Chapter 238: Qian Renxue Unleashes His Full Power, Tang San Questions His Life
Early the next morning, the Heaven Dou Royal Academy Second Team was already fully energized and assembled at the hotel entrance.
After breakfast, the seven members stood tall before Yu Xiaogang. Compared to yesterday, the team lineup had changed slightly: Gu Chen, Tang San, Yu Tianheng, Dai Mubai, Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Oscar.
Ye Lingling had been completely drained and, even with Ning Fengzhi's healing assistance, had only recovered enough to deal with yesterday's injuries sustained against the Spirit Hall team and Dai Mubai's prior wounds from the Star Luo match. Zhu Zhuqing had not recovered, so she was replaced by Dai Mubai.
The Second Team exuded confidence. Having already defeated their strongest enemy—Spirit Hall—they felt Tianshui was no real threat. The strength gap between the two was negligible. And if they still couldn't win, they could always use the same tactics they employed the previous afternoon.
Yu Xiaogang, hands behind his back, looked solemnly in Spirit Hall's direction and said sharply, "Children, go. Win the championship. Claim the 100,000-year soul bones that are rightfully yours. Let Spirit Hall know that tyranny comes with a price."
Head held high, the Heaven Dou team stepped onto the street. Many soul masters watched silently from the roadside. Remaining students from other Heaven Dou academies emerged as well, eyes filled with hope that these warriors could bring glory back to the empire.
Tianshui Academy, although technically also part of the Heaven Dou Empire, had a significant asterisk—the presence of the Pope's son. That tainted the meaning of their potential victory.
Golden sunlight bathed the Pope's Hall in a majestic glow. As the Heaven Dou team ascended the stone steps, the air seemed to grow heavier with each step.
Approaching the front of the Pope's Hall, the Shrek crowd noticed six figures waiting—not including Chrysanthemum and Ghost Douluo. The sixth was a stunning young woman with golden hair.
Her skin was pale as snow, her nose perfectly shaped, and her eyes gentle yet assertive. She wore a golden gown with a high collar that protected her snow-white neck. Her hair, long and unkempt, cascaded over her shoulders in stark contrast to her regal attire.
They recognized her—sort of. She was both familiar and unfamiliar. Her appearance had changed, but her name and identity remained the same: Qian Renxue.
As the Saintess of Spirit Hall and daughter of both the Pope and High Priestess, Qian Renxue's status surpassed even the elders. She had every right to sit beside the Pope and emerge from the hall's front doors.
Qian Renxue didn't care what the Shrek group thought. Her eyes, lazy moments ago, sharpened when she spotted Xiao Wu. Yesterday, her father had mentioned that her eighth 100,000-year soul ring was near—but he hadn't told her which beast it would come from. After asking her mother, she learned of Xiao Wu. Who else could it be?
Xiao Wu met her gaze with no fear. Her identity as a 100,000-year soul beast had long since been exposed. She had participated in every phase of the tournament. Besides, she was protected by Tang Xiao, Ning Fengzhi, Bone Douluo, and even Ah Yin. Unless she betrayed humanity, Spirit Hall had no grounds to harm her.
Today, the Tianshui team's formation was completely different. Qian Renxue, normally a control-type, was now standing in Shui Bing'er's spot, while Shui Bing'er, a power-type, stood at the rear. Their strange arrangement confused everyone. If this weren't the finals, people would have laughed out loud.
Even if they were trying to counter Gu Chen's tactics from yesterday, why would Shui Bing'er be moved to the back?
Heaven Dou Second Team also changed their formation. Gu Chen and Yu Tianheng stood in front. Behind them were Dai Mubai, Tang San, and Xiao Wu. The last row held Ning Rongrong and Oscar, forming a 2-3-2 layout.
Tang San couldn't use his Blue Silver Grass—it was suppressed by the Blue Silver Emperor. That left only his Clear Sky Hammer without soul rings. Still, they let him fight. If he could complete his seventy-seven-forty-nine swing hammer combo, it could still be devastating. After all, only two Tianshui members could fly.
"Prepare for battle. Both sides, release your spirits."
The red-robed bishop gave the signal and quickly retreated to clear the field.
The fourteen contestants locked eyes. No words were exchanged, but the atmosphere instantly reached a boiling point.
The seven from Heaven Dou burst with power. Gu Chen and Yu Tianheng, standing at the front, unleashed the continent's strongest defense and beast spirits. Dai Mubai and Xiao Wu released their two yellow, two purple rings. Tang San held his ringless Clear Sky Hammer. Behind them, Ning Rongrong raised the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, and Oscar summoned his sausages.
All eyes, however, focused on Qian Renxue, standing at the front of Tianshui with three purple and two black rings.
"Begin!" the bishop declared as the final match of the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Tournament commenced.
Gu Chen, Yu Tianheng, Xiao Wu, and Dai Mubai charged. Ning Rongrong and Oscar prepared to assist—then froze. Their eyes widened in disbelief.
"What!?"
"What is this!?"
Cries of shock erupted across the plaza. Tang Xiao, Ning Fengzhi, Bone Douluo—everyone stared, stunned.
Yu Xiaogang couldn't help but shout, "Impossible!"
Blue Silver Grass leaves filled the air like a torrential downpour, engulfing the Heaven Dou team. Around Qian Renxue, countless vines and leaves flew, his hands coordinating them like a puppeteer. The entire screen filled with flying foliage.
Even Qian Xunji found his eyes hurting from trying to follow it all.
Qian Renxue activated his Seven-Orifices Exquisite Heart, targeting all seven Heaven Dou members. The Blue Silver Blades launched a full-force, omnidirectional assault.
"AAAAAHHHH!" ×3
Three agonized screams pierced the plaza.
"Rongrong!!"
"Xiao San!!"
Tang Xiao and Ning Fengzhi stared wide-eyed as Tang San and Ning Rongrong screamed in agony, along with Oscar. Blue Silver Blades slashed across their bodies, shredding clothes and carving deep gashes. Blood flowed freely. The two were soon drenched red.
Tang San was hit so many times he looked like a hedgehog. His palm, too, was pierced by countless blades.
Qian Renxue hadn't targeted them specially. Every member except the two support-type soul masters had received the same full-force barrage.
Oscar and Ning Rongrong simply had no way to defend themselves.
But Tang San—he had completely forgotten to defend. He didn't even start his hammer combo.
He was utterly shocked.
How could this be happening? How could Qian Renxue strike seven people at once with such terrifying, precise accuracy?
His hidden weapon skills, mental strength, and control had once been unmatched. Now he felt small—ashamed—and began to doubt everything.
Is this guy… really reborn from Douluo Continent, just like me?
