Chapter 73 - DB | Ch: 73

In a quiet corner of a rural village, inside a small, cozy home, a couple who had been happily married for over twenty-four years sat together.

They were in the middle of a modest lunch, enjoying the slow, peaceful flow of time. Suddenly, the wife glanced out the window and noticed streaks of red and white light cutting through the midday sky. Her voice brightened with excitement.

"Oh, look, Senbe! Falling stars in the middle of the day!"

"Ho ho, now that's a rare sight," her husband replied, peering out.

Technically, falling stars occurred all the time; they were simply invisible against the daylight. But to see them this clearly was unprecedented. The couple watched with idle curiosity until the two meteors flared with blinding intensity and collided, causing a massive explosion that rattled the windows.

"Senbe... the falling star just blew up."

"Rare indeed," he muttered, blinking.

The couple shared a moment of brief surprise, but the call of their lunch was stronger. By tomorrow, or perhaps the day after, they would likely forget the strange phenomenon entirely. Today, the Earth was as peaceful as ever.

Back in the upper atmosphere, waves of ki collided, sending plumes of explosive fire rippling through the vacuum. But the two combatants had already vanished from the impact site.

They moved as streaks of white and crimson, zig-zagging through the stars and clashing again and again. They flew parallel to one another, trading quick ki bolts and searching for a sliver of an opening.

"Fast!"

Sensing a microscopic gap in the barrage, Lisette dove in. She defied the laws of inertia, making sharp, right-angle turns to take the shortest possible route to Mira. He was mid-motion, preparing a blast, when she slammed both palms into his chest. She funneled her ki deep into his torso, detonating it from the inside out.

Mira coughed up a spray of dark blood, but his resolve didn't waver. He threw a counter-punch, which Lisette parried before driving a piercing strike into his throat. As his head snapped back, she followed up with a heavy elbow that sent him hurtling back toward the Earth's stratosphere.

Gravity took hold, and his falling speed doubled. Mira tried to stabilize himself mid-air, but Lisette wasn't finished. A subspace gate opened directly behind him. He twisted frantically to avoid it—he knew that if he were caught in her rifts, she would simply dump him into the heart of a sun.

The desperate dodge left him wide open.

Thunder rolled across the sky as bolts of divine lightning hammered into Mira from all directions. It was Magic—weaker than her ki-based attacks, but the high-voltage discharge was designed to induce a split-second of paralysis.

That heartbeat of numbness was all she needed. She utilized her divine authority to perform a localized Instant Transmission.

Tactical Execution: Burst Limit pushed to 200x for exactly 0.05 seconds.

The Attack: A point-blank ki orb.

"Sparking Meteor!"

The ultra-high-output blast struck him while he was defenseless. Unlike a beam, which requires a constant drain of energy to maintain, a ki orb is "complete" the moment it is fired. Even if the user is exhausted afterward, the projectile's destructive force remains constant. Lisette exploited this property to dump a massive amount of power into a single, devastating burst without the prolonged physical recoil of a wave.

Mira roared, trying to hold the white comet back. I can take this! This much is nothing!

But he was wrong. The attack wasn't over. The orbs orbiting Lisette flared with light as she gathered her strength for a second follow-up.

"Raging Blast!"

A torrent of white energy erupted from her hands, joined by two smaller beams from her orbiting orbs. The three streams merged, spiraling into a single, massive pillar of light that dove into a subspace gate—and emerged directly behind Mira.

Caught between the Sparking Meteor and the Raging Blast, Mira was trapped in a pincer of absolute destruction.

"GWA... OOOOOOOOOOH!!! AAAAAAAAGH!!"

"HAAAAAAAAAH!!"

The collision of her two greatest techniques created a localized supernova in the sky, painting the atmosphere white. Heavily maimed and trailing smoke, Mira plummeted toward the wasteland below.

Towa's face paled as she watched him fall. She abandoned her fight with Gohan and teleported to Mira's side. Lisette followed instantly, the three of them materializing in a desolate, rocky canyon.

"Mira!"

When Towa reached him, the sight was grisly. His body was scorched and mangled, and his ki was nearly extinguished. To any observer, he was on the verge of death. Yet, Mira forced his eyes open and struggled to stand, glaring up at Lisette.

"Ngh... not... not yet..."

"Mira! It's over! We have to retreat!" Towa pleaded.

"Don't mock me... You think... I would lose... to a woman like her?!"

