The White Dragon symbolizes absolute power, while the Black Dragon represents infinite possibility.
As a child, when bored, Kevin Seth used to flip through the ancient records of the Seth family. He couldn't remember exactly which book he'd read it in, but this one line stayed with him.
And he also remembered the line that came after. When Miles discarded Summoned Skull to reduce the opponent's Attack, Kevin recalled it.
The union of the Demon and the Black Dragon is a miracle forged by fate and friendship among endless possibilities.
"Do you trust me, Aisha Carlos?" Kevin looked solemnly at the silver-haired girl beside him.
"The potential of combining the Black Dragon and the Demon? Just like you trust me, Kevin, I'll trust you too. That's what destined rivals are for!"
"Heh, then I Set a monster in face-down Defense Position and Set 1 Spell/Trap. Turn end!"
One face-down monster and one Set card—Kevin Seth's entrusted possibility for Miles to break the deadlock.
"My turn, draw!"
As their turn began, the Paradox Brothers looked at the two cards in their hand, then back at Gate Guardian on the field.
"I activate the Equip Spell: Axe of Despair, boosting Gate Guardian's Attack by 1000!"
[Gate Guardian, ATK: 1250 → 2250]
With its drastically reduced Attack boosted by the Equip Spell, the tri-fold God stacked together now wielded a demonic axe—visually absurd.
"Next, I activate the Spell Card—Hidden Armory!"
"With Hidden Armory, I send the top card of my Deck to the GY, add the Equip Spell: Premature Burial from our Graveyard to hand, pay 800 LP, and activate it to revive Sanga of the Thunder from our Graveyard!"
[Paradox Brothers, LP: 3200 → 2400]
[Sanga of the Thunder, ATK: 2600]
Despite being part of Gate Guardian's head, Sanga was now revived separately due to the Spell effect. Visually, it looked like there were two Sangas on the field.
"Heh heh, can you stop this turn's offense? Gate Guardian, attack their face-down monster!"
Swinging its massive axe, Gate Guardian gave up elemental attacks and opted for brute force—visually absurd again.
The Set monster was cleaved, revealing Kevin's face-down Defense monster: a tiny black dragon.
"It's over. You've got no monsters left, and we still have Sanga of the Thunder, who hasn't attacked."
Sanga's 2600 Attack against Aisha and Kevin's 2450 LP—more than enough.
"Feel the power that once even terrified the King of Games!"
"Hmph."
Kevin scoffed coldly, arms crossed, as a Black Dragon's phantom roared behind him.
"Who said we don't have monsters? The monster you just destroyed was—Red-Eyes Baby Dragon!"
[When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: Special Summon 1 Level 7 or lower "Red-Eyes" monster from your Deck, then equip this card to it.]
"With Red-Eyes Baby Dragon's effect, I Special Summon Red-Eyes Black Dragon from my Deck!"
[Red-Eyes Black Dragon, ATK: 2400]
The phantom of the roaring Black Dragon materialized behind Kevin.
"Then, Chick equips to Red-Eyes Black Dragon, boosting its Attack by 300!"
[Red-Eyes Black Dragon, ATK: 2400 → 2700]
"With 2700 Attack, it's stronger than your Sanga! You can't beat this Black Dragon now, Paradox Brothers!"
With the reinforced Black Dragon holding the front, Kevin denied their chance at a finishing blow.
"Kevin, you're the most reliable partner I've ever had!" Miles exclaimed.
(This is Miles's first Tag Duel.)
"Now it's your turn, Aisha Carlos. Show them what a true fusion looks like!"
The Paradox Brothers sneered. "So what if your Attack is higher? As long as Gate Guardian has its effect, you'll never break through the ultimate defense! I end my turn!"
As the turn passed, Miles's field stood with a roaring Red-Eyes Black Dragon and a single Set backrow card—Kevin's full trust.
"Let's go, Deck. Answer our bond. I only need that one card! My turn, draw!"
A flash of gold trailed Miles's draw—the destiny draw from a partner's trust.
Spell Card: Monster Reborn!
"It's here! I activate Monster Reborn to revive a monster from my Graveyard!"
He slammed down the newly drawn B-rank Spell Card he had never used before.
Thunder roared in the underground arena as a colossal demon descended beside the Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
"—Come forth, Summoned Skull!"
[Summoned Skull] Level 6│DARK│Fiend│ATK 2500
Aisha gasped. "So you revived Summoned Skull... Is this what Kevin meant—the miracle born from the Demon and the Dragon? But the Fusion Spell..."
She only had one Polymerization in her Deck, and they'd already used it to summon Arcana Knight Joker.
Now Miles had only two Mokey Mokey cards in hand.
"Don't worry. My most reliable partner has already opened the path for us!"
Miles activated Kevin's Set card from last turn—not a Trap, but a Normal Spell.
It was Set simply so Miles could activate it this turn.
"—Spell Card, Magical Stone Excavation, activate!"
[Discard 2 cards, then target 1 Spell in your Graveyard; add it to your hand.]
"I discard two Mokey Mokey cards to return Polymerization from my Graveyard to my hand."
The reclaimed magic gleamed like a miracle in the underground chamber.
