Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Next Time, I Want to Be on Top

"Why are you called Tang San? Do you have two older brothers or something? One named Tang Da, and the other Tang Er??"

Suifeng lay lazily on the grass, hands behind his head, casually asking the question.

Tang San rolled his eyes. "Of course not. I'm an only child."

"Then why is an only child named 'Tang San'? Shouldn't it be 'Tang Da'? And how do you even know you're an only child??"

Tang San ignored Suifeng's nonsense and instead asked, "How come my Controlling Crane, Capturing Dragon technique didn't work on you just now? You shouldn't have had the strength to break free."

Suifeng grinned oddly. "Controlling Crane, Capturing Dragon? That a skill of yours?"

Tang San suddenly felt like he had revealed something, but after a second thought, he realized that after years of hanging out together—even from the time they wore split pants—there wasn't anything worth hiding.

He nodded. "Yes, it's one of my martial techniques. Though I know a few others too. But you don't seem ordinary either."

Of course, Suifeng had read the novel and knew exactly what Tang San could do. But Tang San didn't know anything about him, so Suifeng didn't want to say too much. "It's the power of the Wind."

"Wind?" Tang San looked thoughtful. Now that he thought back on it, there was a force that clashed with his Xuan Tian Power during their fight—he just didn't expect it to be wind-based.

"Haha, let's go! Time to eat. We'll fight again tomorrow!"

Suifeng spat out the dogtail grass in his mouth, turned around, and walked off.

In his mind, a thought floated by:

Is the purpose of a leaf's life merely to return to its roots?

Tang San cursed quietly:

Tch! Fight again my ass. You just run away like a damn loach—so slippery!

Suifeng had recently discovered that he could use the power of wind in simple ways—like giving himself a speed boost or using wind resistance to slightly counter enemy attacks. For example, when Tang San used a Controlling Crane, Capturing a Dragon, Suifeng could used gentle wind currents to disrupt its control.

But more importantly, Suifeng could use the wind to make his clothes flutter and his hair sway gracefully—creating an ethereal, God-like aura. Was it useful?

To be precise—not at all.

But it was cool!

Pleasure is temporary. Coolness is forever!

His Drifting Step footwork had also started to take shape after two days of training. With help from his understanding of the wind, he could now last a little longer even against someone as strong as Tang San.

Granted, Tang San was internally unstable and wasn't using full strength. But that was already impressive—after all, just a few days ago, Suifeng had been an ordinary person. Can't expect miracles overnight.

The road must be taken one step at a time.

And sh*t must be eaten one bite at a time—eat too fast, and it'll get stuck in your throat!

With the Invincible Myth System, how could he not rise to the top? He'd leave behind his legend in this world of Douluo.

After dinner with Grandpa Jack, Suifeng offered to wash the dishes and scrub the pots. Under Jack's grumpy glare, he slunk back to his room.

"Hmph! I'm not so old I can't move. What do I need you washing dishes for?"

Old Jack grumbled a bit, then finished up the last of the chores.

Lying in bed, Suifeng was bored. He wanted to scroll through videos, check social media, or play games. Unfortunately, none of that was possible now. He could only lie in bed, aimlessly.

Some things—you don't know how much you'll miss them until they're gone.

He glanced down below his waist and sighed.

Even his only form of nighttime entertainment as a teenager was off the table.

Too damn hard!

"System, can you play anime in my mind?"

[No.]

"Then what's the point of you?"

[To make the host stronger. ]

"Getting stronger isn't hard. I'll shave my head tomorrow, isn't that how it works?"

[Balding doesn't equal power. That logic is unscientific. Please work hard and believe in science. ]

Suifeng: ......…

Are you seriously talking to me about science? In a world straight out of a novel?!

The next morning.

Early-rising villagers from Holy Soul Village were already delivering fresh grain and vegetables to Nuoding City. As long as they weren't too lazy, villagers here could make a good living selling produce.

