With Konoha obtaining Iwagakure's troop distribution map, the tide of war in the Land of Waterfall shifted dramatically.

Now aware of the enemy's positions, Nara Shikaku launched a swift and strategic assault. Their sudden attack caught the Iwagakure forces completely off guard.

The result? Heavy casualties, critical defensive lines lost overnight, and a total collapse of their tactical advantage in the region. Iwagakure's dominance in the Land of Waterfall disintegrated in a single night.

With their numbers reduced and morale shattered, the battlefield quickly began to tilt in Konoha's favor.

Once recovered, Renjiro's team returned to the frontlines. Just as he had said—if you're strong enough, it doesn't matter if the enemy knows your every move.

Targeted tactics only matter when both sides are evenly matched. But at their current strength, few could match Team Renjiro in the Land of Waterfall.

Well... of course, if the enemy team was led by a Jonin-level shinobi, the brave and fearless Team Renjiro would run away.

As the fighting in the Land of Waterfall intensified, Renjiro was forced to use his Body Stimulation: Lightning Flash technique again and again.

His unique transformation—his body crackling with lightning, black eyes turning icy blue, and dark hair shifting to a bluish-white—became a striking image etched into the minds of both allies and enemies.

A name began to spread…

Lightning Flash! Blue Flash!

Two nicknames, one man. Both names described Renjiro perfectly after using his new technique.

Even though Body Stimulation was easier to use than Lightning Flash, it still placed a heavy toll on the body. At most, Renjiro could maintain it for three minutes before his chakra would be drained and his body began to fail.

To avoid collapsing in battle, he always limited each session to two and a half minutes, giving himself just enough time to recover before using it again.

Back to the main story—

During one desperate battle—where they were surrounded by an enemy force several times larger—Renjiro had no choice left.

He used Lightning Flash in front of everyone.

That moment cemented his title as the Lightning Flash of the Leaf, second only to the famed Yellow Flash of Konoha.

Thus, the name was born:

Konoha's Lightning Flash – Takane Renjiro.

Iwagakure Village

A storm brewed as the Tsuchikage's war council gathered.

BANG!

A loud crash echoed through the stone chamber as Onoki slammed the table in fury.

"What the hell happened out there?!" He roared: "A thousand shinobi—a thousand!—and they couldn't take a battlefield held by less than three hundred from Konoha?! And now they dare come asking for reinforcements?!"

The Iwa higher-ups remained silent.

Onoki, the Third Tsuchikage, had ruled for decades. His authority was absolute. No one dared speak when he was this enraged.

Crack!

"Ahh! My back!"

A sharp sound cut through the tension—Onoki clutched his lower back and groaned in pain. His lifelong enemy: lower back strain. One wrong move, and the pain would spike instantly.

After a moment, the pain eased, and he slumped back into his chair. Though physically calmer, his anger over the situation in the Land of Waterfall had not faded in the slightest.

His next order was cold and merciless: "Send my orders immediately. Commander Kitsuchi is stripped of his position! His incompetence brought shame and heavy losses to our forces!"

Gasps rippled through the chamber. No one had expected Onoki to be so ruthless—even toward his own family.

His face turned red with rage, veins bulging at his temples and neck as he shouted: "Tell that bastard to get out of the Land of Waterfall and return to the village... so I can kill him myself!"

Whoa!

Everyone felt a heavy dread settle over the room. Onoki's voice left no doubt—this wasn't just outrage over a tactical failure. Kitsuchi's actions had directly led to one of Iwagakure's most humiliating defeats.

No one questioned Onoki's seriousness. Kitsuchi might be family—even his son-in-law—but Onoki was still the Tsuchikage, leader of Iwagakure. That title came before all personal ties. And because Kitsuchi had brought disgrace to the Tsuchikage's name, his punishment would be even harsher.

But it wasn't simple. Even though Kitsuchi's poor judgment had cost them dearly, his loyalty to Iwagakure was never in question.

He was well-respected throughout the village and widely considered the top candidate to become the next Tsuchikage. While this defeat stained his record, his reputation and the support he had among the Iwa-nin were still strong.

The village elders could stay silent no longer. One by one, they began to speak, trying to calm Onoki and offer alternatives.

Onoki remained livid, his eyes narrowed as he glared coldly at them.

"Then tell me." He said sharply: "What's our next move in the war against the Fire Country?"

The elders looked at one another, uncertain, until one of them finally spoke.

