Chapter 103 - Chapter 103: Ashes Of Horshaw

‎Nucanor finally grew weary of the wraith, choosing to finally let out his final form. His muscles bugled, his humane physique now replaced with that of a monster as he was bathed in black flames. His grin maliciously sadistic as he set his sights on the wraith.

‎'It's a movement based summon, moving only when I make a move.' Recalling his earlier encounter, he finally devised a way of dealing with the wraith. He shot out his hand, now burning with black flames before firing a beam at the creature.

‎*Whoosh*

‎The trail of fire incinerated everything that it came across. The corpses littering the ground instantly vaporized as the beam shot towards the wraith. 'It would seem that long ranged attacks don't seem to agitate it.'

‎*BAM*

‎The wraith was instantly halved before dissipating back into ash. 'I can't believe that such a weak summon would force me to enter such a state.' Just as he was about to make a step forward, the wraith instantly reverted back to it's original state. "What?!" His face blank as he shot out another without hesitation. This time the ray pierced the wraith squarely in it's head before stitching itself back up.

‎"I wonder whether this is the work of those two or someone completely new." Nucanor wondered as he stretched out his hands, breaking into a frenzy of maniacal laughter. 'Either way! I'll make them regret facing a Malgrave!'

‎*Boom*

‎The wraith was bathed in Nucanor's domain. He stood in the middle of it all, the dome expanding with each passing second covering nearly every inch of the forest. Those at Horshaw were amazed and fearful of facing such an attack, though Neil believed in himself, he was aware of what he was capable of and what was delusion.

‎Wisps of black flames covered every inch of the forest under his domain, his smile stretching far too wide to be normal. "Come out you wretched rat!" He cursed in the hopes of flushing out the puppeteer of the wraith however to no luck. Trees were instantly turned to black ash, bodies incinerated till there was nothing left and Nucanor sat at the middle of it all like a banished god.

‎His gaze on the wraith held optimism, hoping to snuff out the trick but it did more than just endure, it grew with each second. Every gram of ash that fell on the battlefield molded with it, forcing the wraith to grow in size, it's oblivion white eyes and gaping maw expanding and twisting unnaturally for reality to hold.

‎Nucanor's smirk faltered, dreading with what was in-store for him. "Hah!!" He doubled his domain size out of rage clashing with Callista's obsidian. Most feared that it would crumble but it remained firm. 'What? Her power... There's no way that she is of my league!"

‎Her domain persisted despite the tremendous amount of pressure he applied on it. He stretched till he covered the entire town in darkness, the sky akin to armageddon as the beasts of the sky and land caught outside cried in pain before turned into fine ash.

‎Most began to pray, others long lost their hope of survival while the two were busy with their love making, unamused with what was going outside.

‎***

‎And it was then that they all heard it. A laugh so eerie that it made them all wish that they were dead, gone to another plane. The wraith began to break into slow playful laughs, the being that watched was now chuckling as it kept on growing in size.

‎*Whoosh*

‎Nucanor tried to land a punch on the wraith, it phased through the creatures as it kept on laughing. "I see a corpse trying to evade the inevitable." The shadow mused, chuckling as it opened it's white maw swallowing everything in it's path. Nucanor now aware of the situation that he was in chose to flee, aware that this fight was nice completely out of his hands.

‎*BAM*

‎His figure crashed hard onto the ground, pressed in place by the shadow as it extended it's hand holding him in place. Like a cat finding a mouse as it began to open it's mouth, chuckling at it's trophy. It wasn't just Nucanor but Neil as well that was deeply troubled by this.

‎His entire body had frozen up, his eyes tearing as he saw Nucanor began to scream, wishing for help. "Someone? Anyone! Please! I'll pay you!!" His scream however went unanswered as his figure was suspended right above the wraith's mouth. "I wonder how delicious you really are, demon!"

‎And with that his figure vanished at the maw of the wraith that gobbled him up like a stone thrown into the ocean. His screams were abruptly cut by the wraith's cynical laughs as it towered above the town. "So many appetizing meals..." It grinned as it drew closer to Horshaw.

‎"But another time..." And with that it vanished, returning to ash. It's existence felt wrong to gaze at, Neil perplexed that he was crying watching the entire scene play out. "Wait! Is that the demon?!" One of his men shouted as he looked above them only to see Nucanor. Unconscious but most certainly him.

‎He too was trapped in an obsidian cage that fell unceremoniously to the side of the town, next to the entrapped abomination from before. The obsidian domain cleared up to reveal the destruction beyond. Any form of foliage was gone, creatures were nothing more than ash and the lands now desolate wastelands.

‎The demonic aura was dense, making most halt from venturing out. "Is that what those two can do or is there more to it?" Neil still couldn't believe that the pair were capable of such feats. And what felt like a joke to it all was that they weren't in the battlefield, locked in a room somewhere indulging in each other's bodies.

‎He collapsed to his knees, his breathe as shallow and frantic as he tried to process what that was. It wasn't just him but the townsfolk as well who were beyond baffled with the battle they had just seen.

