Previously on Nathan's Journey...The trial of Nathan Vs the State finally began and a it was emotional , back and forth with twists and turns in testimonies but it's time for the final Testimony by the bartender, or his true face... The club owner that did all of this...
{It resumes to The club owner's devious smile}
It starts to drizzle outside as the clouds turn the sky dark. The caterpillar enters it's cacoon state as the butterfly protects it from the rain.
"No... No you can't tell me..." Nathan connects the dots. "He sent Emily to me... He sent CJ down his downward spiral, he gaslighted me into telling him everything, he sent that security to stop me in the security room... It was all..." Nathan thinks as he grits his teeth so hard you hear it crack slightly.
"Him!!" Nathan says his right eye only seeing red as he's so angry he is about to explode.
"Calm down Babe. Don't lose composure, there's still a possiblity we can win this, it's not like he can overwrite all we've done so far." Andrea tries to calm him in the face of this uncertainty.
"I know the jury are never going to side with me... This testimony will seal my fate..." Nathan thinks as he looks to the jury and sees nothing but darkness as their on his left side.
The rain outside picks up as the prosecutor walks to the stand.
"Marcus Rossi, you are the deciding factor in this trial your words will decide the fate of that man. So sir tell us your credentials for the record." The prosecution says smiling as flashes of lightning shines on his dark face.
"Well, I own the clubs North Shore, Uptown pub, and NO East. I run a legitimate business In and all across New Orleans. I own the club Nathan caused this whole case at." Marcus says as the lightning shines on his hands showing his gold rings and his hands and neck are covered in tattoos.
"I see, tell us the night of this incident." The prosecutor asks.
"Well it was a normal month end rush and business was good, the club was vibrant everyone was having a good time, I like working as a bartender at my club and Nathan was clearly getting way too drunk as he charged over $3 000 on his tab of just drinks, so it that tells you that he was under the influence. He and his friend demanded two of my best prostitutes, and I complied as my girls needed the cash to take care of their families and kids. Emily was one my best workers as she always showed up to work on time and worked well with the clients and brought good reputation to my club so when I heard she was killed by the hands of this man. I couldn't let that slide." Marcus says as it reveals more that he has an Italian accent.
"What do you mean 'You couldn't let it slide'?" The prosecution asks.
"I sat out to make sure this criminal is taken in swiftly, so I've complied some evidence from what the club." Marcus adds as he pulls out his own flash drive of footage. "If I may your honor."
"I'll allow it as it is relevant to your testimony." The Judge says.
Marcus plays the footage of what Nathan was doing, even though it was edited to make Nathan look worse. "As you can see, this is the night in question, you can see Nathan is the life of the party having no self control taking as much alcohol as he could get, he even brought drugs into my club and got high on top of being drunk he was being a degenerate. Then you can see here he abd his friend asks for the girls I go to the back and get them, they proceed to... Harass and coerese them the entire night just using them for there selfish desires until they left with them around 2am. And most likely they took them home and had there way with them and of the two girls... Only one came home... After she slept with George and heard what has happened... She was never the same she doesn't want to ever work under my business again because of men like Nathan. She's literally sitting in the corner of the court because she's so terrified." Marcus points and it's true as the girl that slept with George is hiding in the court.
"No..." Nathan says as he sees absolute lies being put on his name and what's worse the jury and the whole world believes him. "With the amount of times I've dodged death, the amount of effort I put to reach this point. It can't end like this, I just can't!!" Nathan thinks as he looks to Andrea and her stomach with his unborn child as his light in this infinite darkness around him. "I have to be there for her, I'm not gonna be like my father who never saw me grow up, I'll don't Andrea to raise our child alone, I want to be there for her! I want to be a better father than the one I had!!" Nathan grits his teeth as his eye wells up about to cry.
The skies outside turn completely dark as it's a thunderstorm storm, the caterpillar's cacoon is shaking violently in the wind on the edge of falling into the abyss.
"Nathan..."
"I can't let it end like this." Nathan mutters under his voice.
"Nathan!" Andrea shouts as she pulls on his suit.
"Andrea?" He looks to her and sees her light.
"I love you Natie." Andrea says looking him in the eyes her eyes say so much, but most importantly 'You've got this.'
"I love you too Andie." His one eye showing he's still holding onto that little ray of shining from her.
Even in the face of these unfavorable odds Nathan and Andrea still hold each other tight and refuse to let go. The butterfly wraps around cacoon staying together in the face of the abyss.
