Chapter 82 - Chapter 82: Ancient Magic, Out of Control, Legend

At that moment, within Sharl's line of sight, the reward information on the elber tree underwent a dramatic change.

[Flight Ability Greatly Enhanced (Diamond Level)]

[Levitation Charm Deduction Ability Significantly Enhanced (Platinum Level)]

Compared to the previous state, this was clearly a qualitative leap.

Based on Sharl's experience, Diamond Level abilities were something most people could never achieve in their lifetime. Possessing one already qualified a wizard as an expert.

A Diamond Level flight ability was likely enough to meet the qualifications of a professional Quidditch team!

Meanwhile, the Platinum Level enhancement of the Levitation Charm deduction ability would be a huge boost to Sharl's previously theorized triple spell combination: Levitation Charm, Levicorpus, and Liberacorpus. It could now be considered a major aid.

These rewards alone made Sharl feel that flying into the clouds had been completely worth it.

However, at this moment, he noticed another detail among the reward notifications from the elber tree—a faint Bronze Level glow. He hadn't paid it much attention at first, just casually glancing at it.

But the moment he read the description, his expression changed in surprise:

[Extremely Faint Perception of Ancient Weather Magic (Bronze Level)]

"Huh?"

"Ancient Weather Magic?!"

Sharl had heard of weather magic before.

For instance, the renowned Magizoologist Newt Scamander—his suitcase, used to house magical creatures, wasn't just enchanted with an Undetectable Extension Charm, making its internal space the size of a zoo, but also contained weather charms. Each area inside had a different climate to suit the needs of various magical species. Similarly, the ceiling of Hogwarts' Great Hall, which reflected the outside weather, was another example of advanced weather magic.

But "Ancient Weather Magic"?

That was a term Sharl had never encountered before.

His heart stirred slightly.

"Ancient Magic in the wizarding world seems to be on another level…"

"The Patronus Charm is considered Ancient Magic."

"Lily Potter's Love Magic, used to protect Harry and defeat Voldemort, is also a form of Ancient Magic."

"So what kind of power does this 'Ancient Weather Magic' represent?"

"Could it allow a wizard to actually summon storms, rain, or even lightning, like in the old legends?"

A storm of thoughts rushed through his mind—but they soon faded.

After all, it would take at least half a year for the elber tree to grow from seedling to maturity. He might not even be able to harvest its rewards by the end of his first year.

Even then, the reward was only a Bronze Level perception of Ancient Weather Magic.

Mastering it would take many years—at least until he could propagate and graft the elber tree.

It was too early to think about all that now.

Then, with extreme care, Sharl took the elber tree out of its bottle. Preserved for many years, the tree had long yearned for the skies.

Sharl didn't even need to cast any spells—it floated up on its own, reaching for the clouds.

Its delicate roots pierced the cloud layer and buried themselves.

The elber tree nestled within them, fully hidden.

A system notification flashed in front of Sharl:

[Planting Successful]

He also saw a bright reward orb floating in his vision.

Only then did he truly relax.

"It'll be a long time until this tree matures," he thought.

"No point staying in this cloud layer."

"Time to go back to Hogwarts."

Turning his Nimbus 2000 around, Sharl prepared to descend.

But just then—

The magic stabilizing the Nimbus 2000 suddenly turned chaotic.

The broom plunged downward like an arrow loosed from a bow, carrying Sharl down from twelve thousand meters.

Even Sharl's calm expression grew solemn.

"The Nimbus 2000 is out of control?"

He looked back—and saw that ice had encrusted the broom's branches, turning it into a near ice sculpture.

It made sense.

He had flown far beyond the Nimbus 2000's design limits—into thin air and extreme cold.

Wizard brooms weren't built for such altitudes. Wizards flying that high with only their physical bodies had to face freezing temperatures and oxygen deprivation. The broom manufacturers probably never expected someone would be insane enough to fly to such a height.

Thus, the Nimbus 2000 had failed.

Its magic destabilized by the altitude and extreme conditions.

Sharl frowned deeply.

No wonder the elber tree's planting reward was so high—this had truly been a life-threatening task.

