The sky over xx University was gray
Haruki stood at edge of the school courtyard, clutching a paperback novel under his coat . He wasn't a fan of unpredictable weather-or unpredictable people , especially people like Daiki Tanabe who had just shouted across the soccer field .
"Oi! Haruki !wait up ! "
Haruki didn't wait . He walked faster.
He still hadn't quite figured Daiki out. The boy had practically attached himself to Haruki ever since the " soccor ball incident." Friendly? Yes . Charming? Definitely. A little too loud ? Without a doubt.
But today , Haruki just wanted quiet.
"You're gonna get soaked " Daiki called again, this time catching up, panting slightly.
Haruki turned , eyebrow raised.
"I Don't melt in rain. "
Daiki grinned , brushing away his messy hair .
"Maybe, but you're glasses do "
Haruki blinked , realizing that his lenses were fogged and speckled . He sighed in defeat .
Without warning , Daiki pulled out his club jacket and placed it over Haruki's head,
"There, problem solved. "
Haruki froze . His heart thumped - not because of the rain but , because of how close Haruki had stepped . The scent of sweet and soap still lingered on the jacket . It was warm . Personal.
"You'll catch a cold. " Haruki said but
"You sound like my grandma " Daiki said with grin, "but .... thanks "
Later, in campus archway , Haruki finally gave into his curiosity.
"Why are you doing this ? You don't even know me "
Daiki leaned against the wall , arms crossed , eyes soft for once.
"I Don't know Maybe 'cause , you looked lonely "
Haruki froze. His lips parted to say something , but this words betrayed him .
"Wanna some to my dorm for a bit ?" Daiki asked suddenly , scratching the back of neck "It's dry . And I got instant noodle!."
Haruki blinked .
"You're bribing me with noodle ?"
"And friendship !" Daiki added, grinning wide .
Haruki couldn't help it - he smiled back , just a little .
