Chapter 12 - Meeting Miko for the First Time, A Walking Ghost Magnet!?

Yotsuya Miko was panicking.

It all started about a month ago. Ever since that day, she discovered she could see things no one else could.

Like ghosts.

It was as if she had awakened some mythical sixth sense, the ability to see spirits.

But Miko swore, this was never something she wanted.

Who in their right mind would want to see ghosts?

No.

Absolutely not.

There was nothing cool about it.

In fact, it was a complete and utter disaster!

Worse still, she couldn't just see them, she could hear them too.

They'd constantly ask her creepy things like, "Can you see me? You can see me, right?"

It was driving her to the brink of madness.

She'd learned to cope the only way she could, by pretending she couldn't see anything.

She didn't know what would happen if she actually responded to one of them…

But just thinking about it made her sure it would be something really, really bad.

No way she was going to take that risk.

And now?

She was even more terrified than usual.

Because a huge ghost had been following her since this morning. Towering and monstrous, it just kept whispering behind her,

"Can you see me…?"

Miko was this close to peeing her skirt.

Why is this happening to me?!

Why am I so unlucky?!

She wanted to cry, but couldn't.

Then suddenly, a calm, powerful voice cut through the air:

"Amaterasu."

Boom!

"AAAAAARGHHH!"

A horrible, shrieking scream exploded from behind her. Miko turned instinctively, and saw something she'd never forget.

That enormous ghost that had been whispering behind her all day…

It was now completely engulfed in black flames.

The hellish fire consumed it rapidly, shrinking it until it evaporated into a mist of dark smoke.

With a gust of wind, it dispersed completely.

Wha…

Miko stood frozen, stunned speechless.

Then, she felt a gentle tap on her shoulder.

"Are you okay?"

Startled, she turned to see,

A super handsome guy.

Too handsome.

Wait, no, that wasn't the point!

Grabbing his arm tightly, eyes welling up with tears, she asked with a trembling voice:

"Y-You can see them too!?"

"Uh… You mean that Level 3 ghost just now?" Su Yang replied, a little amused.

Honestly, she looked like someone who had been holding it in all day.

Su Yang hadn't expected to meet Yotsuya Miko like this. Naturally, he'd spotted the massive ghost first, then noticed her standing there, petrified.

[You have killed a Level 3 Ghost. Simulation Points +100!]

Hearing the notification, Su Yang knew he had more than enough points to roll for a green-grade talent tonight.

"You can really see them! You really can! Uwaaaah!"

Miko suddenly burst into tears and threw herself into Su Yang's arms.

He blinked, baffled.

What the heck is going on now?

And then he noticed… the stares.

"Damn… In broad daylight, too?"

"What a scumbag. So handsome, and already ruining girls' lives."

"Ugh, but he's so hot. I'd fall for him too…"

"Should I go ask for his number?"

Su Yang glanced around, eyes narrowing.

One look from his Mangekyō Sharingan was all it took.

In an instant, all the onlookers mentally blanked, forgetting what they'd just seen.

Easy work for someone like Su Yang.

"Uh, are you done crying yet?" he asked, looking down at Miko in his arms.

Not that he minded the view, but his shirt was completely soaked.

"A-Ah!"

She snapped out of it and immediately bowed deeply.

"I'm so sorry, and thank you! Thank you so much for saving me!"

"I just got so emotional because… you're the first person I've met who can see them too!"

And at this angle… very nice.

"You mean those things?" Su Yang asked, pointing nearby.

Miko instinctively followed his finger, and immediately spotted another ghost floating their way.

She shivered violently.

"Yes! That's exactly it!"

Without hesitation, Su Yang activated Kamui, erasing the ghost in an instant.

[You have killed a Level 4 Ghost. Simulation Points +10!]

A tidy 110 points in just a few minutes.

Tch. I worked all night and got less than this.

Shaking his head, Su Yang looked at Miko.

"Wanna talk?"

"Yes! Yes! Yes!"

Miko nodded frantically. She'd finally met someone who could see what she saw, and not only that, this person had some kind of mysterious power that could actually destroy those spirits.

There was no way she was letting him go.

But one thing confused her…

I never said I was coming to your house!?

Thirty minutes later, she sat in Su Yang's living room, surrounded by elegant furniture and sipping high-grade tea she couldn't even name.

Miko stared wide-eyed, screaming internally.

Su Yang just watched her with amusement.

Gotta admit, teasing her is kinda fun.

"So… start from the beginning."

"Huh? Start what?"

Miko looked up, confused. Then she saw Su Yang's playful smile and realized what he meant.

"O-Oh! Right. Um… It all started a month ago…"

She began recounting her story, hoping to steer the conversation away from her accidental home invasion.

A moment later, Su Yang furrowed his brows.

Just like in the original story, Miko had suddenly gained her sight while waiting at a bus stop on a rainy day, scrolling her phone when it all changed.

"So, Su Yang-kun… Is there a way to make me not see those things anymore?"

She looked up at him, eyes full of desperate hope.

She was already beyond fed up with ghosts. She didn't want to see another one for the rest of her life.

Su Yang paused, thinking.

Maybe a sealing technique could work…

The problem was, he didn't know how to use sealing techniques yet.

Wait.

What about Izanagi's Sealing Method?

A Special Eye Technique of the Sharingan, where you can seal a "jutsu" into someone's eye through eye contact. The technique would automatically activate once a pre-set condition was met.

Since unlocking his Mangekyō Sharingan, Su Yang had already gained access to this power.

He couldn't seal away the ghosts themselves… but maybe, just maybe, he could seal a genjutsu (illusion) into her vision that would cause her to subconsciously ignore ghosts.

That might just work.
