Chapter 14 - Summit Arc(2)

His lips curled up into a knowing grin, as if he was privy to information others weren't.

Craig giggled softly.

Secretary Arnold's eyebrows furrowed, he had a confounded look displayed on his face.

"Chief, is there any problem?" He asked.

Craig tilted his gaze, he took a deep breath.

Exhaling a sigh.

"Arnold's still here? I nearly exposed myself for a second" Craig thought. He coughed, clearing his throat.

"It's nothing Arnold, Inform the cabinet that I'll accept the summon and will make my way to the summit"

"There'll be an important meeting this evening. Relay the news"

Craig commanded.

Secretary Arnold bowed his head before exiting the scene, leaving Craig alone in the garden.

Craig's eyes returned back to the floating virtual panel.

"I knew this is a game crafted by a deity and from the explanation of the Adminstrators. This is the dumping site of gods and monarchs"

"But to think there's a main character in this game"

"If there's a main character. Could this be a storyline?"

Craig asked.

He careesed his jaws….

Deep in his thoughts.

"If this is a story…...what's my role in this story?" Craig asked.

He stretched forth his hand, he clicked on a page. His personal data was unveiled by the system.

He saw his game's status.

[Game Status: Background Character]

His gaze widened.

"I'm a background character? Aren't they the same as extras? We are just characters without purpose or goal"

"But if I advanced from an extra to a background character. Does that mean I have a special role to play?"

Craig asked.

"No I doubt that, this special mission only commands me to discover the main character's identity…."

He absently rubbed his hands through his silk crimsoned hair, his mind elsewhere as he pondered the problem.

"Arghhh…."

He screamed out.

"Forget it. Why am I even thinking about it this much? I'm just a measly background character right?"

"I'm not important in this story. My job is simple, build a nation befitting of my title as a Demon Lord right?"

"I don't need to fight anyone right? I don't need to be involved in any storyline, I just need to live my normal life"

Craig stated. His fingers tangled in his hair, a tense movement that reflected his mental struggle.

He took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh air.

He calmed his nerves.

His face beamed with smiles afterwards.

He faced the system window.

"The penalty of failing this special mission is death so I have to accept it. The first task is to participate in the summit right?"

"That's going to be a gathering of kings and feudal lords"

"Rulers of the Western Continent and that includes the King of the Neztra Kingdom"

"The system forbids me to use violence unless it deemed it necessary and grants me permission"

"I have to stick with diplomacy and intimidation"

"It's a good thing I came from the modern era. I learnt history back then in college, i know how those great men ruled"

"I'll be making use of their knowledge"

Craig grinned.

"How hard could it be?" He added.

"My lord. Your food is ready"

A feminine voice erupted from behind, Craig tilted his gaze to see a beauty standing before him.

Silver haired, purple eyed. Her silver locks cascaded down her back, contrasting with the pristine white gown that showcased her décolletage.

She moved her cerulean beast ears. Giggling softly.

The white gown's plunging neckline framed her porcelain skin, drawing attention to her cleverage.

Each movement she made caused her heavily endowed blossom to bounce….

Distracting Craig's view.

Her face beamed with smiles.

With just a glance, one could tell that she isn't human.

"Cassie?" Craig voiced out.

She giggled softly.

"Yes master" She answered, wrapping her hands around his waist as she had her head resting on his back.

She's his third summon demonic beast. A beast he tamed after clearing the dungeon.

A nine tailed fox demonic beast.

While following the traditions of the Village of Esmerald. A tradition which dictates the chief must be wedded.

The Demon Lord Zephyr had no other choice than to marry his demonic beasts.

The Mother of Ants Ramposa and the nine tailed fox Cassie. They're his wives.

Meanwhile…..

It was dark and empty...

Deep in the jungle, the abadoned castle looked like a ghostly sentinel. It's turrets and spires reaching for the sky like skeletal figures.

The castle's isolation was palpable, surrounded by the dense foliage of the jungle. It's secrets and stories locked within its ancient walls.

The castle's facade was a riot of color with orchids and bromeliads sprouting out from its stonework.

Their vibrant hues a stark contrast to the dull grey of the stone.

