"I'll start!" Laya exclaims.
She clears her throat before speaking.
"My name is Laya monman. I'm 14,I was born on the 14th of February, and I have 2 brothers."
Is that how we're doing it? Then it should be fine since I don't have to reveal anything. But I should go last just in case.
Jyuna notices hestia's hesitation to go and starts speaking.
"My name is Jyuna elwell,I'm 15. I was born on the 20th of April. I have 1 older sister."
We all looked at Hestia, giving her a hint to go next.
"I'm Hestia belbon. I'm 14 and was born on March 10. I have no siblings."
They're all pretty girls with a good amount of confidence. If it was any lower, I would blame a man. I can't believe I'm talking to people for this long,it's exhausting.
"I'm... Katherine anika. I'm 14. I was born on January 18. I have 3 older sisters."
Laya starts thinking about what to do next. While everyone is silent, Jyuna seems to be trying to analyse me.
Did I say something weirdly? I shouldn't have hesitated before saying my name. Now I sound suspicious. I should work on my personality, or I might sound weird again.
"What if we just ask each other random questions?" Laya sais expecting someone to speak first. When no does, she starts speaking again.
"Then I'll start... again."
She seems annoyed. I should've just gone first. This mask hurts to put on sometimes. But I feel weird without it.
"Jyuna,what's your favourite music genre?"
"I- well-... k-pop?"
Laya's eyes light up quickly as she sits up straight.
"Mine too!"
Jyuna's eyes open up.
"That's so cool! I've never met another fan until now!"
They get along well. But I've seen multiple K-pop fans. Do they not talk to people? I'm protecting them in hopes they don't disappoint me, but I don't think this is gonna work. If I let my mask fall, it'll end. But I don't want to be alone again.
Laya and Jyuna seem to be blabbering about more of their interests together. It only took a few seconds for Hestia to jump into the conversation and talk about also wanting to get into K-pop.
Actually, I only paid attention to a few sentences. Favourite colour, food, song, what they want to be in the future, hobbies, personality. They talked about everything.
I don't want to be here. They're interesting, I guess. But listening to something without giving your opinion feels like an eternity of bird watching. What's the point of having people around you if you aren't even the centre of everyone's life.
"Katherine,what about you?"
Please don't talk to me.
"What do you mean?"
Jyuna focuses her eyes on me.
"What are you into?"
Her eyes are calming, really calming. Maybe it's her voice, either way. I feel warm.
"I guess... I'm into novels."
That might not have been a good idea to say. What a shitty interest. This is not going to end how I fantasised it will.
"Really? What kind? I used to read action and mystery genres."
Never mind, Jyuna seems really open-minded. But,the others might not be like that.
I glanced at Laya and Hestia, and they seemed to be interested in the conversation. Everything feels a bit warm now.
"I'm into action too,but more of the fantasy type."
Laya lights up even brighter than before.
"I've only read a couple of fantasy genres, but if you don't mind, you should recommend me some."
Hestia seems extatict at the idea of novels and slides smoothly into the conversation.
"We should spend more time together from now on."
"Yeah!" Laya and Jyuna speak in unison.
If this lasts, then maybe I'll reconsider my actions. We have as much time as we can get. But I'll get us through these,I'll try at least.
That first minute seemed so long, but these 4 extra seem more warm. It's so calm, almost like there's not another worldly being in anguish right now. As if there was no mask on my face, but their is, and that's okay, for now.