"We've lost ground in the Land of Waterfall, yes—but Konoha doesn't have enough troops to fully control it. If we send more forces and strengthen our army, we can take it back through sheer numbers."

Onoki gave a small nod… then, with a serious expression, asked: "And what about that so-called 'Konoha's Lightning Flash'?"

The question sent a chill through the room.

Everyone in Iwagakure hated that name—especially now. It was Renjiro who had singlehandedly dismantled Kitsuchi's entire strategy.

He had eliminated the elite squad sent specifically to kill his team, then defeated Akagawa himself. After that, Konoha gained possession of Iwagakure's troop deployment map...

And within just two days, the entire tide of war had shifted.

Of course, not all of Iwagakure's losses could be blamed on one squad—but Renjiro and his team had become the face of Konoha's strength. To Iwagakure, they were now the most hated enemies on the battlefield.

Suddenly, one Iwa-nin shouted: "Then let's send our best shinobi! Konoha isn't the only village with gifted fighters!"

His words lit a spark. The other elders quickly joined in, voices rising together—

"Send in Iwagakure's strongest! Wipe that so-called Lightning Flash off the face of the earth!"

Onoki looked around at the fired-up elders and sighed inwardly.

BANG!

He slammed his hand on the table, silencing the room.

"Enough!" Onoki shouted.

The Iwa-nin fell quiet. The rush of emotion faded as reality set back in. Shaking his head, Onoki let out a slow, tired breath: "We'll send reinforcements to the Land of Waterfall. But I'm done betting everything on that path to invade the Fire Country."

The elders blinked, clearly confused. Seeing their puzzled faces, Onoki felt even more frustrated—they still didn't understand what he meant.

He took a deep breath and clarified: "Everyone expects us to keep fighting in the Land of Waterfall. Sending more troops will only convince them that we're sticking to the same plan."

The elders slowly began to nod, finally catching on.

But Onoki's voice turned firm and sharp: "The Fire Country has more than one border. So why should we limit ourselves to just the Land of Waterfall?"

Their eyes lit up with realization. Could it be—?

"Yes. Exactly that." Onoki confirmed, a sly smile appeared on his face.

He unfurled a large map and pointed to a region just beside the Land of Waterfall:The Land of Grass.

"Konoha will focus on defending the Waterfall front, expecting us to strike back there. So instead… we'll shift our main forces through the Land of Grass—and launch a surprise attack straight into the Fire Country!"

Excitement erupted across the chamber.

The Iwa-nin stood and cheered:

"Brilliant strategy, Tsuchikage-sama!"

And so, the plan was set in motion—to invade through the Land of Grass.

This decision would soon lead to the legendary Battle of Kannabi Bridge, the turning point that would give rise to the dark legend of Uchiha Obito.

---

Ever since Iwagakure's troop distribution map had been leaked, their battlefield advantage began to fall apart. First, Kitsuchi was pulled back, and then Onoki ordered reinforcements. The situation shifted so rapidly, it left everyone scrambling to catch up.

But before those reinforcements could actually arrive, the Iwa-nin finally quieted down.

They pulled back to the small scraps of territory they still controlled, like turtles retreating into their shells—choosing to lick their wounds in silence rather than stir up more trouble before backup arrived.

Thanks to that, the Land of Waterfall enjoyed a brief period of peace.

Sensing this rare lull, Renjiro requested a few days off to rest.

As usual, he spent his free time training in the forest behind the camp. To make it easier, he used Earth Release to flatten and expand a small clearing, turning it into a proper training ground.

Only after waking up that morning did he realize he had awakened his second chakra nature—specifically, Earth Release.

Just like the advice Kakashi gave Naruto when he was developing the Rasenshuriken, he explained that developing a second chakra nature is possible—but it takes a lot of time and natural talent, unless you use shortcuts like Shadow Clones or external help.

Renjiro had been training for quite some time to awaken Earth Release as his second chakra nature.

One of the methods he used was the Stone-Lifting Drill, where he stood on solid ground and focused chakra into his hands and feet, trying to lift a buried stone using only chakra—not muscle strength.

Another method was Wall Reinforcement—he built small mud or clay walls, then infused them with chakra to harden them like stone. This was a simplified version of the Earth-Style Wall technique.

After a lot of effort, Renjiro finally began seeing results. To deepen his understanding, he picked up a few basic Earth Release Jutsu scrolls from the command post in the Land of Waterfall. They weren't powerful techniques, but they were enough to help him grasp the foundations of Earth Style.
