Chapter 81: Gu Dad and Gu Mom's Decision
???
"Go on, tell us. What were you planning to do? Do you have a plan?"
Looking at Gu Ruoli, who wore the dazed expression of a clueless deer, Gu Dad and Gu Mom asked with a slightly helpless tone.
With how well they knew Gu Ruoli, they were certain—if she didn't have some sort of solution, there was no way she'd be sitting there so carefree and clueless. She would've already started panicking.
At their question, Gu Ruoli's expression instantly turned serious, surprisingly giving off an air of wisdom and solemnity.
Then she dropped a bombshell, "I don't have anything planned. No plan at all. Worst case, I'll just grab both of you and run, right? I've got the chat group after all."
Slap~
Slap~
Slap~
Three loud forehead-smacking sounds rang out in unison.
Just from the sound alone, it was clear these were solid heads.
Gu Dad, Gu Mom, and Gu Yun all wore unsurprised expressions. As expected—once this girl had a backup plan, she'd immediately revert to being a total slacker.
Still, it wasn't a bad plan. When all else failed, retreating was a viable path.
But Gu Dad and Gu Mom also knew they couldn't rely on Gu Ruoli for this one.
So, the two began discussing matters seriously among themselves. After all, they were people capable of running a large company. Once they had concrete information, they could always find a workable plan.
After a round of intense discussion, the now-resolute Gu Dad and Gu Mom turned their gazes back to Gu Ruoli.
"Ruoli, your mother and I have talked it over. Unless absolutely necessary, we're not going to abandon our world."
"Since you've been given this opportunity, give it a shot. See if you can help our world through this crisis."
Gu Dad adjusted his glasses and looked at Gu Ruoli earnestly.
Beside him, Gu Mom nodded. She didn't want to abandon the world that had raised her either. As the saying goes, "Gold and silver nests are no better than your own doghouse."
Now that their daughter had experienced something extraordinary, maybe—just maybe—she could save this world.
"Dad, Mom… are you serious right now? You really think I'm capable of something like saving the world? And in a world this dangerous?"
Gu Ruoli stared at her parents in disbelief.
She was very self-aware when it came to her own abilities.
Save the world? Was that some kind of joke? If it were some random fantasy world, maybe. But this world? The danger level was on par with the Perfect World trilogy.
Weren't they expecting a bit too much from her?
"Success lies in effort. Just give it your best shot. If it doesn't work out, then at least we'll have no regrets."
Fortunately, Gu Dad and Gu Mom understood that this really was asking too much.
They weren't placing high hopes on it—just encouraging her to try. And if it truly failed, they'd still have the backup plan and no lingering regrets.
"Alright then, I'll give it a try… But how, exactly, do I go about trying?"
Seeing the serious looks on her parents' faces, Gu Ruoli realized their decision was made.
She knew there was no changing their minds, so she grit her teeth and accepted the task.
Then she turned to them with a question—clearly, if they were this firm, they must have already thought of something.
Hearing her agreement, Gu Dad and Gu Mom both sighed in relief.
"We talked it over and decided—cooperating with the government is the best route. Don't you have the ability to exchange resources for treasures from other worlds?"
"If you work with the state, you can rely on national resources to help gather what you need. That way, you can strengthen yourself as quickly as possible."
"And once you're stronger, you can help strengthen the country. When the real crises hit later on, maybe our nation will be able to handle it."
Though Gu Dad and Gu Mom were capitalists, their feelings and trust toward their own country were genuine and deep.
After all, Longguo wasn't like the pretty country—it didn't constantly scheme how to exploit its citizens to the extreme.
Longguo always approached its people with the utmost goodwill.
"Alright then, I'll give it a try. Though I'm not sure how much difference this method will actually make…"
Gu Ruoli didn't object. As someone who had lived two lifetimes in Longguo, she held deep affection for this lovable country.
She had no resistance to the idea of working together with the state.
She even wanted—if possible—to lend a hand to this country.
Beside her, Gu Yun couldn't hold back and asked, "Sis, how do you plan to contact the government? Aren't you afraid they'll dissect you?"
The moment the question left her mouth, a hoarse yet slightly comedic male voice rang out from the living room.
"Little girl, don't say such things. At most, our research institute collects a bit of tissue for analysis—we would never dissect a person."
Who was that?!
The entire Gu family instantly stood up, scanning the room in alarm to find the source of the voice.
However, after looking around, they found nothing.
Gu Ruoli narrowed her eyes and, sensing something, closed and reopened them. Her previously black pupils turned pure white.
Eye of Insight.
Scanning the room again, she spotted a man in black hiding within a spatial fold at the very center of the living room.
With a focused thought, the angelic genetic engine in her body instantly activated.
"Seal Distorted Space."
With a crisp shout, the space around them began to twist and warp.
The hidden man was immediately expelled by the shifting space, forcibly revealed in the center of the room.
"???"
Before the man could react, Gu Ruoli was already raising her hand for a second attack. He quickly threw his hands up in surrender.
"Don't! Don't! I'm one of you!"
Gu Ruoli halted her strike upon seeing a distinct red five-star emblem on his chest.
He really was one of their own—a government agent.
But having their first meeting go like this?
Oh no… this was awkward.
"I was just here investigating the aura tide. I didn't mean to eavesdrop. But when I heard this little girl slandering the country, I reflexively spoke up to correct her."
The man quickly explained when Gu Ruoli stopped attacking. He had zero interest in fighting a technological angel.
Did she think he hadn't seen Super Seminary?
Those tech angels were freakishly overpowered. Just the Eye of Insight alone could predict his every move in advance. There was no way to win against that.
"Investigating... aura tide?"
Hearing that, Gu Ruoli's eyes lit up.
"Has spiritual energy really started to recover?"
"Uh… actually, it began over a year ago. It's just that the country was still able to manage things, so the public wasn't informed.
"But in the past year, too many creatures have started evolving under the influence of aura. It's becoming difficult to contain. The plan was to announce it soon anyway."
The man quickly responded. After all, he had heard everything Gu Ruoli and her family had said. He knew just how dangerous this world could become.
And standing right here was a potential powerhouse. If he didn't cling to her now, when would he?
"It's already been over a year?" Gu Ruoli was stunned.
That the nation had been able to lock down all information for over a year without any leaks—it was simply unbelievable.
She looked at the man again, remembering how he had hidden in a space fold to eavesdrop. Suddenly, it all made perfect sense.
