Chapter 57 - Ch: 57

"LONG LIVE KING VEGETA!"

"The scum of the galaxy have been gathered from every corner to serve as your loyal subjects, my King."

As Vegeta stepped toward the palace constructed on New Planet Vegeta, a motley crew of various aliens greeted him with a thunderous roar. Their power levels were negligible, but their numbers were vast.

Vegeta scanned the crowd, feeling a surge of annoyance. Couldn't he have gathered a higher class of warrior?Even the palace itself felt rushed, lacking the grandeur a Prince of his stature deserved. He was already deeply dissatisfied.

Entering the throne room, he noticed a black-haired man with a vacant, sleepy expression. This youth possessed a ki significantly larger than the rabble outside—though still lower than Paragus's—and there was something familiar about the quality of his energy.

"This is my son," Paragus introduced him. "Use him as you see fit."

"I am Broly," the youth said, bowing politely.

Lisette had given the name of the Legendary Super Saiyan to Vegeta and the others years ago, but at the time, Vegeta had been so consumed by the humiliation of Turles reaching the legend first that he hadn't listened. Naturally, three years later, he had no memory of the name.

"You're a Saiyan as well, I see?" Vegeta grunted.

"Yes..."

Vegeta had originally thought only five Saiyans remained: himself, Nappa, Raditz, Kakarot, and Gohan. But it seemed the race was more persistent than he'd thought. Counting Turles, Paragus, Broly, and the Trunks from the future, that made nine... plus that useless younger brother of his sent to a remote planet. Ten in total.

As he mused on the survival of his race, a soldier sprinted into the room, looking panicked.

"Reporting! A Super Saiyan has appeared on Planet Totokama!"

"What!?" Vegeta's eyes lit up. He let out a predatory, battle-hungry laugh. "So, the legend shows himself at last! Broly, follow me! We're leaving for Totokama immediately!"

Vegeta turned on his heel, heading back toward the ships before he'd even unpacked. Broly followed silently behind him.

"Father, wait!" Trunks shouted, trying to intercept them. "Charging in blindly is dangerous! We need more information!"

"A coward is welcome to stay behind!" Vegeta barked without looking back. "Broly, move!"

"Father...!"

Vegeta was operating on a knife's edge. His pride was a shattered mosaic, and he was desperate to prove he could solo a threat that had supposedly ended the future. Watching his departure, Paragus stroked his beard and let out a dark, satisfied chuckle. His plan was proceeding exactly as intended.

"Uwa-hehehe! W-What is the meaning of this!? Where am I!?"

At that same moment, back on Earth, a tentacled, octopus-like alien scientist was panicking.

Lisette had originally planned to steal Paragus's control device, but she'd realized that since this scientist had built the thing, it would be more efficient to "recruit" him to build a better one. So, she had kidnapped him via a sub-space rift.

Lisette calmly explained the reality of his situation: New Planet Vegeta was on a collision course with the Gumory Comet, and Paragus had only prepared a single-seater pod for himself. To Paragus, everyone—including his lead scientist—was a disposable pawn.

The octopus turned pale. He immediately pledged his total allegiance to the Goddess.

"Uwa-hehehe! Total cooperation! I will provide all the technology! Please, stay your hand, I am completely harmless!"

(How quickly he turns,) Lisette thought. Using her telepathy, she confirmed his words; his loyalty was purely a product of terror, and thus easily broken. She offered him a "carrot": the chance to conduct unlimited research at Capsule Corporation. The scientist was instantly won over, his weird, cackling laughter echoing through the sanctuary.

"Bulma, he's all yours," Lisette said, handing him over.

"Alien tech, huh?" Bulma mused, poking the scientist. "I suppose I can make it work. Don't worry, Lisette, I'll handle the hardware. You! Tentacle-man! Start talking!"

"I am officially an Earthling now!" the scientist squealed.

Bulma dragged him toward her private jet. Lisette wasn't worried about the scientist escaping; Android 16 was currently acting as a guard at Capsule Corp. If the octopus tried anything funny, a Hell's Flash would turn him into calamari.

