Freya's POV
I thought Cecilia Felix's humiliation in front of me would mark the end of her desperate attempts.
I was wrong. She refused to accept defeat and decided to bring in backup.
Saturday arrived, and I had already committed to meeting Katie Harriet and Bonnie Victor at Marlborough for an evening hosted by Katie. After grinding through overtime at the studio all day, I finally made it to the venue. The moment I exchanged pleasantries with my friends, my phone buzzed insistently.
A glance at the screen revealed my aunt's name.
"Katie, Bonnie, give me just a moment. I need to handle this call."
"You never get a break, do you?" Katie laughed, though her tone carried genuine sympathy.
I offered an apologetic smile, stepped out of the room, and swiped to answer.
"Hello, Aunt. What can I do for you?"
My aunt's voice came through warm and concerned, almost sickeningly sweet. "Freya, darling, how are you holding up these days?"
