Chapter 6 - Way to earn

Lin Feng dashed down the stairs, his footsteps echoing against the wooden steps like a hurried heartbeat. At the bottom, standing near a small table with a steaming mug of coffee, was a man in his thirties. His beard was neatly trimmed, his pale skin carrying a faint weariness, yet his brown eyes shone with quiet steadiness. Dressed in a simple shirt and slacks, nothing about him screamed wealth or grandeur—but his presence carried a grounded strength. He had pale skin, a neatly trimmed beard, normal brown eyes, and black hair.

This was Lin Renwang. To the world, just another ordinary man. But to Lin Feng—he was the uncle who had mysteriously disappeared in his previous life.

Lin Feng's eyes welled up. The childlike body betrayed the storm of emotions .

LIN FENG (running, breathless, voice cracking):

Uncle! Uncle Renwang!

LINRENWANG (turning with a faint smile, casual tone like teasing a kid):

Little Feng, what's with all that rush? What are you up to?

LIN FENG (forcing composure, voice carrying unusual maturity):

Uncle… I need a favor from you.

LIN RENWANG (chuckling, raising a brow):

What is it, kiddo?

LIN FENG (steady, composed, eyes locked on him):

Uncle... I want to learn business, build my own company, and become the richest man.

Lin Renwang blinked, then suddenly burst into laughter, nearly spilling his coffee.

LIN RENWANG (laughing):

Business? You're too small for that, Feng. You should be playing with toys, not companies.

LIN FENG (earnest, unflinching):

Then… at least introduce me to some of your friends who know about business.

LIN RENWANG (sighs, then smiles as if humoring a child):

Alright, alright. I'll contact one of them. But you—go take some rest first.

Later that day, Lin Feng sat at the study table, scribbling furiously on a notepad. Thoughts raced faster than his hand could write. Suddenly, an idea struck him like lightning.

LIN FENG (shouting, eyes shining):

I found it!

Just as he bent over to write, the door creaked open. Lin Renwang stepped in—this time with another man.

LIN RENWANG (with a faint grin):

Say hello to my friend. We studied in the same university at…

LIN FENG (cutting in quickly, standing):

H–Hello.

UNKNOWN MAN (calm, assured tone):

It's nice to meet you. Myself, Gao Yusheng. Representative of China's RedHawk Capital.

Lin Feng ( inner thought):

G–Gao Yusheng? The man who, in just seven years, built a company that managed nearly 29 billion yuan annually?

Uncle… you were friends with someone like him?

GAO YUSHENG (to Lin Renwang, lightly serious):

Renwang, can I talk to your nephew for some time?

LIN RENWANG (nodding, stepping aside):

Of course. I'll give you two some space.

The two sat on sofas opposite each other. The silence was heavy, broken only by the ticking of the clock.

GAO YUSHENG (leaning forward):

So, little man, I hear you want to start a company. Your ideas… aren't they too greedy? Wanting to become the richest man in China?

LIN FENG (steady, eyes unwavering):

It's not greed. It's my dream. To build something that lasts. To stand above what broke me before.

The reply made Gao Yusheng raise a brow. He lowered his cup slowly, a faint smirk tugging at his lips.

GAO YUSHENG (eyeing him, voice casual, swirling his cup):

So tell me, Feng. Why do you want to do business?

LIN FENG (straightening his back, voice collected):

Because business is the only battlefield where money writes history… and power becomes permanent.

The reply made Gao Yusheng raise a brow. He lowered his cup slowly, a faint smirk tugging at his lips.

GAO YUSHENG (leaning forward slightly, curious):

Then what's your aim, kid? What's the grand dream behind those words?

LIN FENG (eyes sharp, voice firm, almost too heavy for his age):

To conquer this world. Not with swords, not with politics—

(he leans in, locking eyes with him)

—but with wealth, influence, and a name no one can erase.

Gao Yusheng chuckled, tilting his head back, the laugh echoing in the room.

GAO YUSHENG (grinning, tapping the armrest):

Ambitious. Very ambitious. But tell me—how much capital do you even have?

LIN FENG (without blinking, voice flat):

Nothing. For now.

Gao Yusheng set his cup down with a soft clink, his grin widening.

GAO YUSHENG (mocking, amused):

Nothing builds nothing, boy.

LIN FENG (cutting in, leaning forward, tone sharp as steel):

Empires are never built with money first. They're built with vision. Money follows vision.

