Chapter 139 - Chapter 139: Blood, Glass, and Shadows

‎Guinevere's work however wasn't done, far from it at the very least. She began with staging riots and upheavals in other kingdoms. The demons executing her orders without fail. It wasn't meant to wear them down but shock them, make them wary of their neighbors before she came and corrupted them all.

‎Multiple kingdoms launched war on her and yet she prepared what was on the horizon with a knowing smile. For her this world was already in her grasp, it was just a matter of time before it came to pass.

‎"These demons are getting far too restless." She glanced at the documents laid out for her, each detailing about profits and revenues she could make and yet she didn't bother. 'These demons have began to bleed, it's only a matter of time before their blood replenish the wastelands.' A dark chuckle escaping her lips as she sunk into her seat.

‎"Darling ~~" Clomere barged in, the only form of life that existed in her palace as the rest were nothing more than drones on a program. "What is it? I'm busy with work." Her tone flat as she remained locked with her screen. "Oh come on, I'm sure that you could make an exception for me~" Clomere wrapped her hands around her neck, her lips nibbling on her lobes as she looked at her work.

‎She saw the documents, gave a light scoff as she kept on playing with her games. "I've done nothing more than make exceptions for you this entire week. I need to get some work done if you want to toy with the kingdoms." She posed, turning to her side and stealing a kiss of Clomere who savored it.

‎"Chuuu~~" The two pulled away from each other. "A week won't be enough, eternity is the bare minimum I could give you." Her statement making Guinevere laugh. "Of course it is. A hungry bitch like you can't be satiated to easily. It's a miracle that Jarren managed to keep you at bay."

‎Clomere taking offense pulled back her hair forcing Guinevere to stare into her jade beads. "That's because he knows how to satisfy me. As much as I savor our spurs, I need something to fill me~~" Her tone shifting from playful to sultry. "And as of currently, you're the only toy in my vicinity that I can play with."

‎Her lips grazed Guinevere's neck eliciting hot moans from the latter. "Well if you want I'm sure that a bunch of brothels would want you as a slut. With your drive, I'm sure you'd be the slut of the century." Clomere pulled harder, a sadistic grin flashing on her face.

‎"Well if you can keep up with me then what does that make you?" Her words soft though imposing, her eyes landing on her hardened nipples. "I...no! Not this time!" Guinevere posed, her tone firm as she broke away from Clomere's grasp. "I need to get things in order and later I promise that we can play any games you want."

‎Clomere's eyes narrowed, her head tilting with contemplation. "If you say so Gwen... however I hope that you can take what I have in-store for you." She landed another kiss on Gwen's lips before seductively making her way out of the room.

‎Watching her departing figure, Guinevere couldn't help but wonder what games she would be indulging in.

‎***

‎"Congratulations on your completion of your task." Eric posed, a thin smile plastered on his face as he looked at the students in the Ark Facility. He has heard of the shifting axis in the outside world, the rise of Redfall and the fall of three kingdoms in it's hands. He dreaded what the future held but he was sure that the prodigies in front of him would manage to fend off the monster that was Guinevere.

‎But with each passing day his hope grew dimmer and dimmer. "So far you've managed to come to the end of your training..." He went on, his eyes shifting from student to student. "And it brings me great joy to see you all become the best versions of yourselves however there is still more to it."

‎His words coming to a halt landing on Brose. His gaze sharpened. "Some of you managed to surprise us, and that is great news as it proves that there is room for you to grow." The rest noticed his lingering gaze on Brose. "You will all be taken back to your academies, and it definitely has been an honor shaping you into what you are right now."

‎Eric stole a glance at a girl to the corner, she too had shown promising talent however Brose's glamour shadowed her. Ever since Jarren's departure, she had grown far more quiet. Not with resentment but planning, intentional as she spent her days shaping into being a monster in the making. However her talent wasn't as exceptional as Brose's making her fall short.

‎But he couldn't help but admire her dedication and hard-work. 'Is this because she talked something with Jarren ahead of time or her own choosing?'A question that ticked in the back of his mind, never answered and to some extent he wished that he never came to know what drove her.

‎After a few more words from him and Maeve, they were all given the permission to leave. Some broke into friendly banters, growing familiar with one another while Kaelin secretly slipped back to her own room.

‎*Knock-Knock-Knock*

‎Kaelin who was done with her luggage opened the door to see Brose. His face somewhat hesitant as he nervously looked around. "Can I come in?" His words filled with uncertainty, however her calm demeanor balanced the interaction. "Of course." Opening the door m, he walked in.

‎He looked around, noticed her packed clothes before his gaze drifted back to her. "Even though we've never interacted much back at school, I hope that we turn out to be friends." Kaelin kept her aloof visage, never once folding. "Or course Brose. I would live to learn from you."

