Jasper Tristan is finished?
The news hit me like a thunderbolt. Just yesterday at the school reunion, he was full of energy, trailing after me like a persistent shadow. Now suddenly he was dying?
After the initial shock wore off, I steadied myself. Even if he dropped dead this very moment, it had absolutely nothing to do with me. My voice came out ice-cold when I responded. "I'm not a medical professional. How exactly am I supposed to save him? We're divorced. We have zero connection to each other now."
"Freya Colby, you're the only one who can help him right now. He needs an emergency blood transfusion, and the hospital blood bank doesn't have enough RH-negative blood stored. Even if we could locate another donor, time would run out before then. You're his only hope." Hazel White's tone had completely transformed from her vicious tirade the night before. Now her words carried both desperation and forced humility.
