Chapter 73 - Hopeless

Meanwhile, in the Supreme Kai Realm...

"The 500 times gravity training is finally complete," Karnel murmured as he emerged from the gravity chamber, his voice heavy with exhaustion and satisfaction. "This training room has served its purpose, I've pushed beyond its limits."

The figure that stepped into the light was no longer the youth who had entered seclusion. Karnel had grown into a towering Saiyan warrior, his muscular frame radiating power that seemed to make the very air around him vibrate. After enduring the crushing weight of 500 times Earth's gravity for so long, he could feel that his strength had transcended mortal limits. Even the Grand Supreme Kai would be hard-pressed to match him now.

But physical strength wasn't his only gain. Throughout his training, he had maintained his Super Saiyan transformation, and something remarkable had occurred. That faint spark of divinity within him, once barely a whisper, had grown to the size of a needle, and more importantly, it was beginning to merge with his battle-hardened consciousness. What the complete fusion would bring, he couldn't even begin to imagine.

Walking to the edge of the small ornamental pond, Karnel gazed at his reflection in the still water. The child who had once left Earth was gone, replaced by a mature warrior whose very presence commanded respect.

"I was barely more than a boy when I arrived here," he mused, running a hand through his wild hair. "I wonder how much time has passed on Earth. I hope it hasn't been too long."

His contemplation was shattered by a sudden, overwhelming sensation. Multiple ki signatures, familiar ones, were engaged in desperate battle against something that radiated pure malevolence.

"This is..." Karnel's expression darkened as he reached out with his enhanced senses. "The Supreme Kais are fighting something incredibly evil. But wait, there are only three of them now? Did one of them...?"

His blood ran cold as he felt another familiar energy signature rapidly weakening.

"No," he whispered, his fists clenching. "Not another one."

Minutes Earlier, on the Battlefield...

The barren planet had become a wasteland of craters and debris. Three battered figures in torn Supreme Kai robes faced off against the pink demon who seemed utterly unaffected by their prolonged battle.

"Todd, Kibito, are you holding up?" Leila gasped, her usual composure cracked by exhaustion and desperation.

Both male Kais looked as bad as she felt. Their once-pristine robes were shredded and caked with mud and blood, testament to the brutal punishment they'd endured at Kid Buu's hands.

Kibito wiped sweat and blood from his brow, his voice trembling with disbelief. "This creature is an absolute monster. We've thrown everything we have at him, and he looks exactly the same as when we started."

Todd flexed his trembling hands, every muscle in his body screaming in protest. His breathing was ragged, but his eyes burned with determination. "I can't keep this up much longer. I'll create an opening, when I do, you two hit him with everything you've got!"

"Todd, no!" Leila's voice cracked with panic. "Don't even think about it!"

But Todd was already moving. "GO!" he roared, launching himself at Kid Buu with the last of his strength.

Kid Buu's red eyes gleamed with sadistic pleasure as he watched the Supreme Kai's desperate charge. His regenerative abilities made him virtually immortal, as long as a single cell remained, he could recover from any injury. These pathetic gods had no chance of victory.

The pink demon vanished in a blur of speed, reappearing behind Todd to deliver a devastating series of blows. But Todd had anticipated this. Ignoring the bone-crushing impacts, he spun around and managed to grapple Kid Buu from behind.

The battle became a frenzied melee. Leila and Kibito coordinated their attacks, landing solid hits while Todd held their enemy in place. But Kid Buu showed no fear, no pain, only violent joy as he systematically battered his captors.

"I can't retreat anymore!" Leila declared, her voice filled with desperate resolve. She caught Kid Buu's fists in her hands, using all her remaining strength to hold him in place.

Kid Buu's lips peeled back in a feral grin, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth. He began driving his knees into Leila's midsection, the impacts sending shockwaves through the ground beneath her feet. She held on grimly, her boots carving deep furrows in the planetary surface as she was slowly pushed backward.

"Perfect!" Todd's eyes blazed with fierce determination. This was their only chance—if they failed now, the universe itself would fall to this monster. He appeared behind Kid Buu in an instant, wrapping his arms around the creature's waist in an unbreakable hold.

"Kibito, now! Use your strongest attack!" Todd shouted as Leila broke free and leaped to safety.

Kid Buu immediately began driving his elbows into Todd's ribs with bone-crushing force. Each impact sent spurts of blood from the Supreme Kai's mouth, but his grip never wavered.

Kibito and Leila stood frozen, their faces masks of anguish. To use their most powerful attacks would mean certain death for Todd, after living and working together for eons, how could they willingly destroy their friend?

"What are you waiting for?" Todd screamed, his voice hoarse with pain and blood. "Have you forgotten our duty as Supreme Kais? This evil threatens the entire universe! If we don't stop him here and now, everything will be destroyed! Do it!"

Tears streaming down her face, Leila raised her hands as brilliant purple energy began to coalesce in her palms. "I'm sorry, Todd," she whispered.

"Todd... you're really going to die," Kibito murmured, his own massive energy sphere forming above his head.

"Kibito, Todd is right," Leila said, her voice growing stronger despite her tears. "This is our responsibility as guardians of universal order. Even if it costs us our lives!"

Kid Buu sensed the imminent danger radiating from the two energy attacks. His elbow strikes became even more vicious, each blow threatening to shatter Todd's spine. The Supreme Kai's vision began to blur, his grip growing weaker with each passing second.

"Hurry!" Todd gasped with his last reserves of strength. "I can't hold on much longer!"

Leila and Kibito exchanged one final, grief-stricken look before unleashing their combined might.

Two massive waves of energy, one purple, one white, roared toward their target with the force of colliding stars. The attacks were so powerful they seemed to distort space itself, their combined might sufficient to obliterate multiple planets.

Kid Buu's eyes widened slightly as he realized the true scope of their power. For the first time in the battle, he looked genuinely concerned, raising his arms defensively as the twin energy waves engulfed both him and Todd.

The explosion that followed was cataclysmic. The entire planetoid shuddered under the assault, its surface cracking and heaving as chunks of rock were blasted into space. When the blinding light finally faded, a massive crater stretched across the landscape, its depths disappearing into darkness.

Leila and Kibito stood at the crater's edge, their faces etched with grief and exhaustion. The silence was deafening.

"Todd..." Leila whispered, her voice breaking.

But their moment of mourning was short-lived. From the depths of the crater came a sound that chilled them to their cores, cruel, mocking laughter.

A pink figure slowly rose from the devastation, completely unharmed despite the combined power of their ultimate attacks. Kid Buu dusted himself off with casual indifference, his red eyes gleaming with sadistic amusement.

Todd's sacrifice had been for nothing.

"Impossible," Kibito breathed, his legs nearly giving out from shock.

Kid Buu's laughter grew louder as he fixed his gaze on the two remaining Supreme Kais. The real terror was just beginning.
