Freya's POV
"You should sit in the middle since I need to exit first. The door position works better for me." I shifted my weight and gently nudged her toward the center seat.
Bonnie spun around behind me with practiced agility. "I refuse to sit next to my brother! He'll spend the entire ride lecturing me about something. I'd prefer the window seat for some peace and quiet."
We had been lingering beside the parked vehicle for several minutes, engaging in this ridiculous dance of musical chairs. The whole situation felt unnecessarily dramatic.
Resigned to my fate, I slid into the middle position.
Mack's presence overwhelmed my senses immediately. His cologne carried notes of cedar and bergamot, sophisticated and intoxicating. I found myself swallowing hard as the entire left side of my body became hyperaware of his proximity.
"Ms. Katie, we're departing now. Thank you for such a lovely evening." Bonnie settled into her chosen spot and called out her farewell to Katie Harriet.
