Chapter 2 - Two

Chapter Two: Not so bad, is it?

Funny enough, she didn't even have much work to do. In fact, she was kind of overlooked today—though not without a stern warning to never show up late again.

"It's not like it's going to happen again," she scoffed inwardly, arranging the patients' files in neat, almost military order.

The day wasn't so bad after all. Everyone had been friendly, and she felt like she could actually fit in—well, except for one particular thorn: Ms. Roy. That woman kept staring at her like she was an unexpected test result.

"What's her deal?" she sighed, rolling her eyes and getting back to her task.

She didn't usually let people like that get under her skin, but something about Ms. Roy was just... annoying. Still, she knew if she was going to survive in this place, she had to play it cool.

What she was doing now was fun. She liked at she was given an actual task today after everything. She was humming quietly as the arranged the files neatly and of course, perfectly. She was so focused on what she was doing that she didn't notice or hear anyone call her.

"Ms Hubble?" She was startled as she flinched.

"Who in the world is this to scare me like this?" She thought annoyed by this person.

"Did I scare you? My sincere apologies, Ms Hubble" the man said politely and formally.

"Why's he so formal with me? And how in the world did everyone know my name?!" She screamed inwardly but smiled instead.

"Oh, it's okay. I was just so focused here and it happened " she was trying her best to not sound too casual.

"It's a good thing. It seems like you live what you're doing and that admirable" he smiled at her showing his dimples.

"Okay. He has dimples" she smiled back.

She was waiting for this man to introduce himself but nothing was coming.

Silence. Silence. Silence.

"What is your name?" She asked herself. Since the man seemed to have no plans of introducing himself.

"Oh my apologies. My name Matthew. Matthew Joseph."

What was happening? Was he so formal with everyone too? Daisy wanted to laugh because why say 'my apologies ' when you can just say simple sorry. Mehhh that's him.

"Nice to meet you, Mr Joseph. Seems like you already know my name even if I don't know how" she added the last part on purpose.

"Well, Ms Roy made you popular. Everyone in your department knows your name. I just passed by and heard so I came to see you myself" he explain.

"Oh Ms Roy" she smiled awkwardly. That woman was acting rather funny.

---

Daisy and Mr. Joseph talked for a while as he helped her arrange the patient files. He spoke warmly about the hospital—its different departments, the staff, even a bit of its history. Somewhere between lifting a folder and placing it in the right cabinet, he promised to show her around properly sometime soon.

Mr. Joseph was... easy on the eyes. With neatly styled brown hair and striking bright brown eyes, he had a calm confidence about him. He stood tall, maybe 6'2, and that British accent? Crisp and charming. He mentioned he was originally from England, and the way he spoke made it hard not to listen—even when he was just talking about hospital protocols.