He looked around—the world spinning chaotically.

The ground raced closer and closer.

The rapid shifts between weightlessness and crushing pressure could rupture the organs of an ordinary person.

Even with his Legendary Level Life Enhancement ability, if he hit the ground at full speed, he might not survive.

He acted quickly.

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

"Levicorpus!"

"Levicorpus!"

He repeatedly cast the Levitation Charm and Levicorpus, trying to slow his descent.

They worked—but only partially.

The broom's speed was still far too great, and Sharl's magical reserves were limited.

Despite his best efforts, he was still plummeting fast.

He gritted his teeth.

If this continued, he'd likely end up like Neville Longbottom in his first flying lesson: at minimum, broken bones.

That wouldn't be the worst thing, but Professor Sprout would undoubtedly force him to stay in the infirmary for at least a week.

What about his job?!

A strong sense of resolve surged in his heart.

"No! Just like the West can't lose Jerusalem—an office worker can't afford to lose their job!"

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

Another Levitation Charm—this time, the result was clearly different.

The downward force dramatically decreased.

Two surges of magical resistance slowed him more than ever before.

Sharl quickly checked his system panel.

Sure enough, under his abilities tab, the Levitation Charm, previously Bronze Level, had upgraded to Silver Level!

Even Levicorpus had developed noticeably richer silver luster.

They had both improved in a matter of seconds?

Realization struck.

"Could this extreme weightlessness and G-force environment be ideal for training these spells?"

He didn't have time to ponder it further.

He focused on casting Levitation Charm with all his might.

The upgraded spell provided a much stronger force of resistance.

It might not prevent a crash, but at least…

He wouldn't break anything.

Maybe not even a scratch.

No sick leave.

Job saved.

At the Quidditch pitch, the Gryffindor team was practicing.

Their faces were bitter and exhausted.

One thought circled in their minds:

"Wood is insane."

Ever since Harry had watched the Hufflepuff team practice, Wood had doubled down on training.

They were suffering.

"When will this end?" they silently cried.

Meanwhile, Harry had something else on his mind.

Hagrid had asked him to invite Sharl for tea.

But no one had seen Sharl since their last class.

It was like he had vanished.

"Did he really fly into the clouds?"

Harry, playing Seeker, instinctively looked up at the sky.

He noticed something.

A black dot, spinning and descending.

Much larger than a Golden Snitch.

He narrowed his eyes to get a better look.

Wood noticed and frowned.

"Harry! Why are you stopping? We can't slack off! We have to beat Hufflepuff!"

But Harry kept watching.

The black dot grew larger.

Was it a person?

Was it... Sharl?!

And... his broom was out of control?!

Harry immediately reached for his wand.

"Levitation Charm—wait, how does that spell go again? What's the incantation?"

But before Harry could remember the details—

Sharl, freezing cold and surrounded by high-altitude air currents, slammed into the ground headfirst.

Leaving a perfect human-shaped dent.

Everyone froze.

Harry went pale.

Could he possibly still be alive?!

Captain Wood opened his mouth, already turning to call Madam Pomfrey.

But then—

Sharl stood up.

He brushed himself off and checked the Nimbus 2000 he had cradled during the fall.

It was intact.

He sighed in relief.

Then, looking at the stunned Gryffindor team—including Harry, the Weasley twins, and Wood—he waved and said cheerfully:

"Hey there."

"Sorry, I flew a bit too high. Broom malfunction."

"Please, don't let me disturb your training."

The entire team looked at each other, then turned to Wood.

"Captain… who did you say we were going to defeat?"

"Defeat Hufflepuff with Sharl…?"

"…Me?"

Just then, as Sharl turned to leave, he paused.

He felt something odd in his body—a strange warm current rising.

"Internal bleeding?"

He checked quickly.

No pain. No discomfort. In fact, he felt better than usual.

He opened his system panel again.

His gaze fell on the ability he'd had for a long time:

[Life Enhancement (Legendary Level)]

There was no mistake.

Just as he had fallen, the brilliant white glow of that Legendary Level ability had grown slightly brighter.
