Freya's POV
I slid into my car and immediately dialed Waylon Colby's number.
The call went straight to silence the first time. Then again on the second attempt.
My finger jabbed the redial button with growing irritation until finally, on the third ring, his voice crackled through the speaker.
"What do you want? I'm in the middle of something important." His tone dripped with annoyance from the very first word.
"Important business? Like getting hauled in by tax investigators perhaps?" I cut straight through any pleasantries.
A pause stretched between us before Waylon feigned confusion. "What are you talking about?"
"Please." I let out a harsh laugh, knowing full well he was aware of my morning encounter with the authorities.
"Waylon Colby, you really outdid yourself this time. Now I'm here to collect what you owe me."
"How dare you speak to your father with such disrespect!" His voice rose in manufactured outrage.
