Chapter Fifty-Nine: Broken Reality
"Please, be safe, Isabelle…"Reign murmured to himself while standing outside the old warehouse with Violet beside him.
There was a faded sound of the city in the distance that felt too far away to matter. His mind was only on one thing…Isabelle.
Violet loaded her gun, checking the magazine twice before sliding it back in place. She glanced at him and handed him another pistol.
"Here. Just in case," she said quietly.
Reign took it without hesitation, his grip was stronger than usual. His jaw clenched as he stared at the rusted doors ahead of them. "When this is over," he muttered suddenly in a low but certain tone, "I'm going to remarry her."
Violet blinked, caught off guard. "Remarry?"
"Yes," Reign said without looking at her. "This time, I'll give her the wedding she deserves. No contracts or lies."
For the first time that night, Violet's lips curved into a faint smile. "Then maybe I should confess my feelings to Maxx when this is over."
