Freya's POV
The exhaustion etched across his face suddenly made sense. Jasper Tristan looked like he hadn't slept in days, his usual polished appearance replaced by hollow cheeks and bloodshot eyes.
"Freya Colby, please help Lila Colby. Everything we did before was wrong. I'm begging you to have mercy and visit the hospital. Please help her."
Cecilia Felix lunged forward without warning, her manicured fingers digging into my wrist. The sudden movement startled my dog, who cowered behind my legs with a frightened whimper.
My jaw clenched as I stared down at this woman who had tormented me for years. A bitter laugh escaped my throat.
"How fascinating. I never imagined I'd live to hear an apology from your lips." The words dripped with sarcasm.
"I mean it, Freya Colby. I'll do anything you ask if you'll just save Lila Colby. She's your sister, for God's sake. This is about a human life." Tears streamed down Cecilia Felix's cheeks, her maternal desperation raw and exposed.