The words landed like a stone in still water. Gao Yusheng's grin froze for a moment before turning into a thoughtful smirk. He studied the boy, this time more carefully.

GAO YUSHENG (probing, testing, tapping his finger on his knee):

And what if your vision fails?

LIN FENG (sits back, arms crossing, voice iconic):

Then I'll create another. Failure only scares men who live small.

(his gaze hardens)

I wasn't born to live small.

The silence that followed carried weight. Gao Yusheng's amusement faded, replaced with something else—a glint of recognition. The boy in front of him didn't speak like a child. He spoke like a rival.

LIN FENG (leaning forward slightly, voice earnest but measured):

Uncle... what about you? Will you help me? Guide me?

GAO YUSHENG (smirking, almost bragging):

Dreams are fine. But I'm already president of Redhawk Capital . I manage billions of yuan every year. To make me help you, do you even understand the scale you're talking about?

LIN FENG (voice sharp, iconic):

Then all I need to know is—can you help me grow my money? Can you make me rich?

GAO YUSHENG (laughs, shaking his head):

You? A child? You aren't even qualify as my client.

LIN FENG (leaning forward, calm but determined): Uncle, let's make a bet then.

GAO YUSHENG:

A bet? Alright... go on.

LIN FENG :

Uncle if I earn 10 million in 10 days , you should make me your client.

LIN FENG (smiling faintly, voice steady):

I don't how. But in ten days, I'll have enough to stand in front of you as one.

GAO YUSHENG (bursting into laughter, waving his hand dismissively):

Ten days? You're overestimating yourself, kiddo!

Lin Feng didn't flinch. His gaze burned with determination far beyond his years. The room fell silent again, heavy with unspoken challenge.

GAO YUSHENG (laughing, mockingly):

Ten million? Hah! Even if you make just one million in ten days... I'll work under you!

LIN FENG (grinning, eyes steady):

Deal. Then, Uncle... let's meet again in ten days.

GAO YUSHENG (standing, brushing off his suit with a grin):

Alright then. Let's meet in ten days. We'll see if your words carry weight.

He rose from the sofa with the ease of a man used to making decisions that bent others' futures. The air he left behind carried a strange mix—mockery, challenge, and a faint trace of respect. Lin Feng stayed seated, eyes fixed forward, his small fists tight but his heart steady. Lin Renwang, on the other hand, still looked as if the world had flipped upside down.

GAO YUSHENG (turning to Lin Renwang, chuckling as he heads toward the door):

"Renwang, your nephew is too much. Hahaha! He almost got me curious".

The laughter echoed down the hallway as he left, lingering longer than the man himself. Lin Renwang rubbed his face in disbelief, while Lin Feng finally exhaled, the weight of his vow settling onto his shoulders like iron.

The door clicked shut behind Gao Yusheng, leaving a quiet tension in the room. Lin Renwang motioned for Lin Feng to step aside, guiding him to the balcony where sunlight slanted across the floorboards. The air smelled faintly of coffee and wood polish, but Lin Renwang barely noticed.

LIN RENWANG (arms crossed, brow furrowed, voice low, cautious):

Feng… what were you thinking back there? That man… he's not someone to toy with.

LIN FENG (calm, eyes steady, voice firm):

I know, Uncle. But I need to start now. I want to learn from people like him… I want to grow.

LIN RENWANG (leaning against the railing, rubbing his temples, disbelief in his tone):

Grow? You talk like you're already an adult, like you understand the world. You're… just a kid.

LIN FENG (leaning slightly forward, composed but intense):

I'm a kid in body, maybe. But my mind… my experiences… they aren't small. I can handle more than you think.

Lin Renwang blinked, searching Lin Feng's face. There was no bravado, no childish boasting—just raw certainty. He realized this wasn't reckless arrogance; it was determination born of something far heavier than his years.

LIN RENWANG (finally, a soft chuckle, half exasperated, half impressed):

Alright… I can't stop you from chasing this. But you'd better be ready. The world doesn't give lessons for free.

LIN FENG(nodding, voice unwavering):

I don't need it to be easy. I just need to learn.

The sunlight shifted as they stood in silence. Lin Renwang's worry lingered, but beneath it, a flicker of respect grew. Whatever path Lin Feng had chosen, it was already in motion-and for the first time, Lin Renwang felt a chill, as if the boy was already planning something the world hadn't even imagined.

LIN FENG (quiet, eyes distant, voice calm but full of intent):

Just wait… you'll see.
