Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Hatred / New Life

I was wandering through the slums of Lexiconia, shouting insults at everyone as usual, when I turned a corner and felt something sting me from behind — it was a knife, stuck deep into my back. I turned around, but the culprit had already vanished into the crowd.

It was obvious. I should have expected it. With the kind of life I led, sooner or later someone was bound to retaliate. I couldn't complain — it was the path I had chosen, to carry the burden of hatred on my shoulders. That, however, was my duty as a "VerbTank"… but my assassin couldn't have known that.

As I was losing consciousness, though, something went wrong. I opened my eyes again. I wasn't in any crowded street. I wasn't even bleeding out anymore. I saw small limbs — tiny arms and legs flailing in the air. They were mine.WHAT KIND OF WEB NOVEL SITUATION IS THIS, I thought. Apparently, I had been reincarnated, as impossible as it might sound.

Two years later

It's been two years since I was reborn. I reincarnated into a normal family. Both of my parents were hard workers and stayed out until late. I was an only child and spent most of my time with my babysitter, who was pretty distracted, so I had plenty of time to figure out things about this new life through books, the internet, and television.

I was born in Lexiconia again, but everything worked completely differently. First of all, there was no system related to words — in fact, no system at all. What was trending, though, was a VRMMO. Things like that didn't exist where I lived before, only in works of fiction. This game was called WordCasting, a fantasy game where anyone could use and create their own magic entirely through words. The game instantly caught my attention. Thanks to the experience I had with the "power of words" in my previous life, I could become a professional player and make a ton of money.

Of course, I was still too young to play — or even do anything on my own, really. And in this version of Lexiconia, there was apparently a law that prohibited anyone under 14 from buying a Full Dive VR device. So the road ahead was still long.
