Chapter 68 - DB | Ch: 68

Seven years have passed since the departure of Trunks back to the future. For Goku, Lisette, and the rest of the world, it was a time of unprecedented peace—but as Lisette knew all too well, "peace" didn't necessarily mean everything went according to the history books.

The absence of a world-ending threat allowed for some rather domestic surprises. With Goku still among the living, the Son family finances finally hit a breaking point. Chi-Chi's pressure eventually forced Goku to enter the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament. In the original timeline, the event was interrupted by Bojack's pirates, but with them already erased, the tournament proceeded smoothly. Goku claimed the championship after a spectacular father-son showdown in the finals against Gohan, walking away with a cool 100 million Zeni.

As for the customary fight against the "World Champion," Mr. Satan suddenly developed a severe case of "stomach cramps" the moment he saw Goku's power, successfully avoiding a public thrashing.

Other lives moved forward as well. Krillin, desperate for a chance at love, used the Dragon Balls to remove the explosives from inside Android 18 and Android 17. This led to Krillin and 18 eventually marrying and starting a quiet life together. Poor Android 17 was left as the sole guardian of his island; Lisette could only hope he'd find his own partner eventually.

Even Nappa found a second spring in his step. He had rescued a mermaid caught in a fishing net, and the two had begun a bizarre but genuine romance. While biological heirs were unlikely, the big Saiyan seemed genuinely happy, so Lisette kept her comments to herself.

Regarding her own "divine" slip-up, Lisette had used the Dragon Balls to restore those whose souls she had forcibly purified—excluding irredeemable monsters and a few exceptions like the Pilaf Gang. To ensure the safety of the Earth, she kept the Dragon Balls inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for a hundred days to purge any negative energy, effectively neutralizing the threat of the Shadow Dragons.

The rest of the roster remained focused on their craft. Goku, Vegeta, Turles, and Nappa were caught in a perpetual loop of training, pushing each other's ki to new heights. Piccolo continued his solitary meditation, while Tien and Chiaotzu wandered the globe as martial hermits.

Yamcha, on the other hand, had completely traded his gi for a jersey. He was now the most famous pitcher and home run hitter in history, known to the world as the "Lonely Wolf of the Diamond." He was a superstar on par with Mr. Satan, with internet legends dedicated to his "Golden Era" and fans lining up for days just for an autograph. He remained, however, stubbornly single.

Krillin had retired from fighting, growing out his hair and embracing domestic bliss. It seemed the humans had decided to leave the protection of Earth to the Saiyans, the Namekian, and their Goddess. The wall of power inflation was simply too high and too merciless for them to climb any longer.

Gohan had focused entirely on his studies, securing a place at a prestigious high school. While he occasionally donned a cape as the "Great Saiyaman" to save people from fires and accidents, his actual combat power had dropped significantly below his level as a child. Still, his heroics caught the eye of his classmate Videl. Unlike the original history, Gohan's fame from the World Martial Arts Tournament meant Videl was interested in him from day one—she knew him as the man who could have likely defeated her father.

While Gohan's power waned, his younger brother Goten was a different story. Without any specific catalyst, the boy had awakened as a Super Saiyan and spent his days playing "warrior" with his best friend, kid Trunks. Lisette suspected he might surpass Gohan sooner rather than later.

Lisette herself hadn't been idle. With Cell as a permanent sparring partner, she had refined her skills. She could now maintain her 100-fold Burst Limit for a solid ten minutes. Furthermore, she had visited King Kai and "borrowed" the memories of Guldo. By analyzing the Ginyu Force member's unique biology and mental structure, she managed to replicate his signature move: Time Stop.

Despite her immense power, she could only freeze time for one second. It was a humbling reminder that raw ki wasn't everything. She had also spent years training against mages and psychics, eventually mastering high-level healing magic similar to Majin Buu's.

Lastly, she had taken a proactive approach to cosmic security. She warned King Yemma about the Spirit Laundering Machine's eventual malfunction. After learning that the demon in charge spent his shifts dancing to music on headphones rather than monitoring the gauges, Yemma promptly fired the "idiot" and replaced him with a team of diligent workers.

To bolster Earth's physical defenses, she salvaged the wreckage of the "God Guardon" robots from Dr. Lychee's ruins. Dr. Briefs had successfully mass-produced a dozen of them. While they were strong enough to trade blows with the Goku of seven years ago, Lisette knew that against the upcoming Majin threat, they were mostly expensive wall decorations.

But peace is a fleeting thing. Especially in this universe.

Inside the Lookout's newly established training hall—a space Lisette had expanded using her subspace abilities—the Goddess stood alone, her eyes closed.

Slight intent. A flicker of motion.

In less than a tenth of a second, she perceived the strike. She caught the incoming fist from her right—Cell's fist—and used his momentum to slam him into the floor.

Simultaneously, three more Cells lunged from her left, front, and back. Lisette stepped back, preventing a pincer move, and engaged the clones. Fighting four versions of the same genius was a nightmare of coordination; they covered each other's openings with terrifying efficiency.