"And with all this footage of Nathan's killing of the random guy before he came to the club a second time, and yet again he asked for more drinks." Marcus's footage moves to when Nathan was at the club the second time. "He harassed me about Emily, he had a breakdown after the news showed the following of Joseph's murder and he felt remorse but he still refused to change as I made a good move. I have further proof of our voice conversation from those moments." Marcus's plays a tape recorder of everything that was said but it's been altered to make Nathan a monster as he confessed everything.
"I get where your going with this Marcus return to the podium..." The Judge takes off his glasses as he rubs his eyes. "Nathan, yours and Marcus's testimony completely contrast each other. And seeing you where under the influence and you've shown consistent sign that you have remorse for the victims but this new information makes this a tough decision... Defense this us your last examination, the witness is yours." The Judge says as he puts his glasses back on and continues.
Nathan's lawyer struggles to find anyway out of this.
"I've always been able to turn things around that's my strength that's why I'm one of the best lawyer in North Shore but..." He thinks as he no way out. "I can't stop this..." Says under his breath as he walks to cross examine Marcus.
Marcus sits on the podium with his legs crossed without a care in the world as he smiles his gold tooth shining in the lightning.
"Marcus, how can you say that Nathan Confessed when you caught him when he was drunk and not in control of his thoughts. You can't trust the words of a drunk person so that shouldn't count." Nathan's lawyer desperately tries to unvalidate Marcus's claim.
"Oh you want say that again, I got proof of when he admitted it right before this trial." He pulls out his phone with the recording from when Nathan was talking to Marcus outside the court room.
"Oh shit..." Nathan feels his stomach drop as he hears the recording. "He's taking everything I said out of context!!" Nathan thinks as he sees Marcus destroy his entire life right Infront of him.
"Is that enough proof for you Defense?" Marcus says in a confident tone. Both Marcus and the prosecution smile at Nathan and his lawyer.
The looks on Nathan, Andrea, and Nathan's lawyer's face all say...
"It's over..."
"No further questions your honor." Nathan's lawyer says accepting defeat.
"If there is no further questions, we will begin jury deliberation and the final verdict in a few minutes." The Judge says with a heavy heart.
The weight in the room sinks In anticipation of the verdict.
"Andrea... I don't want to lose you... After I've been with you ever since high school. Your the only girl that knew me and chose to stay, your the only girl I'll ever truly love." Nathan says as he holds Andrea it shows flashbacks of when they where young and they hugged like this full of hope and passion, now it's turned to a last hug possibly for forever.
"How could I let go of you... Your the only guy I can't live without, I've lost everyone... I don't want to lose you too your the only person that makes me feel seen. Your my everything!" Andrea says balling her eyes out into Nathan's chest as it shows flashbacks to her at her parents funeral and Nathan standing up for her when people bullied her for having Bipolar.
"I can't let go!!" They shout In unicen as they grip each other tightly crying heavily.
"Nathan... It's time..." Nathan's lawyer says as it's time for the final verdict.
"Really..." As Nathan reluctantly let's go of Andrea he turns around and sees nothing but pure darkness even in his working eye.
"This is truly how it ends up huh?" Nathan says looking out the window and sees the caterpillar and butterfly. "I feel them so much... I'm going through that exactly..." Nathan notices and acknowledges his situation as trying to stop the inevitable.
The jury walk in and the judge as well.
"Jury have you come to a decision?" The Judge Asks.
"Yes you honor." The Jury agree there decision set in stone.
"We find Nathan Sanders guilty with all counts and he should get the maximum jail penalty." The corrupt cop speaks for the Jury.
"And I concur with them..." the Judge says...
"In this case of Nathan Sanders Vs the state, Nathan has not proven beyond reasonable doubt that he is innocent and with this. I find Nathan Sanders..." Everyone waits on faint breath.
"Guilty on all charges!!" He declares as he hits his mallet, thunder strikes as he slams the mallet.
"He will be sentenced to life in prison with no bail or parole until 30 years with in prison. This case is closed. Security take Nathan away."
It's officially over... Nathan loses the case. The caterpillar in the cacoon falls off the window sill Into the dark abyss leaving the butterfly all alone.
Nathan is left completely speechless as he's handcuffed.
Andrea's heart drops to the floor seeing Nathan being Taken away.
"Andrea I'll always love you, please don't let our love end on a bad episode!" Nathan says as he's being aggressively taken away. "I will find a way back to you!! I promise, I'm not like everyone else who abandoned you!!" Nathan makes one final promise to her as he looks at her beautiful face one last time. "Please don't cry." He says smiling gently at her.
While Marcus walks out looking at Nathan with a demonic Smile.
"Arriverdeci" He says goodbye in Italian as he salites on his way out.
Nathan about to lash out tries to yell but he sees the doors closing in front of him as it's now complete darkness...
Last night has come and Gone... Now it's time to see what Tonight holds...
