The rain was steady now, a soft curtain that blurred the city's edges. Dee's head rested against Rayyan's chest, the rise and fall of his breathing a calm anchor in the cool air. She could feel the slow, steady beat of his heart beneath her ear, and for some reason it felt safer than she wanted to admit.
He tilted his head slightly, his lips near her hair. "You know," he murmured, his voice low and warm despite the chill, "the rain isn't the most beautiful thing here right now."
Dee's brows drew together faintly. "You mean the fountain?"
"No." He leaned just enough to look at her, the corners of his mouth curving. "I mean you."
Her instinct was to roll her eyes, but the way he said it — like he meant it, like it wasn't a line — made her chest tighten. She stayed silent, not trusting her voice.
After a few more moments of stillness, he took her hand gently. "Come on," he said softly. "There's somewhere I want to show you before the rain stops."
They walked through the quiet streets, his thumb brushing over her knuckles now and then, the sound of water dripping from rooftops following them. Eventually, the buildings gave way to an open terrace high above the winding streets. From here, the whole city unfolded below them, rooftops glistening, the wet cobblestones catching lantern light like scattered jewels.
Dee exhaled slowly. "It's… unreal."
Rayyan glanced sideways at her. "It's better now," he said.
She didn't ask what he meant — she knew. And yet, something about the way he looked at her made her pulse quicken.
They lingered there, watching as the mist lifted slightly, revealing more of the city's glittering sprawl. Dee thought about how strange it was: she couldn't remember a shared history, couldn't recall the moments that had shaped them, but here she was… wanting to stay.
She almost said it out loud — Rayyan, I don't remember the past, but after these days with you… I think I feel something for you. The words formed in her mind, hovering just on the edge of her lips. But she swallowed them, afraid of what speaking them would mean.
Rayyan broke the silence, his tone light but threaded with something deeper. "You know, if I could, I'd freeze this moment. Just the rain, the city, and you looking at it like it's the first sunrise you've ever seen."
Dee's lips curved faintly. "You really don't stop, do you?"
He gave a half-smile. "Not when the truth sounds like flirting."
They wandered on, finding another tucked-away courtyard where vines hung heavy with raindrops, and a small, arched bridge crossed over a stream fed by the fountain's overflow. Rayyan stopped in the middle, pulling her gently toward the railing.
"Every time I bring someone here," he said, "I remember why I love this city. But tonight… I think I've found my favorite view."
She shook her head, trying not to smile too much. "You're impossible."
"And yet, here you are," he replied softly, brushing a raindrop from her cheek with his thumb, his touch lingering for just a heartbeat longer than necessary.
As they headed back through the quiet streets, Dee felt that same warmth in her chest that had been growing all day. She didn't know what it meant. She didn't know if it was new or if it was something old, waking up inside her. All she knew was that she didn't want the feeling to stop.
As they wall pass by a floral shop in the street Rayyan take some time and get a bouquet of tulips and red roses for Dee .
"Wow" Dee says with a joy .
"You know you should say thanks" Rayyan says . "For what?" Dee ask .
"For..for..nothing ok let's go back" Rayyan says and start walking quickly .
Why can't she understand . She's always like this she ruined the mood .
He was so consumed in thought that he doesn't knows that Dee was still standing there .
"Hey grumpy," Rayyan hear familiar voice he turns back .
"What are you doing ?" He ask Dee . "I don't remember the past but the present you make it best so thanks Mr grumpy for being with me , for loving me ,and for saving me" .
Dee words just hit Rayyan heart . He rans towards her. He tugged her in his strong well built arms. "So, you do know how to say thanks ha".
"Well, I do_" they start looking at each other eyes . Maybe it's time Rayyan should take this opportunity to make a confession.
"Dee I wanna tell you something_" Rayyan words stop when he hear his phone ringing .
---
He take his phone of of his pocket.
It's his father . "Give me a minute"Rayyan tells Dee and take some steps far away from her .
He answer it "hello" his father reply " Rayyan get back here now . Your mom . she's_" he stop . "What happened to mom" Rayyan ask .
"She's suck . Please come back ". His father says and cut the call.
"Tell me more!" Rayyan shout but the call already ended. He call back but his father won't pick up .
"What happened" Dee ran towards him .
"My mom something happens to her". Rayyan says tears comes in his eyes .
"Dee I can't afford to lose her I already lose Maggie" .
"Maggie . Who is she ?" Dee ask .
"My big sister" Rayyan reply .
"It's okay Rayyan we are going back okay . Your mother she will be okay . Trust me" Dee says .
Rayyan call his man's and ask them to ready his private jet he is going back . He also tells them to take there luggage from the hotel room and come back.