With Polymerization back in hand, Miles once again felt the call of a Card Spirit—a fusion equation formed in his mind.
Summoned Skull + Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
Black Skull Dragon!
The answer revealed in Miles's mind—the possibility born from Demon and Dragon.
He remembered now: in Yugi Muto's battle against the Paradox Brothers, this very monster was the game-changer.
That said…
'In this situation, that card isn't enough to win.'
The Paradox Brothers still had 2400 LP, and Gate Guardian could reduce attacking monsters' ATK to 0.
'Black Skull Dragon alone won't cut it—we need something stronger…'
Eyes wide, Miles saw another possibility hidden in the three cards before him.
The Black Skull Dragon in his mind evolved—light engulfed it.
Finally, its form changed.
"This is it!—Spell Card, Polymerization, activate!"
He cast the reclaimed Fusion Spell—lightning and black fire spiraling in fusion, pulling in Summoned Skull and Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
"Summoned Skull and Red-Eyes Black Dragon fuse… could it be… Black Skull Dragon!?"
The Paradox Brothers, who once faced Yugi in battle, would never forget that monster.
But their buried fear surfaced only for a moment before being suppressed.
"It's useless! That monster still can't beat Gate Guardian!"
"Times have changed, Paradox Brothers!"
Miles raised his slender arm toward the spiral fusion where the demonic dragon roared.
"The fusion of Demon and Dragon—our shared will as destined rivals. This is our Fusion Summon of fate!"
"Fate… Fusion Summon!" Kevin trembled, overwhelmed with emotion. "Well said, Aisha Carlos!"
"The Black Dragon of infinite potential ignites the Demon's chaotic thunder, forming the ultimate dark cross—Fusion Summon!—Archfiend Black Skull Dragon!"
[Archfiend Black Skull Dragon] Level 9│DARK│Dragon / Fusion / Effect│ATK 3200 / DEF 2500
[1 Level 6 "Archfiend" Normal Monster + 1 "Red-Eyes" Normal Monster]
This evolved form of Black Skull Dragon—Archfiend Black Skull Dragon—was the miracle Miles had drawn hope from.
"Roar—!"
The enormous Fiend Dragon spread its wings—fire and lightning swirling behind it—as it landed with a deafening roar.
The tremor shook Fusion Academy's underground more violently than ever—its roar pierced even the skies.
"This is the monster born from our fate-bound Fusion, Aisha Carlos!"
Seeing the awe-inspiring [Archfiend Black Skull Dragon], Level 9, overwhelming even Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Kevin felt for the first time that he'd surpassed Kaima Seth.
"You really are my destiny, Aisha Carlos!"
"Let's fight. Let's end this together, Kevin!"
"Yeah!"
Announcing the Battle Phase, the two guided their fused dragon, wings ablaze, as it surged toward the Gate Guardian.
The Paradox Brothers retaliated, "It's no use! Even if your ATK is higher, we'll use Gate Guardian's effect to reduce it to 0!"
"From the moment Archfiend Black Skull Dragon attacks—you can't activate anything!"
Flames from the Fiend Dragon's wings engulfed the Duel Arena, encircling the Paradox Brothers.
[If this card battles, your opponent's cards and effects cannot be activated until the end of the Damage Step.]
With triple-effect (Monster, Spell, and Trap) lockout in the Battle Phase, once Archfiend Black Skull Dragon attacked, the opponent couldn't activate anything.
Gate Guardian's ATK-reduction effect? Sealed.
Miles & Kevin said in unison, "Go!—Fiend Dragon Burst: Ultimate Black Flame Bullet!!"
With its fists cloaked in dragon flame, Archfiend Black Skull Dragon barreled through Gate Guardian's iron shell—crushing the colossus in a single searing blow.
[Paradox Brothers, LP: 2400 → 1450]
In the explosion of thunder and black fire, the trinity Guardian was annihilated—burned to ash by the dark flame surge.
"You actually… actually broke through our strongest monster, Gate Guardian?! You little—!"
Their once-confident voices now trembled. They were obviously bluffing.
"No matter, the Duel's not over! We still have Sanga of the Thunder, and we're not at 0 LP yet!"
Kevin said, "Oh? So you're saying you're still alive, huh?"
Miles promptly declared, "Too bad. You're already dead!"
"What?!"
Kevin swung his arm, pulling Red-Eyes Black Dragon from the Graveyard.
"Let this card—the Black Dragon of infinite possibility—send you off! Archfiend Black Skull Dragon's final effect!"
[At the end of the Battle Phase: You can target 1 "Red-Eyes" Normal Monster in your Graveyard; inflict damage to your opponent equal to half its ATK in the Graveyard, then shuffle it into the Deck.]
"I target Red-Eyes Black Dragon in my Graveyard—inflict 2400 damage! This is the final strike of our destiny!"
Miles & Kevin shouted, "—Fiend Dragon Burst: Terminal Black Flame Bullet!"
Their unified shout, laced with rage, carried their victory forward—ending the Duel with one final blast.
"AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!"
[Paradox Brothers, LP: 1450 → 0]
"OBLITERATED—!"
