Chapter 195: Bronzong Arrives!
On the summit platform of Mount Veridian, the entire Bronzor clan had assembled. The Great Elder floated above the stone mirror, its psychic power pouring out, as if communicating with the ancient artifact. The process was so intense that it didn't even acknowledge Basalt and Bronzor's arrival.
"What took you so long?" the Bronzong who had escorted Basalt up the mountain asked. It was a high-ranking member of the clan, one of the Great Elder's most trusted confidants. But when it saw Basalt's Bronzor rolling on the ground, it asked, "What are you doing rolling around like that?"
"Uh... I'm practicing the move Rollout," Bronzor lied smoothly.
"Incredible! Even now, you're still focused on learning new moves," the Bronzong said, completely convinced. It was no wonder this Bronzor was the clan's greatest talent.
It then glanced at Basalt's sheepish grin and thought, It must be because of this human trainer. The training methods of the outside world are truly rigorous.
"Alright, go join the others on the platform," the Bronzong instructed. "Enter a state of meditation and calm your spirit. At high noon, the mirror will release the solar energy it has absorbed, and we will use our psychic power to resonate with you and aid in your evolution."
"Okay, I'm going," Bronzor said. It rolled onto the platform, and since the other Bronzor were also resting on the stone surface rather than floating, it didn't stand out too much. It found a spot, settled in, and began to meditate.
DONG~ DONG~ DONG~
With all the participants in place, the rest of the clan began to fly and dance, their bodies bumping against each other to create a beautiful, melodic chorus.
Soon, it was high noon. The sun was at its peak, and the temperature on the summit was high. Basalt, Summer, and Barry watched, transfixed.
"Brooonzong~"
Suddenly, a deep, resonant cry echoed from the Great Elder. A powerful,霸道 psychic energy washed over the summit, then was immediately absorbed by the mysterious stone mirror. The mirror began to glow, reflecting the sunlight onto the platform, bathing the meditating Bronzor in a soft, gentle light filled with a vibrant, life-giving aura.
"Excaaa~" Beside Basalt, Excadrill's eyes went wide. It had come out to watch its friend evolve, but it hadn't expected the light from the mirror to be so rich with life energy. Its purity... it was even higher than the energy Lileep had given it. How is that possible? Lileep has a master-grade Miracle Seed. What is that mirror?
"Excadrill, is there something wrong with that mirror?" Basalt asked.
Excadrill tried to explain, but without Bronzor to translate, it was difficult.
"Life energy?" Basalt's eyes widened. He looked at the mirror and felt a strange sense of familiarity. "Where have I seen that before?" He wracked his brain. "Could it be the Reveal Glass? No, that's not what it looks like."
Just then, one of the Bronzor on the platform began to glow with the white light of evolution.
"It's starting!" Summer whispered, her eyes wide with excitement. One by one, the other Bronzor began to glow, including her own, Barry's, and Basalt's.
Within the light, Basalt's Bronzor began to grow, its body expanding like a balloon. A crossbeam with a hole in the center formed at its top, and from either side, two arm-like extensions grew. A circular opening appeared at its bottom, and its color deepened from a bluish-indigo to a complete, solid bronze.
"Brooonzong~"
The light faded, and all the Bronzor on the platform had evolved into Bronzong. But compared to the others, Basalt's was in a league of its own. A normal Bronzong was about 1.3 to 1.5 meters tall. His was a staggering 2.5 meters. The others looked like dwarves beside it. And its bronze body gleamed with a deep, rich luster, a testament to the immense amount of Aegis Ore it had absorbed.
"Basalt, your... Bronzong... it's a little... big, don't you think?" Barry said, looking from his own new Pokémon to Basalt's, his eye twitching.
"Heh, heh. My little guy has always been a big eater," Basalt said with a proud laugh. He felt a new sense of security. In a wild battle, he could just hide inside its bell-like body and be completely safe.
But then, his smile froze.
BOOM!
The newly evolved Bronzong slowly descended to the ground with a heavy thud. "Why do I feel... even heavier now?" it asked, its voice filled with confusion.
Basalt's face fell. "Don't tell me you can't fly."
"With Reverse Gravity, I can fly," it replied with a sheepish laugh. "But it'll be a big drain on my psychic power. And without it, with just my Levitate ability... I'll be a little... slow."
Before, it had weighed about 800 kilograms. Now, after evolving, it was well over a ton.
"So you're saying you can be fast, but you can't... last?" Basalt's eye twitched, and he fought the urge to punch it. On the battlefield, a lack of stamina was a death sentence.
But the deed was done. He would just have to add "mastering Levitate and Reverse Gravity" to its already-packed training schedule.
But first, he had to scan it with his Pokédex and see what new moves it had learned.
