After Fall break Scott got dressed got on his bike and headed to school he just put it in the bike rack just as a car went and parked right next to him Jackson Whitmore the bane of his and Stiles school life got out barely gave him a glance as he said "dude watch the paint job" he said it like Scott had gone out of his way to hit his car door Scott began to move and soon spotted Stiles getting out of his jeep he has an annoyed look on his face but once he sees Scott he smiles at the sight of him "hey".
"Hey you okay?" stiles growls a little in frustration "I'm fine I guess I'm more bummed that my dad grounded me for half of break because he caught me snooping on one of his calls speaking of we need to talk after school about the call he caught me on" Scott says "if it's what I think it's about then reason I haven't said anything is because 1 Idk how long it is 2 how much it will cost and finally 3 I haven't told my mom yet" "my dad has those 2 things written down and they need an answer before December 1st" " I will talk to her tonight but it would help if your dad was there to explain things" already covered we'll just go out for pizza like we used to".
Stiles asks about that night as he got captured by his dad Scott mentions that he got bit "what do you think it was?" I'm not sure it.... kind of sounded like a wolf" "nope not a chance" "but I heard a wolf howling" "no you didn't" "why's that?" "because there are no wolves in California haven't been for 60 years" "really?" "yes really so whatever you heard couldn't have been a wolf" "well then if you don't believe me about when I say I heard a wolf you won't believe me that I saw the other half of the body" "what why didn't you say anything?" "you're kidding me" "i wish I'm going to have nightmares for a month" "This is so freaking amazing! I mean all of this it's seriously the best thing to happen to this since.... the birth of Lydia Martin" he said as he caught sight of her the girl of his dreams.
And when she was within earshot "hey Lydia" Stiles said with a smile "you look-"she walked right by them not even acknowledging their existence "like you're going to ignore me " he deflated but in his quick bout of sadness he never noticed a girl who walked right by him who seemed to have the same intense crush on him that Stiles does for Lydia but scott noticed he caught her eyes she sends him a message with her eyes hoping that Scott can help her he chuckles gives her a thumbs up she smiles then goes on her way once he was done pouting he looks at at Scott with a playful scowl "you're the cause of this you know".
"Uh-uh" Scott said rolling his eyes in amusement as he followed Stiles in the building once they caught up with each other "dragging me to your nerd depths I'm a nerd by association scarlet-nerded by you" the two of them found themselves at their lockers but they still had 10 minutes before class starts so Scott drags Stiles to the locker room to talk Stiles asks "why did you bring me here class starts in 10 minutes" Scott says" I know but we need to talk over the years I've left you alone with your crush on Lydia mostly because it didn't hurt anybody but over the years I've had to turn away several girls who were interested in you and what's worse is Idk if you even care because all you think about is Lydia."
Stiles is shocked to hear this but before he can say anything Scott says" I'm not mad at you Lydia was once a nice girl until she became popular now she acts like we don't exist even though we were all friends in elementary school but recently as of 7th grade just like how you've noticed how much Lydia has matured into a woman someone else has noticed how much you have as well and she begged me to talk to you to give her a chance I've talked to her a few times we've hung out in the library doing homework together she's a nice girl who'd actually be good for you" Stiles processes everything that he just heard it takes a few minutes then asks who is it" Scott says "Erica and believe it or not how she may look now is just an awkward phase of her development.
I've met her mother and trust me Stiles you don't want to let this one slip by" Stiles is instantly curious he asks what about her mother" Scott says" according to Erica except for the brown hair she went through exactly the same thing then when she turned 21 she became incredibly beautiful her grandmother did the same except she was 18 and she had blonde hair" Stiles asks "is it some kind of weird family trait?" Scott says "don't know but their family proves the whole ugly duckling and swan story" Stiles sighs then says I will give her a chance but I will still protect Lydia when the situation calls for it" Scott says "I would expect nothing less.
They head to class get into their seats with 3 minutes to spare their teacher her place in front of the class "as we all know over the break there was a body found in the woods and I'm sure your eager little minds are coming up with various macabre scenarios to what might've happened"Scott and Stiles shared a look to each other they didn't have have to they kind of had somewhat of an idea of what happened that night "but I'm here to tell you that they have a suspect so now you can put all of your attention on the work that's on your desk" Scott hears a phone ringing he looks around for the one whose phone was ringing in the middle of class.
when he started to hear a girl's voice "mom don't you think three calls is a little over doing it on my first day?" his eyes looked until he zoomed in on the window to a girl outside of the school "everything but a pen" she said looking through her bag "oh my god don't tell me that I forgot a pen okay okay I got to go love you" Scott kept hearing this girl all the way from the outside of school to when she went to the principal's office he could actually follow their conversation up until he knocked on the door to announce themselves to their class the whole class watched as in walked a new girl Scott tensed at the sight of her his instincts telling him that she will bring harm to him but he just found her cute.