Lisette didn't break her composure. She parried, deflected, and flowed through the assault. When the original Cell tried to take her back, she spread her arms and spun. Particles of light erupted from her limbs, forming a shimmering ring that expanded violently, blasting the clones away.

The Cells recovered instantly, each taking a different stance. Lisette flared her ki to its maximum, bracing her barrier.

"Kamehameha!"

"Tri-Beam!"

"Special Beam Cannon!"

"Raging Blast!"

Four signature techniques—borrowed from Goku, Tien, Piccolo, and Lisette herself—slammed into her. Her barrier groaned under the combined pressure but held firm, dispersing the energy into the atmosphere.

Lisette crossed her arms, pulling her radiance inward. It was the silence before the storm.

"Hyper Dimension!"

As she threw her arms wide, a localized hurricane of white light exploded outward. It was an omnidirectional blast wave, similar to the one Piccolo had used at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. While the power was spread thin, it was impossible to dodge. The torrent of light filled the hall.

When the light faded, the clones had vanished. The original Cell stood there, his armor charred and smoking. He smirked, his regenerative cells already knitting his skin back together as he taunted her for more. Lisette took a neutral stance, ready to continue.

Their sparring was interrupted by the heavy doors of the training hall swinging open. Both of them froze.

"Mr. Popo? What is it? You know better than to interrupt our sessions."

"Forgive me, Goddess. But we have... a guest. A very important guest."

A guest? Lisette thought. At first, she assumed it was Goku or Vegeta, but she quickly dismissed it. Popo would have told them to wait or simply announced their names. He used the word "guest" with a reverence that suggested someone of much higher standing.

Lisette straightened her robes, using a quick burst of ki to blow the dust and singe marks off her clothes.

"I'm sorry, Cell. We'll have to finish this later."

"I'm coming with you," Cell said, his expression uncharacteristically serious. "I sense a strange presence. It's unlike anything I've felt before."

It wasn't a Guardian, or King Yemma, or even King Kai. It was a ki that felt... ancient. Refined.

Lisette stepped out onto the main deck of the Lookout and stopped. Seeing the two figures waiting for her, she finally understood Popo's concern.

"I apologize for the wait," Lisette said, keeping her voice calm and professional. "We rarely have visitors in this part of the galaxy."

"It's no trouble at all. We arrived without an invitation," replied a man with a mohawk and a familiar, Frieza-like face. It was the Supreme Kai.

To Lisette, this was her boss's boss's boss. If the universe were a franchise, Earth was a tiny branch in the middle of nowhere, and Lisette was the store manager. The man standing before her was the CEO.

"I am the Guardian of this planet," Lisette said, bowing slightly. "How may I assist you?"

"Before we speak of that, I must explain who I am. I am the one who oversees this universe—the Supreme Kai. It is a pleasure to meet you."

As they exchanged pleasantries, Lisette subtly reached into his mind. Shin had some psychic defenses, but they were full of holes. He had likely never encountered anyone "disrespectful" enough to try reading his mind before. To a veteran psychic like Lisette, his barriers were like paper.

The first thing she sensed from him was... confusion. He was baffled by the fact that he couldn't read her mind.

It seemed the "Goddess of Justice" act was working. Shin had chosen his words carefully—calling himself the "overseer of the universe" to establish authority and keep her intimidated. Lisette decided to play along to put him at ease.

"Oh! The Supreme Kai himself? Please, forgive my lack of decorum!"

"Hehe, please, do not worry. It was my fault for not introducing myself sooner. Relax, please."

He's young, Lisette thought. His actual age was likely thousands of years, but his spirit was unrefined, almost naive. He lacked the cynicism and tactical depth of a seasoned ruler. It made him a poor negotiator, but a decent person.

"So, why has the highest god in the universe come to our humble galaxy?"

"First, a question. Years ago, you recovered a large, fleshy orb and sealed it away, did you not?"

As expected: Majin Buu.

Lisette had already secured the egg, layering it with her own divine seals to ensure Babidi could never crack it open. She hadn't told anyone, but the Supreme Kai had eyes everywhere. He had likely heard of it through Fortuneteller Baba or Other World reports.

"Yes. I felt a malevolent presence within it, so I secured it for safekeeping."

"A magnificent decision," Shin said, his relief palpable. "It is no exaggeration to say you may have saved the entire universe."

Lisette could feel the genuine terror behind his praise. The trauma of seeing his fellow Kais slaughtered and the Grand Supreme Kai absorbed by the Majin was still raw in his mind. The fact that a "fringe Goddess" had solved his greatest problem was the best news he'd had in eons.

"That orb contains a terrible monster known as Majin Buu..."

Shin began his long explanation of the Majin's history. Lisette listened patiently, though she already knew the story by heart. Behind her, she sensed Cell's amusement; the bio-android was also eavesdropping on the conversation.

The Supreme Kai is here. History is shifting again, Lisette thought. I just hope this change turns out to be a good one.
