Jasper Tristan was well aware that my expertise lay in women's fashion. Throughout my career, nearly every design award I had earned was for womenswear, with one notable exception being my graduation project that featured menswear.
That particular graduation piece still held a place of honor in the Whitman University Fashion Design Academy display case. The custom suit Jasper wore to his wedding was also my creation, and it had been flawlessly executed.
My focus on women's clothing wasn't due to any inability with menswear. Rather, it stemmed from practical considerations regarding my energy and the strategic direction of our brand development. Women's fashion simply demanded more of my attention.
When he posed his question, I remained silent, having no desire to engage in conversation with him.
Within moments, he arrived at his own conclusion. "You designed it for Mack Ben."
His words carried the weight of certainty rather than inquiry.