‎***

‎Jarren and Callista stood next to each other, hands locked as they watched the people of Horshaw town look back at them. Their spiteful faces were now replaced with fear, not a single whisper from the crowd. "People of Horshaw, were all gathered here to expose the traitor that had jeapordised Reuthar. Such crimes shall not be taken lightly."

‎His voice light as if addressing to his subjects. Behind him was the beast still trapped and Nucanor who had finally regained consciousness. However there was a third cube hovering above the beast's cage. "Ta-da!" Callista said playfully as she unveiled the person in the third cube.

‎"Oh! My god!" Exclamations of shock and surprise echoed through the crowd as they saw the individual in the cage. "This is the man responsible for the active sabotage and treachery of Horshaw." The man in the cage was none other than Geraint Armon. However he was prostrated to the crowd as he tried to mask his genitals.

‎"Geraint?! But you were like a brother to me. You helped me during some tough times!" Neil shot up, his voice filled with disbelief at the unveiling. "Nucanor had threatened me with my family, I had to do it!' Geraint pleaded however Nucanor cut him off. "I never involved your family! It's a shame that you would lie even at a time like this!"

‎Jarren smiled, his gaze shifted from Nucanor to Geraint. "For your heinous crimes, you shall be executed." Neil's face twisted into shock. "People who have been affiliated with demons aren't condemned to death, they're shamed and left to rot." He protested only to be met with a smile that he had grown to fear.

‎"My game my rules." His chuckle making the crowd recall as to why they feared him. Geraint's cube was mixed with the beast's and without hesitation he met his end. His smooth flesh chomped down by the abomination, his cries instantly silenced by his death.

‎Blood covered the beast's lips as it thrashed Geraint's body around. His lower body now visible to the mass before it was quickly consumed. An execution that had no opinion from the masses, filled with humiliation and ruthlessness making the crowd wonder the difference between the pair and the demon they were about to execute.

‎"As for you Nucanor, I'll let the kingdom decide what will be your fate but in the mean time, you should serve as fodder to the beast." Before Nucanor could process what he meant, a quick sharp cut to his limbs followed. Both his arms and legs severed from his body and fed to the beast. As for Nucanor, his regenerative factor instantly kicked in repairing his severed limbs.

‎They didn't care about the public eye nor morality, they played they way they seemed fit. And if it entailed crossing borders of morality then they didn't hesitate. 'When will these two finally leave?' A statement Neil hadn't thought till now, wishing to be liberated from these two monsters.

‎By the end of the week, Eric finally made his arrival however a mere glance of the place made him fall into thought. "What did you two do?" His tone already picturing the chaos these two would indulge in. "Nothing much, just helping out as per the mission requirement."

‎Jarren mused, his tone flat as the two locked eyes. Eric turned to face Neil for confirmation. "It's as he said, he was helping out." His tone devoid of any excitement.

‎[{Ding: Congratulations on completing the mission.}]

‎[{100,000 merit points have been awarded as the reward, your special prize will be granted to you upon arriving at the Ark Facility.}]

‎The two didn't bother wasting any more time as they boarded the chopper leaving Eric with Neil. "I hope that they weren't too much for you. Reinforcements should arrive here tomorrow." Eric urged as the two made their way to his office. "Why of course. Thank you again for your support." Neil didn't break out of his banal state.

‎"Is there something wrong those two did?" Eric quickly realized that something was wrong. The earlier vigor that he was met with by Neil was now completely gone. The two finally made it to his office.

‎***

‎*Whoosh*

‎The thrusters roared to life, the two pleased to be leaving however Eric's face was anything but pleasant. "What is wrong with you two? Do you know that what you've done could land you both in serious trouble." The pair ever aloof to his ramblings sighed it off. "Could Eric, not will."

‎Callista added playfully as she took a sip of her water. "You two really think that you're above any form of consequences?" Eric could already see their bratty behavior becoming an issue down the line. "What went through your heads when coming up with that kill race? Do you know how your parents will react upon hearing this?"

‎Jarren crossed his leg over the other, his smile plastered on his face. "They won't think much of it when they hear about the beast that we caught. I hope that you can make great use of it." Eric recalled the demon and the abomination the two had caught. "The demon will be interrogated for intel. However that won't be enough to excuse your crimes."

‎The two didn't seem like they could care less about the legal repercussions their actions had. "Eric, when you have a gem like this then a small town like Horshaw is a small exception. We saved the mines and the people. So what is there to get yourself hung up over?" He chuckled, taking a sip of the wine laid out for him.

‎*BAM*

‎The chopper tilted, threatening to crash to the ground before it readjusted itself. Eric's aura emanated from his body, his sharp eyes locked with Jarren's carefree face. "If you two keep on with this unacceptable behavior, then I'll see it that you're both expelled from the Ark." His cod words rolling off Jarren's back.

‎"You underestimate power Eric, it can make even the most venerable and revered people do more than just kneel." He went on sipping his wine, indifferent to the monstrous aura that engulfed his body.
