Chapter 45 - Field Boss -3

William jumped slightly and aimed with all his strength to pierce the brain of the creature kneeling on the ground, but something unexpected happened while he was in midair.

"RAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHHHHHH!" The creature roared so loudly it could deafen anyone within earshot, and a shockwave accompanied by a green aura erupted from it, sending even the heavy William and Marcus flying dozens of meters backward.

The creature was suddenly enveloped in green aura and smoke, leaving only its silhouette visible.

William took a few steps back and waited with the others for the creature to transform.

"I guess we weren't fast enough."

William shook his head in disappointment. If his last attack had been successful, they could have probably finished the job here, but since it wasn't, they now had to face the angry creature.

Meanwhile, most people continued to kill the zombies around them to keep busy. Heavy machine guns continued to fire from behind.

After a while, the green smoke and aura dissipated. All that remained was a creature whose body was intertwined with green lines, completely healed and seemingly enlarged in size.

An additional information layer had been added to the creature's name. [Enraged]

Marcus was already at the front, so he was the first to attack to draw the creature's attention.

William could roughly sense the new power the creature had gained.

Previously, the creature's attacks only slightly shook Marcus. Now, each blow sent Marcus flying several meters backward.

This made Marcus's job more difficult.

Joseph raised his hand and called out to everyone who could attack from a distance. "While Marcus and Mick are distracting it, use everything you've got!"

It was such an intense moment that you could have built several houses with the empty shells.

William just watched and rested a little. He trusted Marcus's strength, and Mick was not much different when it came to defense.

Marcus had his advantages. So did Mick.

While Marcus chose to dominate the area and defend individually, Mick chose to defend those around him.

Mick was very good at this. Although not as good as Marcus, he was fast enough to appear next to a teammate who was within a few meters of him and raise his shield.

However, he didn't have much offensive power. He only swung his machete occasionally, considering himself lucky if he could land a few cuts.

Marcus, on the other hand, shook the ground with every blow, stunning those who judged him to be nothing more than a fool who could only defend himself.

After a few attacks, William saw his chance. Once again, he gathered all his strength in his legs and attacked the creature, which was standing back due to Marcus' blow, with his fifth stance.

He attacked the same spot with the same force and speed.

He wanted to make a deep rift from the shoulder down again, but this time it didn't work as he expected.

It was as if the creature's skin had been stretched and the layer of muscle underneath had turned to metal.

William's most powerful attack had only opened a foot-deep rift in the creature.

"Its defense is almost three times stronger, I have to be careful if its attack is the same."

Just as William thought this, he saw its left fist coming towards him. The creature seemed to have focused all its power in its left fist, and its target was William, right next to his stomach.

William saw the attack and drew his swords, kicking the creature in the stomach and jumping back dozens of meters.

At that moment, Marcus's shield arrived. Marcus deflected the creature's fist, allowing William to see an opening again. Not only William, but everyone skilled in close combat attacked.

At the same time, dozens of cuts appeared on the creature's body.

The creature, howling in pain, did not retreat but grew even more enraged and began to launch stronger attacks.

But it was all in vain.

Marcus and Mick were always there, ready to counter every attack.

Others like William, Joseph, Jason, and Min-Jun were also ready to strike the creature's body during the brief openings that formed after each defense.

Just as they were about to attack, the creature roared in anger.

A green aura began to form around it.

Joseph recognized this movement. This attack was the key factor that had forced them to retreat during their previous attempt.

Joseph immediately shouted, "Jump and retreat!" Hearing this, everyone except William jumped and retreated. William waited to see what would happen.

The creature gathered strength in its legs for a few seconds and jumped with all its might.

William realized that this attack was powerful enough to shake the ground, and jumped slightly as the creature fell to the ground.

He had narrowly escaped this attack.

The moment the creature hit the ground, it saw only William in front of it and swung the piece of tree in its hand with all its might.

Although William couldn't see the others in the dust cloud, he could see the creature just as it could see him.

So he saw the attack coming and immediately slid a few meters to the side.

"Still too slow," he muttered.

Then he raised his sword and swung it downwards. It opened a long rift in the creature's skin.

He didn't want to see what else this creature was capable of.

It had only made one attack that had challenged him, and that was by using its body weight.

That attack had taken a long time to execute, giving him plenty of time to escape.

So William decided to kill the creature.

He was eagerly awaiting the rewards of a field boss.

William began to cut the creature with his swords without stopping. It was as if he was cutting meat in a kebab restaurant.

His attacks were constantly wounding the creature little by little, taking its life.

Of course, he wasn't the only one attacking. Everyone except Marcus and Mick was in attack mode.

They attacked at the slightest opportunity, retreated without taking a hit, and allowed Marcus and Mick to defend themselves.

After a while, the creature's body became unrecognizable.

William had cut off the creature's nose several times, and Marcus had broken its large nose with his mace, causing it to turn sideways.

A few minutes later, the creature fell backward with a loud roar and couldn't get back up.

A large counter appeared above its head. [167:23:59:58]

"Seven days," William thought, then turned his attention to the system screen.

