"I think the better question," Sebastian Thorne said, adjusting his silk tie as he surveyed Evelyn's office like a conqueror surveying new territory, "is what this nobody is doing here."
His eyes fixed on me with undisguised contempt. The expensive suit couldn't hide the calculating coldness beneath his polished exterior.
"Get out," Evelyn said sharply, rising from her desk. "You have no right to be here."
Sebastian smiled, but it never reached his eyes. "Actually, I have every right. I'm here to discuss business. The future of your company, to be precise."
"We have nothing to discuss."
"Oh, but we do." Sebastian moved to the window, gazing out at the city skyline with his hands clasped behind his back. "Tell me, Evelyn, how's your miracle product development coming along?"
Evelyn's jaw tightened. "That's none of your concern."
"Everything about your company concerns me. Especially when it's about to become completely irrelevant."
