Chapter 4 - Eyed Her Up And Down.

"How are you doing, pretty lady?"

Ashley had to put down the fourth shot which had almost touched her lips.

Gazing at the man with her reddened and curious eyes, she tried to recall if she had ever seen him somewhere.

But she had not.

Moreover, he did not give her a good vibe. He looked at her with the sort of amusement that sent chills down her spine in a warning.

"And who are you?" She instantly realised her voice did not come as stoic as she wanted it to come. The smirk arched on Robert's lips.

"Trying to be tough, uh? I liked that." Robert extended his hand for her to shake, "Anyways, I'm Robert. I am the owner of this bar, hope you're having a good time."

Ashley looked at the man before staring at his hand. Even after a minute when she did not bring her hand up, Robert got the hint that she had no intention of shaking hands with him.

Hiding his displeasure behind a chuckle, Robert pulled his hand away and leaned back. He crossed his arms and eyed the lady up and down.

The lady in front had wavy brown hair which went all the way to her waist. He did not know much of the shade but whatever it was, it complimented her somewhat brown shade of her fair skin tone extremely well.

Her height was at least 5'7" but what stood her out in honesty were her facial features.

They made her extremely attractive. He can't say she had a model-like face but had a pretty jawline along with the slightest hollow cheeks.

The nose was like a small button on her face while her brown eyes...Robert felt as if he could stare into them his entire life.

She was fuc**ng beautiful!

Honestly, he was partly here to see what exactly was there in this lady that Michael wanted to marry her.

Previously he felt that no matter how beautiful any girl would be, Michael was not somebody to be swayed by just the beauty.

After all, Michael rejected his sister also.

However, now Robert was not sure if Michael was not swayed by this beauty. At this point, even he could agree to marry her.

"If you had enough of staring at me, you may go." Only Ashley knew how she was forcing herself to stay straight. The alcohol had begun working in her system and she was already getting dizzy.

Ashley had only asked for the mild drinks and yet they were this strong. It could not go like this.

She did not want to lose her composure in front of a random stranger whose intentions did not seem genuine at all. Moreover, Ashley was not sure how much time it would take for Skylar to reach here.

"Leave it. I'd go." Ashley stood up and took her bag. It was better to exit the bar before she got completely drunk.

However, before she could have turned, Ashley felt an arm circling her. "I see, you've already met my fiancée."

The stiff posture of Ashley had goosebumps rising at the back of her neck from the voice so close to her.

Swiftly, she turned to the voice only to feel the hand on her waist tightening and drawing her closer.

"Michael," Ashley whispered under her breath and unknowingly relaxed in his arms. It was shocking to her that her drunk self felt much safer around him even when she knew nothing about him as well.

Even now she could not tell how evil his intentions could be behind marrying her.

"And I see that James was quite swift in contacting you." Robert put his hands in his pockets and stood straight. Somehow, the hand of Michael placed on Ashley's waist irked him.

Michael smirked, "Blood is always thicker than some useless friendships."

Although Ashley tried her best to not put her weight on him, she was finding it difficult to hold herself together.

A sharp pain went through her stomach and something twisted there. Her hand reflexively went to her stomach and her fingers clutched it.

The small action did not miss the eye of Michael and he brought her even closer. "I guess my fiancée is pretty tired, we gotta go."

Michael did not even wait for Robert to say something and turned around with Ashley. Just as they entered the elevator, Ashley felt another sharp pain hitting her stomach.

Michael had loosened his hold on her as soon as the elevator closed behind him.

Fortunately, it was just the two of them in the elevator. Ashley had instantly held onto the railing at the back while Michael stood with his back facing her.

Ever since he had begun considering Ashley as his bride, he had his man following her twenty-four-seven.

He knew about the car incident a while back and he also knew that his man would have intruded if things had gotten out of hand in the bar.

But since it was Robert instead of anybody, Michael had no choice except to come down here. Luckily, he was nearby in the same area.

"My men will drop you." The elevator pinged and halted at the parking lot. Michael took a few steps out of it. On feeling no footsteps following him, he turned to look.

Ashley was crouching, and her hand was tightly clutched on her stomach.

Before he could've even stepped towards her, Ashley went unconscious and fell on the elevator floor.
