'So he has multiple kagune type, truly a rare breed. Nevertheless I still have the advantage' Aiko thought.
With two Koukaku on the field, the one to make the first move would decide the ultimate outcome. And Zero two seized the opportunity.
He leaped forward pointing the spear to stab her. But Aiko quickly dodged it. The spear hit the road. Breaking the asphalt it created a tiny crater. Aiko looked intently at the site of impact.
"See, my Koukaku is not purely defensive, it also packs a punch. Now show me what your has" he said pointing his spear at her kagune.
Aiko dashed toward her, aiming to injure him again with the spiky side of her shell. But Zero two defended himself with his kagune.
The kagune was robust and was withstanding the intense force of Aiko's kagune. Zero two motioned his kagune outward and threw Aiko a few feet away. Surely things were not in her favour.
But Aiko had a plan. She need to just get closed enough. She can increased the air pressure inside her shell and shoot all the spikes at him. His kagune may protect him from some of them. But when he would be defending himself she would give the finishing blow.
The plan was solid and she already put it in motion. When she was halfway towards him, Zero two seem relaxed. Or maybe he was smiling. A smile whose intention she didn't anticipated.
The Koukaku kagune dissolve into his body and from his back the Ukaku wings emerged. Aiko was caught off guard. Multiple projectiles hit her, blasting her several metres away.
She was slightly bleeding but from several regions. But it would take time for all the wounds inflicted to be healed.
She stood up, her hairs dishevelled covering much of her face. She look at him with the stare of a wounded predator.
"Brat! I didn't wish to kill anyone today. Since you are from the CCG, I can't let you live any minute more. You have made me use it. Few have seen my kakuja and had escaped alive to tell others. Brace yourself" she warned him.
Zero two calmly waited to see her kakuja form.
Her shell was getting larger. All the spikes on it side disappear and the tip elongated as long as the shell itself. The calcination spread much further. It creep above her arm, forming a small shield around her nape. A lump of it form covering her head, it condensed and liquidify simultaneously forming a helmet like structure that spread and cover her upper face. Her kakuja resemble more of a western fencing type.
"Round two begins now" she said.
A chill ran down Zero two spine. He could feel that a hit from that stuff would tear him apart. Yet the thrill of the impending fight was unbearable.
At once he let out multiple projectiles towards Aiko. But she stood there eyeing the incoming energy bullets. With the swift movement of her shell sword she deflected all the projectile. Zero two was slightly amazed.
"You can deflect energy projectiles, but can you withstand this" he said, bringing his wings forward and creating a large ball of energy. The ball bursted and a powerful beam raced towards Aiko. She dozed it sideways.
"Don't ever used that move again" Aiko advised him, pointing the tip towards him.
"Why? Are you afraid, well here another barrage" he said delightfully.
But when he prepared to launch, he noticed much of his wings was punctured up. He was puzzled as much as he was shocked.
'How did my wings get torn. She didn't move, neither do I feel the presence of anyone else nearby. Was it a sniper, unlikely it is too dark to shot from distance' he thought.
The clue was given out by her kakuja tip. The pointed tip had a tiny hole. He understood and smiled.
Aiko's kakuja shell draw air from it posterior end. The air is compressed inside the shell and shout out as bullet from the tip. Invisible but deadly.
Zero two drew his wings back and recreated his Koukaku. Both ran towards each other and locked the spear. Zero two tried to hit her shell as hard as he could. He was aiming to break it apart.
"Your kakuja may look thin but is quite tough" he commented. The tip grazed his forehead. He darted away to safety, but quickly noticed that the cut was a wound and blood was covering his forehead.
He was changing his kagune to Ukaku, but Aiko raced towards him and landed a kick on his chest, blasting him off. It was not a serious move but it ascertain something.
"So you can't use both you kagune at once. Good. I found the loophole in your defense. Get ready to get beaten punk" she said.
Realising that his cards were out he let out a defeatish smile, but still strongly held the urge to continue the battle.
He let out his wings and launched multiple projectiles. Aiko evaded every one of them. But Zero two in the commotion gathered every possible energy and launch a beam. This one was much thinner than the previous one.
Aiko doughed it my leaping into the air. At once Zero two noticed an opening to impale her with his Koukaku. He started generating his kagune but a strong flying kick felt on his face that blasted him off.
"See I told you, your tricks won't work anymore" she said.
"Even if you have found my weakness, it is far from over. You must kill me to win" he shouted at her.
"Very well I will finish you off" she said.
What followed was an intense sword fight . Both were hitting each other, however Aiko kakuja was deflecting much of the attacks.
Aiko prepared to end this battle for good. She ran towards him, which suprised Zero two. She did a low drift and was just under him. She aim to put her spear right through his head. And she had already calculated that he would use his Ukaku as a counter. But producing it will take a few seconds and she would finish him within those few seconds.
But what appeared wasn't the mothy wings but six hands. For a moment Zero two looked like an Asura. When the light hit much better, the Rinkaku came into much better view. They were blood red similar to Reze's kagune.
Like an army of snake they headed towards her, impaling and subduing. The Rinkaku broke through her kakuja, piercing her flesh and throwing her a few feet away.
The impact was severe. She was at the point of losing consciousness. Zero two looked at the lying body of Aiko and a wide smile set up on his face. He had finally won.
From the same road from which Zero two arrived, came out his companion Mabi. All the time during the battle he was hiding behind the building and was incharge of calling back up if need be.
"Hurray Zero two you have defeated ONI. We did it. The CCG are coming to secure" he greeted him.
"Yes I did, I did it. I finally defeated the strongest ghoul. I defeated ONI" he repeated.
To this Mabi nodded.
