Chapter 82: Qian Renxue's Slaughter Lesson

After five days of travel, two carriages arrived at a mountainous region with dense forests. The mountains weren't tall, but the vegetation was lush and abundant.

Looking closely, the soil in the area was dark—almost black in some parts—with patches of foul-smelling flesh scattered around.

The dark soil had been stained by blood, and the putrid meat came from human corpses.

"Your Holiness, we're nearly there. Up ahead is the Wolf Raiders' den."

Qian Xunji nodded and stepped out of the carriage. "Elder Ghost, flush them out."

"As you command, Your Holiness."

This mountain range was where the Wolf Raiders lived. Before setting out on his trip, Qian Xunji had written to the Heaven Dou Empire, inquiring about areas infested with these creatures.

Though Spirit Hall had countless branches across the continent, in smaller villages, the so-called "branch" might only be a wooden shack. A single Soul Master would be sent during awakening season and would leave soon after. For the rest of the year, the village was on its own.

Wolf Raiders—were they human? Not quite. They were hybrid beings—offspring of humans and a soul beast known as the Gale Demon Wolf.

These wolves were notoriously lecherous and could mate with any creature of similar size, particularly human women. Their union birthed a unique species: the Wolf Raiders—half-wolf, half-human monsters.

They possessed the physique, speed, and some innate abilities of the Gale Demon Wolves, along with a degree of human intelligence. Bloodthirsty and lustful, they ravaged any settlement they encountered—eating the men, defiling the women, and using them to reproduce. If a woman didn't conceive, she'd be eaten too. In many ways, they were akin to goblins.

Wolf Raiders were immensely strong, capable of manipulating wind to some extent. Five hundred of them could defeat a ten-thousand-strong regular army. Each was roughly equivalent to a level 20–30 Soul Master. Worse, they fought to the death.

They'd start by attacking small villages—slaughtering men, enslaving women, and growing their numbers. When villages could no longer sustain them, they'd begin targeting human cities.

That's when nobles would call on Spirit Hall. Soul Masters would step in to eradicate the Wolf Raiders completely.

It was the most efficient and cost-effective way. Fighting them piecemeal was costly, slow, and often allowed survivors to escape and rebuild elsewhere.

As for the villagers who died in the process? They were considered a necessary sacrifice to ensure the infestation was wiped out in one sweep.

Qian Xunji had planned this culling as the final part of their "vacation"—to give Qian Renxue her first real taste of battle and bloodshed.

But thanks to the unexpected encounter with Tang Yuehua, the itinerary had expanded—now including a little visit to the Clear Sky Sect.

Ghost Douluo turned into a shadowy blur and slipped into the mountains. Inside, the Wolf Raiders had carved out a massive cave, housing seven to eight hundred of them.

Some rested. Others devoured human corpses like beasts. And some lined up to assault human women—whose vacant eyes were soulless, like walking corpses.

If their numbers grew by a few hundred more, they'd be ready to attack cities.

"For you, death is better than what you're living through."

With overwhelming strength, none of the Wolf Raiders even noticed Ghost Douluo's presence.

He rarely showed emotion at his level, but now, a mix of killing intent and sorrow flickered in his eyes—proof that he still had human feelings.

"Ninth Soul Skill—Ghostly Phantoms."

His eyes glowed crimson. Horrifying spirits surged from his body. Wailing echoed. A sinister wind howled through the cave.

The Wolf Raiders snapped awake, howling in rage, staring at the figure overhead.

Black phantoms formed skeletal hands, pressing into the cave's walls.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Explosions shook the mountains. Birds scattered. Part of the range collapsed.

"Get ready, Xue'er. If you don't kill at least a hundred, I'm taking away all your allowance. No new clothes for a year."

"A hundred?!"

Qian Renxue's eyes widened. In her life, she hadn't killed more than ten people or beasts combined. Now he expected her to slay a hundred—and she was only level 38.

"Your father never gives you tasks you can't handle. Remember: your martial soul is the Six-Winged Angel—the strongest on the continent. You've had the best training and resources Spirit Hall can offer. If you fully utilize your power, you can do it."

Fueled with determination, three soul rings—one yellow, one purple, one black—rose beneath Qian Renxue's feet. Her Six-Winged Angel appeared behind her.

From the collapsed section of the nearby ridge, Wolf Raiders began emerging. Each stood over two meters tall, built like tanks. Gray-haired, thickly furred, they resembled savage beasts. Their jaws jutted outward, revealing massive fangs, and their faces were painted with garish war paint.

Their eyes gleamed with murderous intent. Though not particularly bright, their intelligence rivaled ten-thousand-year soul beasts. Having had their den destroyed, they wouldn't stop until Qian Xunji's party was dead.

The Wolf Raiders moved in organized formation, surrounding them first rather than attacking immediately. Though many were crushed in the collapse, over five hundred remained.

A loud howl echoed—the signal. They charged on all fours toward the group.

"Hold back a little. Kill slowly," Qian Xunji said calmly, flicking a whip to maim a Wolf Raider.

Even beasts had survival instincts. If they sensed they couldn't win, they'd flee. And the Wolf Raiders were more than just beasts—they could think. They'd run if things got too tough.

Hearing this, Chrysanthemum and Ghost Douluo, along with Ah Yin, held back. No instant kills.

"Angel Domain!"

Now level 30, Qian Renxue had awakened the Angel Domain that came with her martial soul. A golden field spread several dozen meters, weakening all within.

The Gale Demon Wolf bloodline within the Wolf Raiders made them particularly susceptible. Inside the domain, their agility dropped by 10%, weakening them accordingly. Their soul power was continuously purified.