The moonlight shone down upon the castle.

And within the castle, faint footsteps echoed from the shadows.

The silhouette of the shadowed being was evident as he walked through the hallway. The creaking of the floorboards beneath his feet echoed through the silence.

The darkness seeming to swallow all sound.

Clad in black, his face hidden by the hood he's covered with.

His eyes flickered, unveiling the emerald hue.

His movement halted.

Standing before a gigantic metallic door, the doors were engraved by ancient runes and marks.

"Let me in"

He commanded, his voice echoed and the door creaked open. Granting him acess into the world beyond the doors.

He took a step forward, walking into the dark room.

He snapped his fingers.

The torches on the walls lit up, covering the entirety of the room in its radiating light. He exhaled a deep sigh.

And before him was a corpse laid-back on the throne. Dressed in his royal garment, all that remained were his bones.

"A king who was lost in his throne"

His voice echoed just as he glared at the skeleton sitted on the rusting throne.

An emerald flickering orb spawned into reality, he stretched forth his hand. Gently grabbing the emerald orb.

The orb emerald's light shimmered.

"What's the latest news?"

He questioned.

Just then three holographic figures glowed with soft, ethereal light. Their humaniod forms seeming to defy the laws of physics.

The images shimmered and pulsed, their holographic presences radiating otherworldly energy.

All holographic images had no force.

"He…he…he…he…he, to think the Reaper himself summoned us this time. Hope we're safe?"

A voice questioned.

Each holographic image radiated with different hues. The one who spoke radiated in cerulean hue.

Giggling softly. His child like voice were evident.

The entity clad in black rolled his eyes.

"A global summit is currently being on hold. This is four months after the failed invasion of a certain village"

"What are the west planning?" He questioned.

His gaze focused on the cerulean image.

"He…he…he..he..he. Dunno, Just because I'm a noble in the west doesn't mean I'm all knowing right?"

The childish voice echoed. He continued.

"But I can tell you for a certain, Mr. Reaper. The summit isn't going to be an easy one" the childish voice stated.

"What do you meant by that?"

The figure clad in black asked.

"Well apparently. The Neztra Kingdom were embarrassed after having their forces wiped out during the invasion"

"An unknown man spawned into the village of Esmerald and he wiped them out"

"From the report I received. He rebuilt the village, making it far more stronger and safer for the villagers"

"It's even attracting other villages within the region to join. But they're scared of the west"

"The summit was called specifically for this entity. No one knows who he is or what race he's from"

The childish voice answered.

The figure clad in black sighed.

"Well this is something that concerns the west. It's not worthy of my attention" He spoke out in a whispering manner.

"Any more news?" He asked.

The holographic humaniod enveloped in cerulean light careesed his jaws.

"Well it's because of the death of that Demon Lord that we were able to invade this game right?"

"Not even fate could find us in this realm but there was another report I received"

The childish voice uttered.

The figure clad in black frowned, his brows furrowed.

"Another report?" He asked.

"Yes. One of the dungeons in the Valley of Esorok was cleared and inside that dungeon, demonic essence was found"

The childish voice reported.

"Demonic essence?" The figure clad in black questioned.

"Yes Mr. Reaper, I was curious so I sent my servants to investigate it. This demonic essence belongs to that man"

"The fallen Demon Lord Zephyr"

The childish voice answered.

The figure clad in black was left in a state of shock. He clenched the emerald shimmering orb he held.

His eyes flickered.

"That's impossible. The Demon Lord Zephyr is dead! I made sure of that when I watched the heroes kill him"

"There's no way that's possible. Find out if one of his followers still live and kill them"

He commanded.

"Sure thing Mr. Reaper, I'm in charge of the west. If there's still remnants of the Demon Lord Zephyr in this world"

"They'll be erased!!"

The childish voice assured.

"Very good then. Get to work"

The figure clad in black commanded. Within seconds, he crushed the shimmering orb and the holographic images vanished.

He lifted his head, glaring at the skeleton of the dead king.

His eyes squinted.

"Tch…."

"Demon Lord Zephyr. You need to be dead, you need to be dead for the sake of the great cataclysm"