With a desperate cry, Mira ignited the last of his life force, turning into a crimson streak as he lunged. Lisette met him as a white meteor. They crossed paths in a final clash. Lisette recovered first, pivoting into a fighting stance. Mira tried to fire a desperate blast from a broken posture, but Lisette dodged it by a hair's breadth.

As Mira fell into the post-fire lag, Lisette unleashed her final judgment.

"Raging Blast!!"

The second beam of the day consumed Mira, tearing through his cells. His body, already pushed past its breaking point, could no longer hold itself together. He was atomized, his remains vanishing into the white radiance. When the light faded, not a single fragment of the Demon King remained.

"No... no...!"

Towa stood in a daze of grief and disbelief. But she was a survivalist; she quickly tried to activate her time-leap to escape.

However, that one second of hesitation cost her everything. If she had fled the moment Mira died, she might have made it. But she had lost herself in her shock, and now she was too slow. As the space around her began to warp, Lisette's palm materialized in front of her face.

"Wait—"

BOOM.

A maximum-output Raging Blast point-blank.

Lisette had no intention of letting Towa escape to cause more chaos. The beam reduced the demon scientist to ash, erasing her from the timeline entirely.

"Let there be a thousand blades!"

Even with the targets gone, Lisette didn't let down her guard. She remembered how Mira had survived a previous erasure. She wouldn't leave a single cell to chance. Thousands of light-swords rained down upon the scorched earth, detonating on impact. She leveled the entire canyon, scouring the area with divine ki until she was certain.

Using her peerless sensory abilities, she scanned every microbe and grain of sand. A person can hide their ki, but they cannot make it zero as long as they are alive. Only androids and the dead have no signature. After confirming there was absolutely nothing left, Lisette finally let out a breath.

"It's... over..."

She dropped to her knees, the fatigue finally hitting her like a tidal wave. She pulled a Senzu Bean from her pouch, chewed it, and felt her strength return. The physical wounds were gone, but the mental exhaustion would remain until she could rest.

She stood up, steeled her resolve, and sensed the ki of her friends. The battle against the Majin Buu clones was still raging.

+++

Goku was locked in combat with one of the Buu clones, and he was genuinely surprised. He knew he and his friends had become incredibly powerful over the last seven years, far surpassing the Supreme Kai, who seemed paralyzed by fear. But this Majin was a different story.

Buu was strong. He was fast, immortal, and there were three of them.

"Dah!"

Goku's fists landed repeatedly, but Buu simply absorbed the impact with a giggle. Goku was currently in the form he had mastered over the training years—the form that surpassed the Super Saiyan limit, known as Super Saiyan 2.

Even like this, I don't think I can win, Goku thought. The Goddess was right to be worried.

"You're really something," Goku panted. "No wonder she called us for backup."

"Hehe! I'm the strongest!" the pink monster chirped with childlike glee.

"Maybe... but I haven't shown you everything yet."

Goku took a deep breath. It was time to reveal the power he had kept hidden even from Vegeta.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA—!!!"

Goku's roar shook the planet. The sky darkened and the wind turned into a hurricane. His hair began to grow, cascading down his back to his knees. His eyebrows vanished, replaced by a prominent, fierce brow ridge. Gold sparks danced violently around his aura.

The entire battlefield went silent. Everyone—Vegeta, Turles, even the Buu clones—stopped to stare. Vegeta's face twisted into a mask of pure, unadulterated fury at the sight of the gap between them.

"You're the second person to see this," Goku said, his voice deeper and more resonant. "The first was the Goddess when we sparred a year ago."

He had reached this state by accident during a training session with Lisette. He had stepped beyond the limit of the Super Saiyan... into the third tier. While the form drained his energy rapidly, in terms of raw power, he had finally surpassed Lisette's base state.

"Scary face! But I'm not scared!" Buu yelled, charging.

"You should be. The real fight starts now!"

Goku vanished and reappeared in front of Buu, burying a fist in the monster's stomach. Lightning erupted from the impact. He followed with a brutal uppercut, launching Buu into the clouds before appearing above him for a hammer blow.

He rained a flurry of strikes down on the Majin, each hit distorting space itself. Then, he gathered every drop of his ki into his right fist. The golden energy took the form of a gargantuan, roaring dragon.

"DRAGON FIST!!"

A golden Shenron erupted from his hand, swallowing the Majin Buu clone in its massive jaws. The dragon soared toward the heavens, carrying the monster into the upper atmosphere before exploding in a pillar of golden light.

As the light faded, Goku stood with his fist raised toward the sun, a look of grim satisfaction on his face.

One clone down. Two to go.
