Although the force consisted of only one hundred Auror wizards, no one dared to underestimate them. In fact, to Gandalf, Elrond, and the others, these Aurors were more formidable than the thousand elven warriors from Rivendell and Lórien combined.
In addition to deploying the Aurors, the Ministry of Magic, under Sylas' direction, provided Portkeys, established Floo Networks, and installed Hearthstones throughout the Far East. This allowed the Aurors and the elven reinforcements to reach the region of Rhûn in a short time.
On the main battlefield, the thousand elven warriors fought alongside the Far Eastern rebels, clashing with tens of thousands of Mordor troops. At the same time, the one hundred Aurors drove straight into the heart of the Mordor army like a razor-sharp spearpoint.
Their movements were precise and coordinated. With wands drawn, they cut down orcs in every direction. The physical attacks of orcs and Barbarians had almost no effect on them. Only volleys of Morgul arrows, carved with dark runes, could threaten the Aurors.
Even then, they responded instantly. Two Aurors always fought as a pair: one advanced, the other defended, raising shields of magic to block incoming arrows. Their layered defenses made them incredibly hard to injure.
They wore dragon-scale enchanted armor, brooches, rings, necklaces, and gold-plated protective charms. Even their uniforms were woven from giant spider silk, granting them exceptional magical resistance.
For Sylas and the Ministry of Magic, losing even a single Auror would be a painful blow. That was why the Aurors were equipped to the highest standard possible.
This mission also had another purpose. Until now, the Aurors had never experienced large-scale warfare. Their most dangerous campaign had been the clearing of the Troll Forest, and those ogres had been too slow and too simple-minded to provide meaningful combat experience.
This battle, against tens of thousands of Mordor soldiers, was an opportunity no military training could replicate.
The Aurors used Apparition to move with incredible agility, appearing and vanishing throughout the Mordor ranks, cutting down enemies as they passed. Others zoomed overhead on broomsticks, casting aerial attacks.
Spellcasters unleashed powerful explosions and concussive blasts with a single sweep of their wands. Transfiguration specialists turned Mordor blades and spears into venomous serpents and ferocious beasts that lunged at the terrified soldiers.
Some Aurors used prank-based magic with lethal efficiency. Orcs were forced into uncontrollable laughter, or into wild, chaotic dancing. Others found their legs fused together so that they could only hop, or their teeth and toenails suddenly grew several inches at once, leaving them helpless.
Potion specialists dispersed clouds of gray mist and then summoned winds to blow it over the battlefield. Any Mordor soldier who inhaled it collapsed into a deep, dreamless sleep.
Herbology-trained Aurors scattered Devil's Web seeds cultivated by Professor Margaret, then used magic to force them to sprout instantly. The vines lashed out, wrapping around nearby orcs and crushing them with terrifying strength.
The battlefield erupted into a storm of spells. Multicolored light streaked across the air, flames roared upward, and explosions shook the earth. Under the coordinated assault of the hundred Aurors, tens of thousands of Mordor troops descended into chaos. Combined with the elven and rebel armies holding firm on the main front, the tide of battle shifted in favor of the allied forces.
Yet the Mordor army was not without threats.
However, the wolves, vampires, and dark sorcerers were creatures possessing powerful evil abilities, requiring the Aurors' vigilance.
The wolves, unlike ordinary wargs, were possessed by evil spirits. They resembled werewolves and possessed strength far greater than that of wargs. Their claws and fangs were venomous, and every attack carried corrupting dark power.
Vampires were even more mysterious than the wolves. These servants of Sauron were monstrous, bat-like creatures with huge bony wings tipped with hooked claws. They fed on blood and were almost impossible to kill except by sunlight.
The dark sorcerers were human warlocks who had been twisted and corrupted by Sauron, learning forbidden magic directly from him. Before becoming a Ringwraith, even the Witch-King of Angmar had been a powerful sorcerer, feared for his devastating mastery of dark magic.
Although orcs, trolls, and Eastern Barbarians served under Sauron, he viewed them merely as expendable tools. The wolves, vampires, and dark sorcerers, however, were his trusted elite, residing primarily within Mordor's stronghold.
The demon wolves were monstrous hybrids of man and wolf, huge and savage, their eyes glowing with an evil red light. They tore through the Mordor ranks at terrifying speed, their four limbs launching them forward so quickly they were barely visible to the naked eye.
With fangs bared, they lunged at the Aurors with bloodthirsty frenzy. Ordinary spells were useless against them, and even powerful offensive charms that could easily kill trolls or orcs only left shallow wounds that healed in seconds.
The vampires swooped across the sky like enormous bats, hunting Aurors riding broomsticks. Their speed outmatched even that of the wolves. They appeared in an instant, striking before a spell could be raised, tearing open throats with hooked claws and razor fangs. They drained blood rapidly and could emit hypnotic cries that bewitched their prey, leaving victims unable to resist.
While the wolves and vampires attacked in coordinated land and air assaults, the dark sorcerers stood behind the Mordor army, forming its core. They chanted sinister incantations, summoning and commanding hordes of malevolent spirits. These spirits possessed corpses, creating an advancing army of the undead.
Facing these dark creatures, the Aurors remained calm. They combined their magic to form powerful shield charms, preventing wolves and vampires from breaking through. At the same time, they summoned guardian spirits. In a flash, Patronus-like beings, cats, dogs, lions, swans, dolphins, and more, burst from their wands in radiant light and charged at the demon wolves, vampires, and evil spirits.
The light of these guardian spirits was especially effective against dark creatures. Demon wolves, vampires, and corrupted spirits recoiled from it instinctively. Spirits possessing corpses or wolves were naturally suppressed by the guardians.
Several guardian spirits swarmed a demon wolf, latching onto it and tearing at the evil spirit hidden inside. One antelope-shaped guardian lowered its horns and slammed into the struggling spirit with crushing force.
