Chapter 105 - Chapter 105: The Ark's Gamble

‎"So you two managed to slip through the jaws of justice." Eric snarled, his eyes filled with contempt at the pair. Neither bothered with him as they boarded the chopper. "Well since you two will be the kingdom's pawns, naturally you'll have to be armed for such a task."

‎He mused, his words low as his eyes skimmed through the tablet on his lap. Still, the two never once bothered sparking a conversation. 'Why can't I kill him? And besides, if we do choose to run away, who would stop us?' Callista posed in Jarren's head.

‎'Because there's a well of opportunities to be had here. And there's something that I want you to have.' Jarren shot back as the chopper finally landed back at the Ark. Eric took the lead before leading the two into the training hub. A white expanse met the two, open and free.

‎Eric had his eyes probed at a biometric scanner and to the side a plethora of weapons came into sight. It wasn't just the usual swords and axes but modern rifles and other earthly arsenals as well. "This... is a high caliber pulse rifle. It can adjust to your element."

‎At the end of the room a dummy popped up. Eric fired the gun, it pulsed to life as it's gray color was now replaced with streaks of light. Eric embedded his malcore into the gun, adjusted the output and pressed the trigger.

‎*Zoom*

‎The puppet was bathed with light, the ray though wide didn't blister the dummy as much as it remained intact though singed and burnt. "There are many more weapons that you two can browse through so help yourselves." Aware that the two were willingly ignoring him, he didn't bother wasting any more time with them.

‎Callista was amazed with the rifle, Jarren merely reflecting a smile as he picked up a gun. His way around the gun was unnaturally familiar making her wonder. "I didn't think that you would be so acquainted with such weapons." She chuckled making him exude a light laugh.

‎"Well as a horror all kinds of technology becomes trivial to you." He aimed the pistol at one of the dummies.

‎*Bang*

‎A hot streak of fire followed, quick and compact scorching the puppet's head. Callista now curious picked up a sniper, light and constituted of carbon and other high grade materials that ensured that the weapon was not only light but powerful as well.

‎She took her time aiming before firing her shot. The sniper pulsed with a black glow before a crystal shard shot out.

‎*Bang*

‎The share instantly shot through the puppet. "However what use is this when I can accomplish the same alone." She aimed her finger at another puppet and mimicking a gun a shard shot out. As equally fast as the sniper's boring into the dummy's head. "That's because it's not for monsters like us. But some of these equipment are useful."

‎Jarren mused as he returned the pistol back onto the rack.

‎[{Ding: Jarren Velros, a new mission has been issued out for you}]

‎[{You shall be required to probe the kingdom of Othare, the necessary equipment will be given for the mission}]

‎[{1,000,000 merit points will be given for accomplishment}]

‎Callista however pouted realizing that she wouldn't be doing it with him.

‎[{Ding: Callista Vaewlyn, your presence is required by the king of Reuthar}]

‎She sighed, putting the sniper back onto the rack. Jarren's eyes browsed through the weapons presented to him. High grade rifles, crossbows, melees and high tech suits were laid out for him. As for the usual swords and maces, they now had a cleaner edge to them.

‎It wasn't long before he made his choice.

‎[{Ding: High grade rifle has been purchased at the price of 20,000 merit points}]

‎[{Ding:High grade visors has been purchased for 15,000 merit points}]

‎[{Ding: High grade tech suit has been bought for 50,000 merit points}]

‎And with that his body was wrapped with the new suit. Unlike the gray shirt and pants, he was now bathed in full jet black clothing. His face now masked with dark discreet glasses that gleamed faintly in the fluorescent lighting.

‎Callista fawned over his new look before glancing at the options she had. She let out a sigh, disappointed that she would be plagued with political conversations and chatter whole Jarren would be indulging in monsters and other high octane highs.

‎"It won't be long." Jarren mused, landing a kiss on her forehead before leaving. Callista looked around in the white room, suspicious whether his father had a hand in the matter before she took her leave. "Callista, please follow me." A subordinate said softly to which she followed.

‎***

‎Unlike the chopper, this time she left the Ark in a series of cars, each giving a wave of opulence. The ride was quiet, making her reflect as she wondered about Jarren's other significant others. 'Are they as playful or as malicious as me or not?' She asked to which she was met with a response.

‎'Who do you think killed Evara?' Jarren mused to her. 'So I'm not the only psychopath then.' Callista giggled as she saw the vast plains fly past her. 'You're not the only one darling. I'll tell you if anything of interest happens.'

‎***

‎"The goods have been relocated as per your instructions." A subordinate mused as he relayed the message to Diana who was busy engrossed in her work. "Good, you can leave for the day, I'll finish up here." Her tone flat as she skimmed through the papers.

‎The subordinate wished to interject but the words hung on his lips before shutting then up. "Well what is it?" Diana asked raising her eyes from her work. She had been sent to monitor over a city similar to Jarren and Callista however this was much more developed and way more inward in the kingdom.