‎She knew that if she wanted to grow stronger, that she would have to rely on others, even if it forced her to associate with an enemy of her ally. "That's great to hear. I'm sorry that I couldn't get in touch with you, you know how it's been for the past couple of days." His chuckles half baked teetering between casual and curt.

‎"Of course, is that all you have to say?" Her brow rising with suspicion. His pause hinted that there was more on his mind and yet he didn't confide. "... It's..." He glanced to the side. "It's nothing really." Kaelin's gaze in Brose narrowed, she had seen him manoeuvre with people and never once had he been as hesitant as he was at the moment.

‎With a click in her mind, she suspected his arrival in her room. "Are you here to inquire whether I know about you being a champion of the gods? Because if so then yes I know. Jarren informed me." Her words weren't laced with the venom he was waiting for, merely apathetic. "Oh, of course." His tone that of confoundment. "And what do you think of it?"

‎Still unsure of whether Kaelin harbored any I'll intentions towards him. 'Though so far hasn't bothered with me or any of these others, it would still be important to gauge her opinion of the matter.' Brose concluded in his mind. "I don't think you should be fighting this game. It's far above your league and yet you yearn to play. It's foolish."

‎Her words harsh though not hostile. 'It would seem that she has a neutral viewpoint of it. However I can't completely verify this based off her words alone.' He flashed an unnerved smile, scratching his head. "Of course but I don't plan on being weak forever. It's a matter of time before I take him down."

‎The temperature of the room dropped making Brose wonder whether he had misspoke. "Ha!" Kaelin began. "Hahaha! Isn't that funny. Jarren told me that you would be all stiff and uptight but never humorous." He let out a defeated sigh. "What?! Do you think that I can't scale my way into the heavens?!"

‎Kaelin's laughs grew dimmer, her gaze filled with mockery. "As far as I'm sure about you being a champion, in his game he makes the rules. He says what happens and what doesn't and your fantasy is something that he can't allow. I'm sure that the gods have told you to give already and be his trick, I'm still taken aback that you haven't."

‎Brose's eyes narrowed into slits, his tone indignant. "And what about you?! What rule as he made for you?!" His tone skeptical. "Me?!" She placed her hands on her. "Some toy he'll forget by the end of the week when he's done playing with me. There's no changing that so I'm ready for that time to come."

‎His face contorted into that of disgust. "Do you not wish to prove him wrong?! After all you're a human being, not someone's toy to dispose off once used." Kaelin didn't seem to care about his rants, a mocking smile gleaming once more. "Brose, in this grand scheme of things we call a game there are those at the top and those at the bottom. Those at the top dictate what happens to those beneath and you are not an exception."

‎Brose rose to his feet, fed up with the fruitless conversation. "It's a shame to see a bright spark like you give in to the darkness." She retorted, her words knives. "I haven't given in, I've merely opened my eyes to see the grim logic of the game. You're still in denial Brose but worry not, I'm sure that you'll learn at the end of the play."

‎Done with her theatrics, Brose charged towards her door and left, his chest heavily fuming however she didn't bother reacting. 'What you are Brose is a blind fool mistaking the righteous for true. It's not morality but those at the top who say what is right and what isn't.' She finalized her thoughts in her mind as she picked up her bag and left.

‎***

‎"Hah!" Brose tried to calm down, his demeanor flustered recalling his chat with Kaelin. "It would seem that Jarren has made her believe that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. He's not obsolete, even a monster like him has his limits.' His punch grazed the wall leaving a dent.

‎A voice from outside his room jolted him back to the reality that he was in. "Hey Brose?! Are you coming or not?!" Jasper, once a spoilt noble now humbled by the arduous hardship that he had to go through. "I'm on my way out!" His tone betraying the seething rage that stalled inside him.

‎"Good, because our ride's here. So don't take too long." And with that he heard his footsteps fade away down the hall. "Why does that excuse of a god think that everything's set in stone?!" It's only a matter of time before show them all what I'm truly capable of!" He gnashed his teeth I outrage as he landed another punch into the alloy aluminum walls.

‎*Bam*

‎His fist imprint was visible as well as a trail of blood, but his mind was too absorbed in something else to care about. "And I'll show you Jarren that you're not as invincible as you think you are." With a heavy sigh, he picked his bag and left his room.

‎***

‎"Hey, what took you so long?" Jasper inquired, the two making their way to the runaway. "It's just something I thought I lost, turns out it was in my bag the entire time." His nervous laugh failing to dissuade Jasper. "Hey...i think your hand is bleeding." Brose looked at his fist, stunned to see the traitor blood.

‎"I must have bashed my hand while in a rush to get ready is all." Not thinking much of it, Jasper let it slide as the two made their way into the black chopper. They watched the base shrouded in fog and secrecy fade away and replaced by lush green fields and golden wheat. "With how long we've been gone m, I wonder how the outside world has changed."

‎Jasper's words coming off as a whisper to Brose who was lost in thought. "Huh? Oh yeah I'm sure it has changed a lot." His words flat before diving back into his head.
