Prologue

Prologue – EGO, Child of the Pit

They say that for millennia, fragments have fallen upon E'na.Shards from beyond tear through the sky like meteors, piercing the earth and the fate of mankind. Each one holds an essence, a power. The weak worship them. The strong use them.As for the Fragmented, they build their legend upon the ruins they leave behind.

But one day, a fragment fell without a sound. No crater. No impact.Just silence, too pure to be natural.

That fragment was not meant for anyone. So masked men hid it.They chose to make it their secret. They searched where no one ever looks, in the Pit, the slums where nameless orphans go to die.

They sorted, extracted, tested dozens of children.Erased. Discarded. Dissolved by the fragment's energy. All of them except one.

He endured it without understanding, without screaming.A skinny child, burned, his eyes hollow. He does not know his real name—perhaps he never had one.But he remembers the others, their faces, their screams, and the moment his body responded not like the others, not like the Fragmented: a Resonance unlike any other, powerful enough to wipe everything away.

The lab did not survive.

Since then, he has been changing. His mind slips further each day, madness growing with his strength.

"What is this voice whispering in my head?Urging me to kill the Cadrans, those corrupted clan lords, to bring down the Primordials, those false gods everyone worships?"

Why does he do it?

Because he knows that at the very top of this world there is one place he desires: the throne of ZEO, the ultimate being, the one who can reshape the world.
