Seeing my confused expression, he continued. "Elder Mr. Porter served under my grandfather during his military career. My grandfather recognized his potential and promoted him through the ranks until he became commander of the military district. Remember when I mentioned having an older brother? He's the orphan of my father's fallen comrade and has dedicated his life to military service. My brother has worked under Commander Porter for years, earning his mentorship and advancement. Of course, my brother earned those promotions through exceptional service. He's received first-class honors twice and nearly paid with his life both times. Commander Porter retired months ago, and now he frequently visits my grandfather. They spend hours playing chess and reminiscing about their glory days."
