"Fine, I'll be there." I made my voice sound defeated, as though she had successfully cornered me into submission.
The moment I ended the call, my mind began working through the possibilities.
True, Mack Ben and I shared an undeniable chemistry, but we had always maintained proper boundaries in public settings. Given Mira Tristan's volatile personality, if she truly possessed damaging evidence, she would have unleashed it long ago to publicly humiliate me. She wouldn't wait until my relationship with her brother had deteriorated this far to use it as ammunition.
The video she claimed to have was most likely insignificant.
She was probably banking on intimidation tactics, hoping to frighten me into retreat and salvage whatever remained of her brother's crumbling position.
Understanding her strategy brought me a sense of clarity, though I still intended to meet with her.
Not for my own sake, but for Mack Ben's protection.