"We have a new student here at our school this is Allison Argent please do your best to make her feel welcome" Scott saw that she was heading to the desk behind him and he reached into his bag and pulled out his spare pen then held it out for her she smiled as she took it from him stiles watched the whole thing wondering how he knew that she needed one but still smiled at how nice his friend always is to people in the hallway Scott and Stiles were watching as the new girl Allison was talking with Lydia even though they were on the other side of the hall they could still hear them as Lydia isn't exactly quiet they listened as Allison was getting her fashion sense approved by Lydia.
Lydia asks "where did you get your clothes I love them" Allison says "my mom worked for a fashion boutique back in San Francisco" and you are my new best friend" Lydia declared as if it was a royal proclamation "okay can somebody tell me how the new girl is here for two minutes and she's already in the same clique with Lydia Martin?" a girl said coming up to next to them "she's hot beautiful herd together" Stiles explained "yeah" Scott breathed out already tired of this conversation it was so low that nobody heard him say it soon, Jackson came upto them and gave Lydia a kiss that had Stiles stiffen at the sight of it he cringed so much that he missed a bit of their conversation where Lydia started to praise Jackson as team captain.
"You mean like football?" they heard Allison ask "football is a joke here" Jackson said cockily the conversation then steered towards the party that lydia was throwing Friday night when Allison was asked if she would be going Allsion said that she couldn't go because it was family night Scott and Stiles found themselves in the locker room changing into lacrosse gear the two of them have really improved over the summer and even more on Fall break it's all they did but play doubles with Boyd and Issac unfortunately due to Scott's new role as assistant coach he's only allowed to play at practice to help the members of the team learn the strategies otherwise he's riding the bench during each game Scott his spot as the opposing team Issac took his spot as in line as did Boyd and Stiles.
"McCall!" "yeah coach" you're in goal" he said not missing a beat as he threw the goalie stick at him Scott looked at the stick in confusion "but I've never played goalie before" "I know" Coach said unflinchingly "scoring some shots will give the boys a confidence boost first day back kind of thing plus you need to step outside of your comfort zone" "what about me?" "try to not take any in the face" he advised before he went to the bench Scott spared Stiles a look as he has played goalie a few times who just shrugged and mouthed do your best Scott just huffed and put on his helmet then got into the goal.
Allison's voice soon reached his ears he also started to hear Lydia's as well he started to move his head around until he found the two girls "who is that?" he suddenly heard her ask Lydia "Him? I'm not sure who he is why?" Lydia answered "he's in my english class" Allison answered back the conversation had a different effect on Scott than he thought it would he actually doesn't care if she likes him or not she's attractive but he can already tell that dating her comes with some issues that he doesn't know if he should get into besides something feels off about her those thoughts were cut off as a whistle blew Scott cringed when it did while he was trying to stop his ears from hurting one of the team hit him with a ball right in the face.
Everyone is laughing at him he gets up and gets his head back into the game he focuses only on doing his job as goalie then it seems like the same person who threw it that the ball that he threw slows down to slow motion giving him all the time in the world to catch it so he maneuvers his body to catch it but not enough to give himself away and he keeps doing that with everyone that throws it the last one is Jackson not believing that a nobody like McCall can be this good so he went as hard as he could and as fast as he could and Scott made sure that his catch was upto human standards of ability.
"Oh God" Scott mumbled as he sees that Jackson's muscles aren't holding back in the slightest as he is sprinting towards Scott but again Scott catches it and tosses it back to Jackson who just blinks in amazement "yes! whoo that's my friend" he loudly points out alright settle down Coach said as he came forward " a good start but we're not done yet McCall park it on the bench you're done for the rest of practice" Scott tried to protest but Coach shut him down he says "don't even try you remember our deal you only get 30 minutes a day and only during practice" Scott nodded "Danny, you're up! pointing to the goal despite the good job that Scott did in goal everyone can clearly see how much better Danny is compared to him as Scott missed alot of stuff that Danny gets due to his experience Jackson is till annoyed but sees that his friend is also alot better than he used to be as is Issac and Boyd.
He also sees that even Greenberg has improved as well and he was completely useless as a lacrosse player as was Stiles Scott Issac and Boyd not only that but he can clearly see that all five of them have been working out for quite sometime as they now have muscles when they didn't two years ago which means that they must have also been practicing as well over the past two years as Greenburg and some of the lesser members of the team now are upto average skill level for any highschool team player Jackson is getting annoyed at this rise in skill from the team he wonders where it's coming from and how they are doing it although he's somewhat relieved that McCall isn't going to play first line as he wouldn't be able to handle that if he was.
