Faced with this surge of energy, Clark didn't even have time to react before being directly struck. Then, Nick Fury and the others saw a patch of starry sky appear where Clark had been standing.
One second later, the starry sky vanished, and Clark, along with Diana standing beside him, also disappeared.
As Clark and Diana vanished, the Cosmic Cube returned to its previous calm state, like a mischievous child who had finished playing a prank—no trace of the violent energy it had just released.
"Where did they go?" Nick Fury couldn't help but turn to Erik, who was conducting the experiment, staring at the spot where Clark and Diana had just disappeared.
"...Can I say I don't know?" Erik gulped nervously, seeing everyone looking at him. He had never imagined the Cosmic Cube would fuse Clark and that so-called magician together in an instant. The women from the heroine group had been instantly dismissed.
"Can we bring them back?" Fury was still thinking about his Avengers. Now, one of the most powerful and peaceful candidates had been whisked away by Erik. Fury could feel a headache coming on.
"I... I'll try." Erik's confidence was clearly shaken as he spoke.
"Coulson, pull up the star map from the surveillance just now. See if we can match it with any known star charts."
Watching the unsure Erik, Fury knew they likely couldn't count on him to find Clark. So he'd have to rely on himself.
In an unknown part of the universe, a small blue dot appeared in the void.
The moment it appeared, it began to expand rapidly. In less than half a second, it became a ten-meter-wide blue energy sphere, which then exploded. With a flicker of blue light, Clark and Diana materialized in outer space.
Fortunately, Clark and Diana were both capable of surviving in space—Clark being a Kryptonian and Diana a demigod. If it had been ordinary humans, there would've been nothing left to do.
In fact, when Clark realized Diana had been transported to outer space with him, he nearly panicked. But when he saw that she was unharmed, he breathed a sigh of relief.
"Diana, are you okay?"
Though there was no air in space to carry sound, Clark had learned during his last trip to Nidavellir that he could transmit his voice directly into others' minds.
"…" Hearing Clark's voice, Diana tried to respond that she was fine, but quickly realized she couldn't communicate telepathically like he could.
So, Diana simply smiled and nodded at Clark, signaling that she was alright.
Seeing that Diana could survive in space, Clark relaxed. Even though he knew Diana was powerful, appearing in the vacuum of space was still enough to make him worry for her safety. Thankfully, she was just fine.
After making sure Diana was okay, Clark scanned the surroundings and soon spotted a nearby planet. It was about the size of Earth's moon, but unlike the moon, it had an atmosphere.
Clark could even see plants and animals on the planet. There was no doubt—it was teeming with life.
He reached out and grabbed Diana's arm, pulling her close by the waist, then flew toward the planet with her in his arms.
Diana was surprised and a little alarmed when Clark first grabbed her. But just as she was about to resist, his voice entered her mind: "Don't move. I'll take you to that planet first."
Then she realized Clark wasn't trying to take advantage of her—he was simply flying her to safety. She could even feel the tremendous G-force of the flight. If it were a normal person, they'd be crushed by the pressure.
In fact, Clark had deliberately slowed down to make the trip more comfortable for Diana. It took him over ten seconds to reach full speed. He wasn't sure how much force Diana could endure, so he reduced acceleration to be safe.
Even though she knew Clark's intentions were good, Diana couldn't help feeling a bit awkward being held in his arms. But did she have a choice? Unlike Clark, she couldn't fly or speak telepathically. If she tried to go alone, she wouldn't reach that planet even by next year.
Even with Clark's speed, it still took them a while to reach the planet. After entering the atmosphere, they finally got a closer look at it.
It was stunning—like something out of a sci-fi movie. A beautiful alien world.
"Clark, can you let go of me now?" Diana said, seeing Clark still holding her while gazing at the landscape.
"Oh, sorry." Clark immediately let go, realizing he had been holding her the whole time.
But after letting go, he kind of missed the feeling. Diana wasn't heavy—only slim in the right places, and... well, the parts that weren't supposed to be slim felt just right. Clark found himself missing the sensation.
"Clark, do you know where we are?"
Unaware of what Clark was thinking, Diana looked around after stepping out of his embrace, realizing she had no idea where they were—or if they were even in the same universe.
"I don't know either, but this planet seems full of life. Let's try to find some locals and get information. But be careful, Diana. This planet feels... strange."
"Strange how?"
"Since we arrived, I haven't heard a single sound. It's like—aside from the plants—there's no other life here."
When Clark first saw the vegetation, he assumed there must be life here. He planned to ask the locals about their location—whether they were in the D-universe or the Marvel one.
But after listening carefully, he realized: aside from the plants, there didn't seem to be any living beings on this moon-sized planet.
"No life?" Diana frowned. She knew full well: in a place this full of life, the absence of intelligent beings usually meant one of two things—
Either everything they saw was fake, or something existed here capable of wiping out all life. Either possibility spelled trouble—especially for travelers like her and Clark, who were clearly lost.
Diana didn't doubt Clark's words. Maybe it was because of his name and identity as Superman—she instinctively believed he was a good man. Clark really should thank his comrade from the D-nation—thanks to her, he had a great reputation.
Meanwhile, deep underground, a pair of eyes suddenly opened.