‎'Does he really think that I can't do this by myself to have people monitor over my task?' Diana had long grown aware of the hands in the dark aiding her in her work. 'Seriously dad you need to have some faith in me.' She sighed as her subordinate took her leave.

‎It had already been two months and so far nothing out of the ordinary had come about. 'Those two should have finished their task by now.' She mused, pondering what they got as their reward. 'Or maybe they failed.' She chuckled as she finally rose to her feet.

‎She stretched out her arms, exhausted with her ministry over the city but well pleased with her work. 'Trade and security have been swell. I could kick it back for the rest of the month and it should be fine.' She smiled as she walked through the empty halls, alone yet completely safe.

‎Stepping into her limousine , it dragged her away back to her estate. A luxurious villa with all the modern accommodations one could wish for. Lights littered the place, guards donning suits walking about, all malcore experts.

‎"Your bath is ready Princess." A maid stated as Diana walked in. "Thank you." And with that she made her way to her room. The halls filled with art she didn't bother taking a second glance at, the place adorned with priceless artifacts that was clutter to her. Her bedroom door opened, inside promising her comfort and luxury.

‎Closing the door behind her, she took off her dress sighing. She looked at her reflection, aware of the faint eye bags that started to form. 'Looks like I'll have to kick back for a day.' She sighed, now left in thin high stockings and bra. Taking them as well, her body now covered with a towel, she made her way to the bathroom.

‎The steam already filled the air already easing her muscles. The scented bathwater ready to make her forget her worries however before she could bathe her figure, she heard a ripple in the water. Her brows furrowed, tension built in her muscles as she wondered who could be in her room.

‎"I know you're there so come out. The place is swarming with guards so you won't make it far." She was met with silence, the unnerving silence drew her closer to the bathtub, slinking the curtains back she was baffled to see a lady immersing herself in her bath. "Who are you?!" She immediately flared.

‎The girl remained aloof as she cupped her hands and poured a stream of water down her luscious purple hair. "You have a lot of luxury that trails you without question Diana, it would be a shame if you were to lose it all overnight." The individual mused as she finally opened her eyes to reveal her jade eyes.

‎Diana backed up, sensing danger from Clomere as she got ready to fight. "Wait!" Diana shot up as she realized that her malcore was stalled in her body making her unable to use it. "It's the same as your mother Diana. The two of you really do have some semblance between the two of you." Clomere smiled revealed her perfect row of teeth.

‎"You! You're the one who killed my mother!" Diana clenched her fists unsure of what to do in her situation. Facing the stranger in her bathtub could end up in her death and so did running out. "However luckily for you I'm not here to kill you. I want you to do something for me, something simple."

‎Clomere said as she gracefully rose from the bathtub revealing her body in full splendor. Diana subconsciously stepped back, clutching to her towel as Clomere stretched out her hand, her figure leaning on the bathtub edge. "I want you to accommodate me in a bath. I want to see and enjoy your body before my master gets his hands on you."

‎Diana was taken aback by the request, internally screaming to get as far away from this woman as possible. Her movements erratic as she grabbed a nearby towel and threw it at Clomere obstructing her vision however she didn't give chase.

‎*Click*

‎The door refused to open, her attempts of breaking it down ended with her own shoulder in pain. 'But how? My physique should be more than capable of taking down a wooden door.' She cursed as she looked at the door before looking back at Clomere who had removed the towel off her head.

‎"So what will it be? I would urge you to take it because who knows what you'll face when you're no longer under you father's protection." She chimed, her hand still outstretched. "I would rather die than take a bath with you!" Diana hissed as she kept on attempting to break down the door. Clomere sighed at a loss of expectation however she didn't bother with it too much.

‎*Snap*

‎Diana's legs buckled, her arms growing increasingly heavy as she felt the world spin around her. "What?! What did you do?!" Her response was met with a smile before her vision cut to black. 'Oh sweet Diana, I'm more than ready with the games that we're about to play. And your father's reaction will be icing to the cake.'

‎She stretched out her hand, mycelium and fungi wrapped Diana's unconscious body before dragging it into the ground. As for her presence, it vanished akin to the wind.

‎***

‎"Sir, we have a problem." James mused, his tone grave as he faced the king of Reuthar. The man had his back facing James, silence being James's response before a word shot through. "What is it?" The kin asked, his tone distant as he refused to turn. "It's... your daughter. I wouldn't want jump to the conclusion that she's dead but she's missing. We've searched the entire city she was overseeing and we haven't found as much as a trace of her."

‎A strange silence followed, James cursed inwardly as he kept his head lowered. "Your daughter should be here in a couple of days, is that correct?" James though taken by surprise answered. "Yes my king, though she's grown quite unruly." He replied bothered with the king. 'Does he not care about the disappearance of his daughter or has he simply given up?'

‎He couldn't help but wonder.