William thought he had delivered the final blow, but he would wait for the system to identify the creature as dead and distribute the rewards.

"Congratulations, you have killed the field boss Necromarax General Ur'Mog the Bloatfather!"

"EXP +21325"

"You have earned Bloatfather Aura Fragment x1!"

"You have earned Epic Healing Potion x1!"

"You have earned Rare Healing Potions x3!"

"You have obtained the Withered Mountain Sword x1!"

"You have obtained the Cowards' Gloves x1!"

"CP +67,328"

"Ley Regeneration +20% for 1 hour!"

William raised an eyebrow.

"Good rewards," he thought.

He then picked up the rewards that had fallen in front of him and examined them one by one.

[Bloatfather Aura Fragment 1/100]

[Bloatfather's Aura Fragment, when you have 100, you can complete it from the system store. It can be infused into any armor. When infused, it can mimic Bloatfather's Aura and gain its buffs.]

"Strange, I guess we'll have to wait for the full version of the system for this."

He passed on the healing potions. He already knew how they worked. Epic level healing potion saved him a lot of money, even if he was very rich.

Also, even though he didn't need it at his current level, he could still use it in emergencies, so he decided to put it in his jacket's inner pocket for later.

He would give the rare healing potions to Joseph.

He then looked at the two items that had dropped.

The sword was a rare one that met his expectations.

At first glance, it resembled a medieval longsword, but it was the same length as a katana, double-edged, and straight.

There was a metallic symbol of a faded rose on the hilt, and it looked very good.

"I think I can use this." He looked at the katana in his hand.

Even if the katanas obtained from the system were of a high level, they could not compare to the sharpness of the rare ones.

In addition, this sword had an effect.

Withered Rose Bite: Decorated with the oil of withered rose flowers from Withered Rose Mountain, this sword is poisonous to the nervous system. Prolonged exposure can cause permanent paralysis.]

William liked this sword. He decided to replace one of his katanas with it.

After all, his mastery of swords was not dependent on the katana. The term "double sword" only referred to two swords held in both hands.

William looked at the item described as gloves and showed no interest.

They were classic brown leather gloves. Their rating was "common."

So he hung it on his waist without caring. He would donate it to the City of Hope.

He looked at the exp and cp he had earned. "I guess it's distributed according to contribution," he thought.

When he took his attention off the items, he saw that the battle was not over yet.

The huge boss corpse was standing right in the middle, and people were still fighting the zombies coming at them. Fortunately, there weren't many zombies left.

After organizing his belongings, William joined the battle, and within fifteen minutes, they had killed all the zombies around them.

The area around the rift had been completely cleared.

Joseph then called out to everyone, and the retreat began.

In a short time, all the weapons were collected, and the people got into the trucks and headed for the City of Hope.

William stayed behind with ten people. Their goal was to clean up the area and set up a small camp.

William used the system screen to purchase the campsite and set it up. Then he bought a map of the things he was seeing for the first time and wanted to put it in the camp.

At that moment, Marcus arrived and told him how to do it.

The plans he had placed only included ten camp tents and a fire pit for the camp, but someone had to build them.

Bradley and a few people experienced in hunting did this right away.

Of course, William bought the tents and pots.

The wood was collected from the bases of the sparse trees around them.

Two hours later, nearly a hundred people arrived to help.

The area was cleared, but dragging the giant boss's corpse was not easy.

It took dozens of people to help.

William even took a photo with the penis hanging from its belly.

In short, this creature was real.

It began to rot quickly and did not disappear like it did in the dungeon.

By the time the area was cleared and the camp was set up, it was almost noon.

The strong ones, like William and Marcus, returned to the city.

William took advantage of the opportunity and left his spare items behind.

Since it was still early, Joseph reorganized the teams and they set off for the Field Boss in the west.

This time, the Boss had a very different body type.

It was thinner and longer. It still had a belly, but not enough to cover its knees. It looked like a sick, emaciated man with a distended belly.

The place where its eyes should have been was empty. It had huge tree trunks for hands. It was clear that its attack power would be greater and faster.

Fortunately, its defense was more fragile, and although Mick couldn't hold out, Marcus had no problem defending against the creature's attacks.

The creature had a very unusual name.

[Necromarax General Xal'Zuuron the Hollow Grief Lv13 (Field Boss)]

The creature died more easily and quickly than even William had expected. It took longer to kill the hundreds of high-level zombies around them.

The same seven-day timer appeared where the creature had died, and then the rewards were distributed.

William thought he had contributed the most. He had inflicted wounds on the creature that were impossible to heal without taking any hits.

"Congratulations, you have killed the field boss Necromarax General Xal'Zuuron the Hollow Grief!"

"EXP +19789"

"Hollow Grief Aura Fragment x1 obtained!"

"Healing Potion (Rare) x2 obtained!"

"Amon Order Great Sword x1 obtained!"

"Hollow Grief Boots x1 obtained!"

"CP +61293"

"Ley Control +20% for 1 hour!"
