to it. She took a long glance at her wine before taking measured gulps of it. "... Still, my appetite is far too maddening for a carp to satiate it, I'd prefer the main course right away." Her fork clattered on the fine china, her fingers adept with her means around her greens.
"As a cat who am I to stop you?" With a final gulp of his wine, he let out an exclamation of satisfaction. He rose to his feet and made his way to the side. She watched his movements with a teasing smile as she heard her ears filled with a song.
It's style lively and energetic. "Would you mind for a dance, my lady?" His hand stretched out for her. With a chuckle, she accepted it and the two began their dance. The first was salsa which ended with his toes being stepped on. "You have to be more graceful. How about you take my lead."
He wrapped his hands around her waist and hers around his neck. She stepped into his toes bringing them closer to which she didn't miss the opportunity to steal a kiss. "You're quite mischievous, aren't you?" She didn't give a response but rather a chuckle.
And with that it began, their being as oke slow at first began to pick up the pace. Sure she would make hiccups here and there but she laughed them off followed with pecks and kisses from Jarren. With one foot over the other, she eventually managed to get the rhythm down.
"I didn't you knew such a dance." Her tone out of breathe but filled with curiosity. "When you travel a lot you tend to pick up a lot of skills. Some more useful than others." She fell onto thought as his hands met hers. "So how about a dance now my lady?" She gave a knowing chuckle and within a twirl, the two began their salsa.
Once clunky and out of pace with each other's rhythm was a thing of the past. She easily managed to keep up with his pace and his abnormal changes for giggles that caught her off guard. "You don't have to be so mean Jarren." Her pout met with a brisk kiss. "I'm not being mean, merely helping you learn a thing or two."
She didn't buy it as the two kept on with their dance till coming to the crescendo that ended with Callista suspended thanks to Jarren, her position lean with his. Their faces were inches apart, the two taking each other's features before Jarren helped her back up. "It would seem that you're not that bad of a student." His statement met with a sharp glare.
"I'm fairly confident with my pace of learning Jarren. There's no need for you to be so hypocritical about it." Her face sour as she made her way back to her meal. With the energy she had spent trying to learn and move about, she was starving for more.
...
The two made their way to other stops he had prepared ahead of time. Spoiling her with clothes and accessories he was sure she would never wear or consider at the slightest before the day came to an end. "It would seem that you're not that bad of an owner." Her tone playful as she dug into her ice cream.
"What do you mean by that? I've always been a great caretaker." His tone as if meant to refute her claims of his incompetency. "Well that wasn't the case when we first met but it would seem that I judged you way too harshly." She went on as she took a lick of her vanilla ice cream.
His was chocolate. "You had every right to think of me as a monster and I doubt whether I've changed that much with you by my side." He chuckled as he saw the sun set. It's streak of orange and red coating the sky in a dazzling fashion. The two walked side by side, their hands locked.
"So how is it for you as a horror? I'm sure that you've met others besides me as your first interest. After all Orsen is an example of this." Her tone curious as she bore her gaze into his. "I'd be lying saying that you're the first. As for those before you, let's just say that they grew boring as time dragged on."
His answer making her brows furrow. "What makes you say that? Did they become too safe and predictable for your liking or what?!" Jarren paused, his licks halting as he tried to recall what happened. "They free safe in a sense of unanimous resistance under Guinevere's rule. Rebelled and in the end met nothing but eternal damnation."
She was still hesitant in believing him. "Are you telling me that within the hundreds of millions you've met that they've all resisted? None have ever tried to settle down with you?" His pause this time was longer in comparison to the last, the sound of cars buzzing past them as they made their way back to the hotel.
"There were those who tried to but couldn't see it through. Either defected, got lost in the abyss or fell into sheer madness. After all withstanding my actual form would drive you to the brink of insanity with a mere gaze. But there were those who could withstand me, though not many they too met their tragic end."
"After all it relies with a factor I let fate determine. Luck. Controversial as it sounds and so far it would seem that Orsen is a strong contender." Callista paused, a part of her downhearted with what she heard. "Does that mean that I'll either away and no longer be yours? To be nothing more than a memory for you to toy with and forget?"
Her tone somewhat bitter at the realization. "As a horror you won't be just a memory but something more, a being by my side then you'll have to play my game of luck and hope that you win. After all I'm eager if you'll win."