Since the village had entered a well-off phase, many children now had lots of free time.

"Suifeng, where are you going?"

A boy, seemingly the leader of a group of kids, called out.

"I'm going to train. You guys play," Suifeng waved as he jogged toward the village entrance.

"Hmph, trying to act cool. Look at that soft skin—he doesn't look like a real man at all."

"Exactly! He's just some orphan taken in by the village chief, always hanging around with that poor blacksmith's son."

"But… but he is so good-looking."

One little girl said, eyes sparkling.

The group went quiet.

They wanted to say they weren't jealous—but they were. Looks and Martial Spirits were inherited. You couldn't choose either. And right now, there is no such thing as a Korean-style plastic surgery clinic in Douluo. So, if you were born ugly—tough luck. Unless your Martial Spirit was top-tier like Tang San's… you'd be ugly forever. No saving you.

Today's goal: 50 laps!

A beautiful day begins with morning calisthenics.

The first-generation elementary school broadcast routine— "Young Eagles Take Flight!"

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8…

2-2-3-4-5-6-7-8…

Workout done. Now it's time to begin the full "Run Around Holy Soul Village" mission!

O swift wind, grant me strength!

Let the others rely on people—I'll rely on the wind! So warm and supportive!

Suifeng felt like even if he went back to Earth right now, he could join the Olympics, win a gold medal, and never worry about food or clothing again.

Tang San was training his Purple Demon Eye technique on the back mountain. When he saw Suifeng running, a satisfied smile formed on his face.

The world never lacked geniuses.

But if a genius didn't treasure their talent—if they slacked off and avoided hard work—they'd eventually fade into mediocrity. By the time they regretted it, it'd be too late.

Tang San believed he was a genius.

From the outer sect of the Tang Sect, he had created Buddha Fury Tang Lotus, the ultimate hidden weapon. If that didn't qualify as a genius, then nothing did.

And after observing and sparring with Suifeng for the past few days, he realized:

Suifeng was a genius too!

Suifeng had an uncanny sense of danger. Despite Tang San not using full strength in the first couple of days, Suifeng was still able to hold his own.

By the third day, Tang San had used 80% of his power—and it still took him 15 minutes to beat Suifeng. That kind of terrifying growth rate was shocking. Was this guy a monster? His battle instincts were way beyond normal.

Suifeng's days had been incredibly fulfilling—running, doing tasks, and cultivating during the day; sparring with Tang San in the evening.

He could feel his body changing—getting stronger every day.

It was thanks in part to his daily training, but also due to his constant sparring with Tang San.

Every time Tang San attacked, Suifeng could sense it—barely managing to dodge at the last second.

If he knew what Tang San thought of him, he'd be embarrassed. "Evenly matched"?

More like "Tang San keeps coming, and I never get to strike back."

All Suifeng could do was block. He didn't have the strength to hit back at all.

Jade Hand, Controlling Crane, Capturing Dragon—warning signs everywhere!

He just couldn't win. He could only rely on his Drifting Steps to barely scrape by.

Morning, Day 6

[Ding! Random Mission: Run 100 laps around Holy Soul Village within one week. Reward: Random! (Complete)]

Suifeng was thrilled. It had been several days—and finally, a completed mission! Time for a reward!

What would it be? A powerful technique? A divine weapon? A god-tier pet? At the very least give him an offensive skill! That way he could finally hold his own against Tang San.

Getting constantly pinned by that guy was just too frustrating!

Hehe, Tang San, once I claim this invincible reward… just wait. Next time—I'm gonna be on top!

He thought smugly to himself.

[Claim reward? ]

Suifeng nodded.

[Claim reward!!!]

He nodded again.

[CLAIM REWARD!!! Please mentally say "yes" or "no," stop nodding already. ]

Suifeng glared at the damn system.

You know what I mean, don't you? And you still ask? As if I care about your stupid reward!

"YES, YES, YES. Claim it right now!!!"
