Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The System Appears

Chapter 6: The System Appears

Orion slowly stood up. After sitting for several hours straight, his legs felt a bit numb. He looked out the window. The sun, which had been hanging high in the sky, had now set. Dusk enveloped the Konoha ninja village, and countless ninjas were coming and going along the streets.

I can't believe how fast time flies. It's already evening just from extracting chakra. But the time wasn't wasted. I successfully extracted my chakra, and from now on, it will be much more convenient. I can extract it whenever I want without so much effort.

Many Konoha ninjas were returning from outside the village. After a hard day's work, they were preparing to submit their completed mission reports, collect their due rewards, and head home to rest.

"Ding! Congratulations, Host. The system is about to activate. Please prepare to welcome the system."

"What? The system is activating? Did I hear that right? It can't be an auditory hallucination, can it?"

An expression of disbelief covered Orion's face. He had been in the world of Naruto for three years, a full three years. In those three years, forget about a system, he hadn't even received any of the usual benefits that came with being a transmigrator. Nothing at all.

Orion was about to conclude that all this system stuff was just a lie, something to fool people. But the voice he just heard reignited a glimmer of hope in his heart.

"A system! So this high-and-mighty, pretentious thing is finally going to arrive? Damn it, for three years I waited and waited till I was about to die, and you just had to show up now."

"Hmph, however, since you've decided to appear, I'll forgive you. It's not like it's completely unforgivable!"

A smile spread across Orion's face. In his three years in the Naruto world, today was by far the happiest. Today, he obtained the Chakra Extraction Technique, successfully extracted energy from his body, fused it into chakra, and now, a system was about to activate.

The system is about to activate! What does extracting a little bit of chakra even count for? Once the system is on, I'll be able to level up even while lying down. Then, won't thrashing the Nine-Tails or something be a piece of cake?

"Haha, that picture is just too beautiful."

After hearing the system's notification, Orion immediately lay down on his bed, preparing to welcome its arrival.

One minute later, the system still hadn't come.

Two minutes later, the system still hadn't come.

Three minutes later, five minutes later...

There was no sign of any system. He could only see a mosquito flying around his body, its buzzing noise driving him crazy.

Suddenly, the mosquito stopped, landing right on Orion's face.

Damn it, I can't take this anymore. A tiny little mosquito dares to suck my blood? I am a child of destiny! My blood is the blood of destiny! And you, a mere mosquito, dare to suck my blood? This is absolutely intolerable!

I'm not putting up with it. Watch me smash you with my Tathagata's Palm!

Orion quietly raised his right hand. Slowly, slowly, when it drew near...

"Smack!"

A palm struck his own face.

A palm print instantly appeared on his face, red and swollen. You could tell from the look of it that the force behind that slap was not small at all!

It should be dead now, right? Orion lifted his right hand to check. Hmm, something's not right. Where's the mosquito? It's not on my hand. Where did it die?

"Bzzzz, bzzzz."

The sound of the mosquito's flapping wings appeared again.

Suddenly, Orion noticed the mosquito flying towards the window. Hmph, you know what's good for you, running away so quickly. Otherwise, I'd have sent you straight to the next life.

Ten minutes later, there was still no sign of the system.

Oh my god, was it really an auditory hallucination? I've already encountered something as absurd as transmigration, but it didn't even come with a system for me. This is just unreasonable, completely unreasonable.

Sigh! And here I thought a system really existed. Maybe I was just thinking too much. Heh, well, I already got to transmigrate, I probably shouldn't ask for too much.

Orion's mood sank a little. It was normal to be disappointed that the system didn't show up. But was it really a hallucination? Not necessarily!

Just as Orion was about to leave the room, the mysterious voice in his mind appeared again.

"Ding! Congratulations, Host. This system has been activated. Beginning to scan the host's personal information."

"Ding! Congratulations, Host. Scan successful. The system will now proceed to bind with the host. There will be a little pain. Please be prepared, Host."

"Ding! Congratulations, Host. Beginning the binding process."

It's not a hallucination, it's not a hallucination, it's not a hallucination! When Orion heard the voice in his mind again, he became excited, thrilled.

Three years in this world, and the system was finally activating. Could a life of happiness be far behind?

But the system paid no attention to its host, speaking on its own, giving him no time to react. There were only two or three seconds between each sentence.

What can you do in two or three seconds? Nothing at all. At most, it allows you to finish hearing the system's previous sentence. At most, it allows you to understand what the system wants to do.

React? That was a joke. It gave you no chance to react at all!

As soon as the system finished speaking, a burst of intense pain erupted from within his body. And it wasn't just any ordinary pain; it was truly excruciating. It was as if countless bullet ants were desperately tearing at him, as if a knife was carving into his skin.

This pain emanated from deep within his body and was impossible to stop. Orion rolled back and forth on the bed, but the pain didn't lessen in the slightest. It's so painful, so incredibly painful! Why can't I pass out? Why can't I pass out?! If I passed out, I wouldn't be in so much pain! Why can't I just faint? The agony continued, endlessly radiating from the depths of his body, as if it was trying to completely remodel him.

"Ding! This system has detected the host's dangerous thought. A reminder to the host: the system is currently binding with you and remodeling your body. If you faint at this time, the host will die."

The system's voice spread through Orion's mind. This voice was like a potent medicine; it seemed to make the pain disappear for a second or two.

In an instant, I was dumbfounded, stunned. Damn it, thank god I didn't pass out, or I wouldn't have seen tomorrow's sun. Thank god, thank god.

Also, why didn't you, the system, say so earlier? If I had fainted, wouldn't I have died?

Orion asked the system in his mind with a hint of reproach.

"Ding! Host's query detected."

"Ding! Because the host did not ask, this system was not obligated to answer. The previous announcement was merely a reminder upon detecting a dangerous thought."

Damn this system, Orion was speechless.

The pain continued, but it had already weakened a lot. It seemed the body remodeling was about to end.

Another half an hour later, the pain in his body completely disappeared.

Orion was drenched in sweat, and his body was covered in a lot of black, sticky substance. It looked rather disgusting. He twitched his nose, took a breath, and was instantly shocked.

Holy crap! Damn it, why does it stink so much? The smell makes me want to puke.

Orion looked at his hands, legs, and body—all covered in this disgusting black, sludge-like stuff. Ugh, I can't stand it anymore. I'm going to the bathroom to take a shower first!
