Dinner was eventful. Just as I expected. It was almost like these people could not eat a meal without any drama. Maybe they survived on unnecessary animosity. I wondered how Jace coped with all of that but I was hopeful that in matter of a few years it would not be my problem anymore.
Leaving the table, we walked side by side in silence. And when we made it upstairs, I almost made the mistake of following him into his room. I blamed it on the smell of his cologne that was invading my senses.
"You wanna come in?" He asked.
"Huh?" I said, carried away by my thoughts.
He gave me a look and I immediately shook my head.
"No, I'll just call it a night."
"Alright then. Good night." He said and walked in, shutting the door behind him.
I was stunned. Not only did he not command me to go in with him, he actually said good night to me for the first time ever.
I couldn't help but wonder if he had hit his head somewhere or something.
