Chapter 91 – The Talk
"Good morning~!"
The moment Akira stepped into the living room, Xenovia greeted him with a cheerful smile.
It was honestly hard to believe that the girl standing before him was the same Holy Sword wielder who once stormed into the Occult Research Club like she owned the place.
Back then, she had exuded pride and unwavering confidence—even while surrounded by Devils. She held her ground with the dignity of a devout holy warrior.
But now? She acted like they were old friends hanging out after school. The contrast was insane.
"…So, you've really given up on everything?"
"Pretty much," Xenovia replied without hesitation. "God is dead. My faith crumbled along with Him. And, well, Rias-buchou made me an offer… so I took it."
"…Eh?"
Akira glanced toward Rias with a look that practically screamed, Seriously, you invited her?
Rias simply looked away, as if to say, What?
Inviting a former Church agent—who wielded a Holy Sword, no less—into her peerage? That was either genius… or insanity.
And the crazier part? Xenovia had accepted. She'd actually gone and become a Devil.
It wasn't just a loss of faith—it was a complete betrayal of everything she once stood for.
Naturally, Akira's gaze drifted to Irina Shidou, standing stiffly by the wall, her tension palpable.
"You too—"
"Perfect timing," Irina interrupted, her tone sharp. "I'm here to retrieve the Holy Swords—Church property."
"Church property?" Akira repeated with a frown. "If they were that precious, why send two teenage girls to 'guard' them while three had already been stolen?"
"You—!"
"Don't say you 'had it under control.' You were sent to die, and you know it. Your superiors abandoned you."
"…"
Irina fell silent.
Xenovia just shrugged beside her. That exact betrayal was why she had turned her back on the Church.
She'd devoted her life to serving them, never asking for rewards. She had potential—raw talent as a Holy Sword wielder. And yet, when it really mattered… they threw her away.
Anyone in her shoes would've snapped. Honestly, the fact that she wasn't trying to torch the Vatican said a lot about her self-restraint.
"It doesn't matter. They're still Church property…"
Despite knowing her argument was weak, Irina stubbornly clung to it.
But then, in an instant—everything changed.
The atmosphere dropped like a boulder.
A suffocating pressure slammed down onto the room. Irina buckled to her knees, her body unable to withstand the overwhelming aura.
There was no doubt. This was Shin Akira's spiritual pressure—an aura far beyond anything a mid-tier exorcist like her could handle. The gap between them wasn't just massive—it was divine.
"You think you can make demands of me?" Akira's voice cut through the tension like a blade. "You want to take the swords? Fine. Have Michael come talk to me personally."
The way he said it—calm, cool, yet absolute—made everyone in the room shiver.
Even Akeno, who was used to his overwhelming presence, felt her heart skip a beat. He was just too captivating. His power wasn't just strength—it was charisma that dominated the room.
"You… you want to force Archangel Michael to negotiate directly with you? Are you declaring war on Heaven?"
"War? Over you?" Akira scoffed. "Be realistic. Even if I crushed you here and now, Michael wouldn't lift a finger. You're not worth it. And deep down, you know that."
"…"
Again, silence. But this time, Irina didn't resist. She knew he wasn't bluffing.
She was nothing more than a disposable soldier now. And Akira—he wasn't just strong. He was Rias's fiancé, Gremory's golden child, and the future brother-in-law of Sirzechs Lucifer.
There wasn't a single reason Heaven would start a conflict over her.
With a wave of his hand, the five Holy Swords neatly stacked nearby began to glow, then floated into his grasp.
Without a second thought, Akira tossed them behind the couch like they were junk.
Everyone stared, stunned. Those were Holy Swords—relics of divine power—and he treated them like cheap props.
Irina's eyes burned with fury. But in the end, she couldn't do a thing. She was quickly escorted out of the house.
She didn't belong here anymore.
And once she was gone, everyone turned to Xenovia.
"…Okay. Explain."
Akira, now seated on the couch, fixed his gaze on her.
"Just like I said earlier," Xenovia replied, her tone calm. "I've given up on all of it. Rias-buchou offered me a new path, and I accepted. I'm officially a Devil now—a Knight in her peerage. Please take care of me."
With that, she gave a deep bow.
"Well, well… another member joins the club," Akeno said with her usual gentle smile.
"Welcome aboard," Kiba greeted with a nod.
"Welcome," Koneko added in her usual curt tone.
"Welcome, Xenovia-san," Asia said softly, folding her hands together.
Despite everything, everyone welcomed her sincerely. She was family now.
"So… any plans for what you want to do next?" Akira asked, his expression unreadable.
"Not really," Xenovia said with a shrug. "I've never had a normal life. The Church was strict—discipline, missions, rules. I want to experience everything I've missed."
"That's fair," Akira nodded. "You deserve a life of your own."
"Oh, and one more thing," she added casually. "I want to try falling in love."
That came out of nowhere.
"In the Church, romance was forbidden. I barely even talked to guys. So, if I'm breaking the old rules, I might as well go all in."
Akira raised a brow. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Xenovia smiled confidently. "Date me, Shin Akira."
"…Huh?"
He froze, completely caught off guard.
Across the room, Akeno's expression darkened ever so slightly. Her usual warm smile faded, replaced by a subtle glare.
Rias let out a sigh, massaging her temple. And here we go again...
Koneko's stare became sharp, almost disapproving.
Even Asia looked visibly shaken, a flicker of pain in her soft blue eyes.
"No," Akira said firmly. "I already have Akeno. And Rias is my fiancée. I'm not looking for anyone else."
But Xenovia wasn't giving up.
"Then… I'll be your mistress."
The room fell deathly silent.
She wasn't confessing her feelings. She simply wanted to know what love felt like—and figured this was the fastest way to find out.
But before Akira could react, a voice cut in—quiet, cold, and terrifying.
"…Xenovia-san."
It was Akeno.
Her tone was sweet as always, but the pressure behind it was immense. An ominous shadow loomed behind her—shaped like a wrathful oni, oozing spiritual force.
The temperature plummeted. The air grew heavy with killing intent.
"Did you just say you wanted to be my boyfriend's mistress... right in front of me?"
Xenovia, having never seen this side of Akeno before, turned pale.
"I-I'm sorry!" she squeaked, bowing so fast her forehead nearly hit the floor.