(With any luck, we'll have a superior control device ready before things get ugly. If not, I'll just have to take the remote from Paragus the old-fashioned way.)

"Looks like we might actually get through this one without a brawl," Turles muttered, leaning against a pillar.

Piccolo and Nappa were nearby, looking bored. Tien was already in a meditative trance in front of the door to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, waiting for his turn.

Goku and Gohan had entered only twelve hours ago. There should have been plenty of time left. Yet, against all expectations, the heavy wooden doors creaked open.

"What?"

"Impossible! It's too early!"

Lisette, Turles, and Nappa stared in shock. Emerging from the chamber were Goku and Gohan. Their clothes were shredded, and their hair was glowing a permanent, shimmering gold.

They were Super Saiyans. But the feeling was different.

There was no aggressive pressure, no violent aura. They stood in their transformed states with a calm, natural air, as if being a golden warrior was as effortless as breathing. The wild, blood-hungry eyes of the typical transformation were gone, replaced by a peaceful clarity.

Lisette marveled at Goku's genius. In just half a day (six months of internal time), he had completely mastered the form, reaching the state of Full Power Super Saiyan.

"Yo, Lisette!" Goku grinned. "Sorry, but can I get some new clothes? These are pretty much junk now."

"Oh, of course. The usual style?"

Lisette flicked her wrist, manifesting a fresh set of orange and blue gi for Goku. Simultaneously, Piccolo provided Gohan with a miniature version of his own weighted gear.

The legendary "Cell Games" era Gohan was born—at only nine years old.

"Kakarot," Turles said, narrowing his eyes. "You've made the transformation your base state? To avoid the drain of the initial burst?"

"Yeah. It's a lot easier on the body this way," Goku replied calmly.

"Clever bastard."

Turles was impressed. This Goku didn't radiate power; he contained it.

"So," Turles asked. "How strong are you now?"

"Well," Goku said, stretching his arms. "I think I can take anyone. Except the Goddess, maybe."

"Oh? You think you're above me now?"

"Yeah. Quite a bit, actually."

Goku's confidence wasn't arrogance—it was a simple assessment. Turles laughed, knowing Goku wasn't the type to bluff in a situation like this.

"I can feel your ki better than before," Goku said, turning to Lisette. "But it's still like looking through a thick fog. I'm getting close, but I haven't caught up yet, have I?"

"...No," Lisette admitted with a bead of sweat. "Not quite yet."

Goku was right. He was nearing her level, but she still held the edge in raw output. However, Gohan was the real surprise. The latent power vibrating beneath the boy's calm surface was even greater than Goku's.

"Goddess, it's our turn," Tien announced, standing up.

"Go ahead," Lisette nodded.

"I'm coming too," Nappa added. "I'm not letting Kakarot leave me in the dust."

The two bald warriors entered the chamber and sealed the door. Lisette then turned her "Far-Sight" toward New Planet Vegeta. Vegeta was still on his wild goose chase to Totokama. Paragus was frantically searching for his missing scientist. Trunks, Yamcha, and Krillin were currently making friends with the Shamoan slaves.

"Hey, Lisette," Goku said, breaking her concentration.

"Yes, Goku?"

"Is this 'Legendary Super Saiyan' really that tough?"

"Yes. Probably strong enough that all of us fighting together might not be enough to stop him."

"Wow! That sounds amazing! I really want to try fighting him!"

"I understand the feeling," Lisette sighed, "but forget it. There's no guarantee we'd win safely. And in your case, it's even worse. If you encounter him, there's a high chance he'll lose what little mind he has left and go into a permanent berserk rage."

Broly's obsession with the infant who made him cry was a biological imperative Lisette didn't want to trigger.

"Anyway, for now, we wait for Bulma's control device. We aren't making a move until the gear is ready."

"You're being too cautious," Turles grunted. "Why wait? Let's just warp in and take Paragus's remote now."

"Because I read the scientist's mind before I brought him here," Lisette countered. "Paragus's remote is biometrically locked to his own specific ki signature. If we steal it, it becomes a paperweight. And if we break it before we have a replacement... Broly is unleashed."

Lisette had learned from her past life's mistakes. Sometimes, being proactive meant being patient.
