"Why would I?" she replied calmly. "It was convenient."
"So your whole hostage argument doesn't even make sense then," I said with a frown, but she turned away in response. And leaped down from the table, casually walking toward the far edge of the room, her tails swaying lazily behind her as though this conversation no longer interested her.
I sighed. Typical. Whenever the conversation stopped going her way, she immediately acted like it no longer mattered.
I continued watching her quietly, still trying to understand why she had allowed any of that to happen in the first place.
Because honestly? It felt suspicious.
