Did Doudou get into trouble?
Celia hung up the phone and rushed back to the Foster family mansion.
Foster Family Mansion
Madam Fu was seated on the living room sofa, her face dark with fury.
"Celia, you finally decided to show up! Someone restrain this murderer!"
Celia's gaze was icy. "Madam Fu, let me see Doudou first."
"See Doudou? You country bumpkin! You're trying to imitate Rosalie's candy supplements, but I believe you intended to harm her from the start. I'm sending you straight to the police!"
"Celia!" A calm voice came from the side—it was her Third Uncle, Shaun Wen.
"Uncle Shaun, can I see Doudou?"
"Of course. Come with me."
Madam Fu abruptly stood. "Shaun, are you out of your mind? This girl tried to murder Doudou!"
"Mother, stop talking nonsense." Shaun Wen's brows furrowed. "Celia would never harm her. Don't forget—she's part of this family too. She's our blood."
Madam Fu faltered at his words.
Shaun led Celia upstairs. In the hallway, Jiang Meiling hurried to them, clasping Celia's hand anxiously.
"Celia, please check on Doudou. She was perfectly fine, but after taking that candy and sleeping for a while, she suddenly started vomiting and had diarrhea."
Celia glanced at Jiang Meiling, then at Shaun. "Uncle Shaun, Aunt Meiling… don't you suspect me at all?"
Jiang Meiling looked confused. "Suspect you of what?"
"That I hurt Doudou. After all, it was my candy she supposedly took."
"Silly child, we're family. If you meant to harm Doudou, you wouldn't have saved her last time."
A faint warmth stirred in Celia's chest—perhaps the first genuine warmth she had felt in this household.
She stepped into the bedroom, her expression sharpening. "Doudou didn't take the candy I gave her."
"What?"
Jiang Meiling shot a look at Shaun, who immediately stepped out of the room. Celia took out a fine silver needle and gently inserted it into an acupuncture point on Doudou's wrist. Gradually, the child's breathing steadied, her small face pale but peaceful, slipping into a deep sleep.
"Celia, is she going to be alright?"
"Yes. She'll be fine," Celia replied, tucking the blanket around the child.
Just then, Shaun returned, a maid in tow. His tone was cold. "Tell us the truth. Did you swap the candy?"
The maid trembled. "N-No… it wasn't me. It was the eldest young lady. She threw away Miss Celia's candy and told me to use hers instead."
"Rosalie?" Jiang Meiling's voice was sharp with anger. "That impostor switched Celia's candy—she nearly killed Doudou!"
Shaun's face darkened. "Celia, I heard your stepfather from the countryside is here to take you back. Word is, he's Rosalie's biological father. Do you want me to step in?"
Celia gave a faint smile. "Thank you, Uncle Shaun, Aunt Meiling. But I can handle this myself."
"Celia," Shaun said firmly, "we're on your side."
Jiang Meiling nodded. "Always."
When Celia left the Foster mansion, she spotted Su Changrong, Li Lan, Rosalie, and Mrs. Song standing together.
Mrs. Song beamed. "Mr. Su, Mrs. Li, congratulations! Your family has been named 'Model Family of the City.' The TV station will be interviewing you tomorrow. Don't be nervous—just talk about the love in your household and how you raised such an exceptional daughter like Rosalie."
Mrs. Song's gesture was clearly aimed at helping Rosalie. She had leveraged her personal connections to secure the honor for Su Changrong's family, ensuring that Rosalie would be the center of public admiration.
