Chapter 6 - Hateful Woman

Chapter 6

----

On that fateful day, when I realized the bitter truth that there was no cure for this disease, I was overcome by a hysterical wave of laughter, a strange happiness and ecstatic joy I had never felt before. I could finally see the end of this miserable nightmare approaching!

But unfortunately for me, in my stupidity, I completely forgot that the disease had turned my triumphant laughter into something resembling the snoring of an old man who had spent a century smoking cheap cigarettes. It was a disturbing and pitiful sound like death rattle.

My family thought I was moaning in pain, so they rushed to donate gold coins to the church, hoping to save me from this impending torment.

Ironically, after my family and other frightened, desperate families made their donations, the illness disappeared in a mysterious manner. At that moment, I was certain that there was a dirty conspiracy behind the kind and gentle facade of the cunning and greedy old man, Mildog.

...

After five hellish years and countless failed suicide attempts, I decided to calm down and temporarily postpone my quest for death.

Instead, I devoted my time to gathering knowledge about this world and training my weak body, which resembled a desperate tree branch.

Forget the goal of becoming the strongest, marrying a princess, and living happily ever after. I realized that I needed to become the strongest so that no living creature in this world—starting with that hateful maid, Cleara, who had been on my case for the past six years—could stop me from achieving my ultimate goal: death!

Since that day, I have spent ten years moving freely around the palace, buying various books from street vendors and merchants, and even listening to wandering poets, even though their words were like those of foolish women, full of lies and false emotions that aroused disgust.

I suppressed my deep sense of boredom and listened carefully to every word they uttered, then began to classify and organize the secrets of this complex world, meticulously planning every part of my perfect suicide plan that would astonish everyone.

Of course, I put the plan to kill Cleara aside for a while for purely tactical reasons, but I certainly never forgot that hateful woman!
