"Director William Chen disappeared six months after your parents died," Roman's words echo in my mind as I stare at the photograph on the table. The man's cold eyes seem to mock me from the glossy surface.
"Disappeared how?" I ask, my voice deadly quiet.
Marcus shifts uncomfortably. "That's classified even from us. But there are rumors he didn't just vanish. Some say he was eliminated to cover up something big."
"And others say he's in hiding," Roman adds. "Protected by people with more authority than Dragon's Shadow."
I lean back in my chair, processing this information. Every lead seems to spiral into deeper darkness, more questions without answers.
"There has to be someone else who knows what happened. Someone involved in the original investigation."
Roman flips through the second folder. "There is. The local detective who handled the initial crime scene before Chen took over."
