Chapter 64 - Chapter 63

They went to Esau's home at Nyali that evening.

Alfredo had bought a new mansion at Nyali, and Esau wanted his fiancée to see it. They rode on the motorbike, and ten minutes later, they reached the gates of Esau's home.

They went past the guards in green uniforms who waved them on. Gloria began to realize her lover lived in a different world.

Outside the mansion, they stopped. Again, they passed two other guards who saluted Esau and nodded their heads. Then Gloria saw the two German shepherds come towards them as their tails wagged. Gloria's heart sunk and held onto Esau.

"Don't be afraid, darling! They have smelt my scent and won't cause any harm," Esau assured her when he remembered Gloria's fear and dislike of dogs.

They moved on to the main entrance to the house, and Alfredo was there to receive them heartily.

"Welcome young woman," Alfredo said as he chuckled. "So it's you I've been hearing about?

"Yes, dad," Gloria replied politely when she sensed the man talking to her was Esau's father.

She noticed he was averagely-built but slightly shorter than Esau and was probably 5 feet and 8 inches.

"I've come to visit you for the first time," she said.

"Well, feel at home then," Alfredo spoke cheerfully as he offered her a seat.

She sat down, feeling quite shy as her eyes went over everything in the lounge. She could see the large Sony television set, a music system, air conditioners, and a cocktail cabinet full of drinks.

Even as her eyes settled down on the carpeted floor, Gloria was deeply impressed by what she saw. The gadgets in the lounge left a lasting impression on her mind. It was clear Esau was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

"Young lady, what's your name?" Alfredo queried as he closely eyed the brown stilettos she wore.

"Gloria Auma." She spoke shyly as she stared at his grey hair.

"I see you belong to our tribe, don't you?" The older man chuckled happily.

"Yes, I do." She was now trying to avoid Alfredo's brown and probing eyes.

"That's good!" He observed. "You two make a wonderful pair."

Esau now realized his father was beginning to take more interest in their relationship, unlike previously. He watched in silence as his father chatted happily with Gloria and saw him many times nodding approvingly.

At that moment, he knew his father had taken a personal interest and liking to Gloria.

After they took their supper, Alfredo excused himself: "Youngsters, let me retire to my room. I hope you enjoyed yourself, Gloria. Don't fail to come again because we'd like to see more of you."

"I'll always be coming, dad," she spoke softly.

"Remember, you're now a daughter to us. This is now your own home, and you should always come to see those who live here," added Lucinda very softly and matter-of-factly.

Esau's parents retired to their bedroom. Gloria and Esau knew they had deliberately done so to give them the chance to talk and discuss their love.

"I hope you enjoyed yourself," Esau said when they were left alone.

"Very much," she replied excitedly. Then she whispered, "I liked your dad. He's quite honest and charming."

Later, they rode on his motorbike as he took her back to her apartment at Tudor. They went riding down the road for about ten minutes, and then the motorbike came to a standstill outside her house.

"Come in, darling. I want to be with you for the rest of the night," she spoke softly in the darkness.

He pushed his motorbike into the compound and locked the gate. Then he went upstairs as he followed her into the apartment. He found her waiting for him in the lounge.

Her eyes were filled with desire as she stared at him with her loving eyes. He always knew what she wanted whenever he saw that look in her eyes. As he lowered his mouth to kiss her, his hand started caressing her smooth back.

Then Gloria pulled herself away from him, smiling.

"Come, darling!" she said and walked into her bedroom.

He chuckled and followed her. It was a job he enjoyed doing at such an hour during the weekend. She always left him quite satisfied as she was very good and experienced on the pillow.

This was the power she held over him. Her nude and curved figure always turned him on. As he shed off his clothes and went for her, he was thrilled that he had one of the most sensational women who shared happy moments with him.

Later, when it was all over and they lay in the dimly lit bedroom, Esau began talking: "I've something to tell you tonight."

"What is it?" She whispered softly.

He reached for his trousers that were on the bedside table and removed a small box. Then he opened it and fished out a small glittering object. He reached for her left hand and fixed the glittering ring on her middle finger.

"What's that you have put on my finger?" She said as she felt the ring slide gently into her finger.

Then she realized almost immediately what it was. She listened as he resumed talking. "It's a gold ring."

She raised her hand and saw it. It glittered and looked quite attractive.

"Is this for me?" She was excited as she talked.

There was a brief pause. Then Esau whispered into her ears, "Sure. It's our engagement ring. Will you marry me?"

She could not believe what her lover was saying. Then she understood why he had taken her to meet his parents that evening. A wave of joy suddenly swept across her body.

"Of course darling," she laughed excitedly. "Ever since we were at the university, I have always wanted to hear you say just that. I've always wanted you to be my husband."

"And I've always loved you." His voice sounded happy and satisfied.

Gloria suddenly jumped out of bed and went to the lobby. She returned, holding the keys to her house. Then she said as she lay on the bed, "Darling, I too have made a decision."

"What is it?" Anxiety appeared in his voice.

"Take this spare key. My house is now yours. You can come here whenever you like and even relax as you wait for me if I happen to have gone to my parents."

"That's nice. It shows my fiancée now trusts me and gives me access to the house at all times."

Then they suddenly burst out laughing and shattered the silence of the night.
